79 Alexandra Burke 'Bad Boys' - 267 points (15 voters, 20th in Heat 1)

UK Chart Run: {1}-2-4-5-10-11-18-26-26-22-25-12-27-34-35->15

The second most recent number one in the countdown. I'm surprised it finished so low to be honest, I thought it'd be more liked on here. It's probably my favourite song an X-Factor Winner has ever released to be honest, and I still don't like it much.

I didn't like the original album version of 'Deja Vu' but Freemasons managed to pull off a decent remix of the track. Beyonce has had better singles that haven't reached no. 1 in the UK. Proof, imo, that the best songs don't always go to no. 1 - just the hyped up lead singles. -_-

'Spinning Around', like Shaot put, is one of those songs I just didn't see the appeal of. Clearly "those hotpants" sold the song. The song itself is weak and very bland. Again, like 'Deja Vu' shows that a hyped lead single in a quiet week can get to no. 1 - then again this era of Kylie was abysmal ('Please Stay'? :manson: ).

For me 'Independent Women' is the first good song to qualify. Glad to see it made some impact on the final.

Fedde Le Grand is a surprising feature. Massive at the time and has a great video. It's placing here is deserved, I don't think it would deserve to be much higher.

78 Destiny's Child 'Survivor' - 269 points (17 voters, 15th in Heat 4)

UK Chart Run: {1}-2-7-9-12-20-23-35-42-50-56-64-71->13

Their two songs were pretty much neck and neck for most of the voting, but this didn't get the same slump that affected 'Independant Women'. 4 of the bottom 7 songs from the final heat, looks like that was the weakest one....

I liked them at the time, but both 'Survivor' and 'Independent Women' have ages badly.

77 Rihanna 'Take A Bow' - 274 points (15 voters, 16th in Heat 1)

I think this song gets far more stick that it deserves, it's quite a nice ballad and definitely her best. I'm glad this qualified and didn't disgrace itself. This may have finished very low but her other entry must surely be a contender for the top spot?

76 Christina Aguilera, Lil Kim, Mya & Pink 'Lady Marmalade' - 276 points (16 voters, 17th in Heat 3)

UK Chart Run: {1}-2-2-7-9-10-14-17-21-24-29-31-36-46-61-71->16

One of very few covers that actually made the final 84. I think this is about the worst thing any of the artists involved have put their name to. Still, better than All Saints managed.

75 Madonna 'Sorry' - 280 points (16 voters, 15th in Heat 1)

UK Chart Run: {1}-4-7-9-14-20-18-24-29-38-36-44-51-65-75->15

Rounding off the bottom 10 is the first of two entries for Madge, I thought this one might have done better.

Lady Marmalade :puke:

Have to agree that it's the worst thing any of the contributors have done. It's also pretty much the worst thing on the Moulin Rouge soundtrack.

Madonna too, I do like Sorry but it's certainly no Hung Up in the classic stakes.

not surprised or disappointed with most of the top ten, I echo others sentiments on Spinning Around (On A Night Like This was far better), and Deja Vu is just a nothing song, can't believe it even got this far, how it got to #1 I don't know considering some of the classic 400k+ sellers from I Am...Sasha Fierce went nowhere close to topping the charts

74 Aaliyah 'More Than A Woman' - 289 points (15 voters, 19th in Heat 3)

UK Chart Run: {1}-5-12-14-18-26-32-45-56-59-68-63->12

Released after her shocking and tragic death it probably made it to number one otherwise. Still, a good song which was certainly worthy at the time, even if it's not as good as 'Try Again'.

73 Arctic Monkeys 'When The Sun Goes Down' - 320 points (14 voters, Wildcard Entry (21st) in Heat 3)

UK Chart Run: {1}-2-8-14-18-30-37-36-40-46-55-58-68-72-73->15

So, the second of the four wildcards and the first of a few points ties in the countdown (I've separated by most voters). It's not as memorable or as instant as their debut number one, but I think lyrically and musically this is far better. Pleased it did ok.

I think all of these are decent songs, some are actually pretty great. I know there is plenty of crappier songs to come in the highest positions.

EDIT: Minus AM of course.

72 Holly Valance 'Kiss Kiss' - 320 points (22 voters, Wildcard Entry (22nd) in Heat 1)

UK Chart Run: {1}-2-5-10-9-10-15-20-21-26-34-38-41-37-50-66->16

72nd? SEVENTY-SECOND?!! How tragic. Although this is hardly my type of music I think this (well Holly in general to be honest) was well ahead of its time. I genuinely think it's one of the decades finest pop songs and would've been far more popular if released a few years later by someone more 'cool'. Nearly 8 years old and I think it's aged rather well.

I should probably admit now that if this and 'When The Sun Goes Down' weren't two of the 'wildcard' entries I very much doubt I would have bothered. :ph34r: :D

71 Britney Spears 'Ooops... I Did It Again' - 322 points (17 voters, 13th in Heat 4)

UK Chart Run: {1}-2-3-6-9-16-18-20-27-34-38-46-49-55->14

Her first of three, pleasantly surprising that although she's so loved on this site this hasn't done more than OK.

'Oops I Did It Again' has also dated horribly, it's a nice novelty song but among her worst imo.
I never liked Kiss Kiss that much to be honest...it was catchy 'mwah' but I definitely didn't enjoy listening to it, she had better singles in my opinion

70 Daniel Bedingfield 'Gotta Get Thru This' - 338 points (19 voters, 17th in Heat 4)

UK Chart Run: {1}-1-2-3-2-1-3-6-13-11-13-22-27-39-45-55-54-54->18

This song managed to have two seperate runs at the top spot, something which was very rare until 2009 when three songs achieved it. Pleasantly surprised this has done so well.

LOVE them all so far apart from Fedde Le Grand.

still no shocks so far though
