February 1, 201015 yr I see Thon Hotel Bristol is on the list of official Eurovision hotels in Oslo. I stayed there and it was really nice, but quite expensive :o (that said, there were three of us). A single room and tickets to the final wouldn't be too bad. Seriously, €90 is actually quite good considering I saw people pay €2 for a banana in Bergen... whaaaaat? that's mad :o and I thought Sweden was bad, £2 for a Mars bar or whatever it was
February 1, 201015 yr With Euros being about the same as British Pounds at the current exchange rate, that is obviously £2. So, seriously, £2 for one banana? I could buy at least 10 for that price in the UK  probably 15! seriously, how much does a full weekly grocery shop cost for an average family of 4? £500
February 1, 201015 yr I made pizza for my family on friday, it costed me 30€ that's unbelievable, would cost £5 here :heehee: what's the average hourly paid rate in Norway Jerick, do you have a minimum wage? for example the average shop worker in the UK probably earns £5.50-£6.50 an hour

I wonder how much you pay for a quickie
February 1, 201015 yr let's take a look on what I have bought today ;) Petterøe's 20 smokes - 74 NOK - 9€ Coca Cola 0,5 L - 15 NOK - 1,8€ Two Cinnamon Buns - 18 NOK - 2,2€ Extra 20 Gums - 12,5 NOK - 1,5€ :P

February 1, 201015 yr I asked a guy who works on Jack and Jones and he earns 140kr an hour = 17€ (Is it strange that 600,000 Swedes works in Norway?)
February 1, 201015 yr I asked a guy who works on Jack and Jones and he earns 140kr an hour = 17€ (Is it strange that 600,000 Swedes works in Norway?) no! not if they're earning that much money :heehee: they must always be going to currency exchange places though  £14-£17 an hour is incredibly high, no wonder the prices are so high!

February 1, 201015 yr Bottled water is also pricey around Oslo. There is a Norwegian brand which is relatively cheap, but I can't remember the name of it... Fags here cost €7.90 or something. :o But yeah, I would gladly pay €90 for a ticket. Norway is probably the most open and most friendly country in the world, so it's worth it. :D Oh, they love it if you speak Norwegian, right Erik? Jeg snakket norsk, men ingen forsto meg. :kink: EDIT: yeah, the banana thing. It was a fruit stall in the fish and clothes market in Bergen. I thought they meant bananas, but apparently not. :o Edited February 1, 201015 yr by Cal

February 1, 201015 yr Is 100Euros really expensive for Eurovision :o? F1 tickets cost about £100 for the worst seats (terraces) and cost like £300 for a good grandstand seat so these fees don't seem too bad :P.
February 1, 201015 yr I'll probably only be able to go if the UK win, because at least then, I don't need to buy plane tickets. Or maybe if a cheaper city wins....where would it be cheap? I want to know who I'm supporting this year! :P Slovenia and Croatia would be best I should think. Both are cheap and friendly, and very open to modern ways of life whilst keeping their heritage. It's only a matter of time before tourism spoils both countries though -_- .
February 1, 201015 yr Slovenia and Croatia would be best I should think. Both are cheap and friendly, and very open to modern ways of life whilst keeping their heritage. It's only a matter of time before tourism spoils both countries though -_- . I've even thought about going to Croatia in the past :) Shame I don't normally like Croatia or Slovenia's entries. Maybe we need another Greek win. I've nearly booked an holiday there before, and they often have good entries - plus they do well in ESC, so a win isn't out of the question, even if they already won in 2005. Or maybe Malta, I've been wanting to go there too. An Italian win soon would also suit my holiday plans :P
February 1, 201015 yr Croatia and Malta are on my radar for travelling too. I've been to Slovenia and that was AMAZING, so I would hope Croatia would be equally so, if not more. Iceland, Norway and Sweden are places I also want to visit, hence being interested in going to ESC this year
February 1, 201015 yr Is Iceland cheap for tourists? I hear they don't have much money, so it can't be good for locals if it's expensive. Don't like the cold, so that puts me off a bit, but I do love the name of the capital - Reykjavik (I assume I've spelt it right, spell-checker doesn't say that it's wrong) I managed a couple of nights in Budapest last year. Only off-putting thing was the airport, as it was very small and not many flights were leaving, though it was Terminal 2. Also, there were a lot of people cycling, which could be annoying when I was trying to walk. Shame they've withdrawn, it was very nice there :(
