February 1, 201015 yr Is Iceland cheap for tourists? I hear they don't have much money, so it can't be good for locals if it's expensive. Don't like the cold, so that puts me off a bit, but I do love the name of the capital - Reykjavik (I assume I've spelt it right, spell-checker doesn't say that it's wrong) I managed a couple of nights in Budapest last year. Only off-putting thing was the airport, as it was very small and not many flights were leaving, though it was Terminal 2. Also, there were a lot of people cycling, which could be annoying when I was trying to walk. Shame they've withdrawn, it was very nice there :( According to my friend their exchange rate works out at about 200 Icelandic kronur to £1, he said something along the lines of everything would be like half the normal price to us if we visted. I don't really understand how it works, but he said it's the best time for people to visit Iceland  , your description of Budapest airport reminds me a lot of Bratislava airport. We didn't stick around there long, headed straight to Vienna... there were cyclists everywhere where I went aswell  Can't say I'll miss Hungary that much from ESC. Forogj Vilag was great though. February 1, 201015 yr Hungary 2007 was really nice :) Well.. I have now planned out that my friend will buy tickets on saturday, and he is gonna try to get the best places for any price it will take! :D
February 1, 201015 yr I'd love to go to any of these places, I'm so open to anything (apart from Russia - I never fancied it due to visa issues etc...) I know I said I'd try to go to Norway but lack of funds prevent these things sadly...I really can't see any of Slovenia, Croatia, Slovakia etc...winning it any time soon either :( my guess this year (without hearing the entries obviously) is that it will either go back down to Turkey/Greece/Israel/Azerbaijan/Armenia or maybe stay in Scandinavia if Norway pick A1/Sweden pick something different for once (although their non-schlager entries do tend to fall flat on their face usually, but so do their schlager entries these days )
February 1, 201015 yr Oh I mean't monday lol I have no idea why I thought the 8th feb was this saturday xD

February 2, 201015 yr looking up hotels in Norway, they are just ridiculous, the hotel nearest to the arena (there aren't many in the area) costs £300 a night  I don't think so somehow! edit: after an extensive search, the cheap-ish hotels are all booked up on those nights, those that are left are anything in the region of £250+ per night, and are nowhere near the arena - taking into account a 2 or 3 night stay + ESC tickets + food + flights + travel to and from the city to the airport + spending money you could be looking at spending at least a grand if not more...sadly I can't justify it for three days so will definitely not be going to Oslo :(
February 2, 201015 yr You don't need to live in Bærum, you can live in Oslo, it's like less then 10 minutes away from Oslo Central Station, which is in the center of Oslo :P
February 2, 201015 yr all of the hotels in Oslo that I've seen are way overpriced too - particularly for the Saturday night, unsurprisingly - I saw one hotel charging £90 roughly for the Friday and then £350 for the Saturday

Two star hotel, and it was a single room - but at least it included breakfast in the morning :P
February 2, 201015 yr Lol another option is.. :kink: join www.gaysir.no the site is in English as well, find someone you can sleep at for free :P
February 2, 201015 yr Well my friend and I have decided to abandon mission for this year sadly. We would have been looking at spending at least £1200 each, which is money we simply do not have to spend seeing as we were both made redundant last month  A shame, but what can you do?! And I'll probably have to wait another decade for the contest to head back to a more Western nation :(

February 2, 201015 yr I have now checked how much money I have to pay for the ESC weekend Friday: Train from Sandefjord - Oslo S = 22 €€uro Saturday: Tickets - 97€uro - 195 €€uro Sunday: Train from Oslo S - Sandefjord = 22 €€uro = 240 €€uro :D
