Can you please stop your constant patronising TIP. I don't see anyone on this forum saying amen to everything Simon does. Only because sometimes we agree with him or just don't slag him off to death doesn't imply we're brain dead zombies. Thank you very much.

I will continue using the specific phrase "brain dead zombies" because that is the phrase invented by Journalist/Writer Charlie Brooker in 2005 to describe people who follow Reality TV shows like X-Factor/Big Brother/Britain's Got Talent whom then promptly go out and buy the single/product because they have effectively been brain washed in to doing so after the show has ended.

This phrase reached its zenith in the BAFTA award winning TV short series social satire "Dead Set" wriitten by Charlie Brooker, and this phrase has become the specific short hand across journalists across the UK to describe fans of Simon Cowell's products used in such publications as The Times; the Daily Telegraph; BBC2's Culture Show; The Word magazine; etc.

Hence it has become a part of popular UK culture as the phrases Britpop; Beatlemania; Yuppies; Wacko Jacko; Madge; Girl Power; etc have in the past.

The WATW remake is so terribly $h!t that I was cringing when I first saw the video. The overuse of autotune was disgraceful.

Michael Jackson must be turning in his grave.

The autotune is ridiculous. But I must say that I disagree with you... I think Michael Jackson would have LOVED this...

The song was cheesy in 1984 and of course it's cheesy today. But I am so happy they kept all that made the original so charming... the awkward combination of new and old artists, the random actor thrown in for good measure (Vince Vaughn is the Dan Aykroyd), the artists taking themselves so seriously, everyone reading their lyrics from a script (like they couldn't memorize their 5 words).

Michael Jackson would have loved this because it was helping a cause...

I agree with the 1984 version, it was cheesy but loveable at the same time. Kinda like a theme song to a Disney movie. The remake however is equivalent to Justin Bieber rapping about hurricanes and teddy bears.

All these charity singles are just awful. I'm sick of these remakes. I want Rude Boy to climb.

I concur.

I think what you people are missing is that this song is aiming to raise as much money as possible for charity, they want everyone to buy it.

For the kids they have got Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus.

For the older people they have got Tony Bennett and Celine Dion.

For the Urban AC they have Jennifer Hudson and Mary J Blige.

For the Hip Hop they have Lil Wayne and the BEP's

So where you people may bitch and moan they have made a great decision in order for this song to appeal to everyone.

I'm fed up of everyone bitching and moaning in this thread about Americans taste in music it really is hypocrisy with the crap that hogs the UK Chart [Jedward, Simon Cowell for Haiti, JLS, Cheryl Cole].

Aww i really want Imma Be to get to no.1 next week but it may not happen now even with the video released on tuesday. But hopefully in the coming 2 or 3 weeks.

The song is a pile of steaming $h!t. I don't care if Britney Spears and Lady GaGa sang on it. Not even Jesus could save it. There are many ways to support Haiti, and you don't have to buy this monstrosity of a song in order to help out.

Artists for Haiti losing steam already!

I thought the lead would be far more dramatic I have to say.
