Listened to them all last night. Nothing majorly brilliant there. Disappointed with Iiris Vesik tbh, Ice-Cold Story was WAY better. I think the Rolf Junior song was my favourite.

Iiris Vesik - Astronaut - 7/10

She has a really unique voice. I just wonder how old she is. Loving the random noises in the background. Personally, I quite like this song. But I can't imagine it at Oslo, not that that fact stops me wanting it to go. I hope it does well, and shows the world that Estonia has what it takes, which is something I've doubted since 2006. Although saying that, Urban Symphony

Disko 4000 - Ei Usu - 10/10

I'll maybe be a little biast towards this song. I love Piret Jarvis! But her aside, this song is actually really good. I'll be waiting to see how this compares to Rapunzel as both are members of Vanilla Ninja. Ei Usu, what a great song, high scoring from me mainly on the song, and slightly on Piret!

Violina feat Rolf Junior - Maagiline Päev - 8/10

Aaah, i love the rythm in this tune. I'd be very interested to see how they would stage this song on the stage assuming it went to Oslo. And who's to say it can't? I'd be more than happy to see it on the big stage, and have a good chart run all round Europe. Honestly, this song is very close to Disko 4000 but not quite close enough.

Malcolm Lincoln - Siren - 2/10

I'm not convinced this guy is Estonian? Not that it matters, his cries throughout the song, are very annoying. I was really hoping that the song would pick the beat up a little more than it does. For me, I find Siren extremely tedious. Sorry Malcolm, it's a no from me!

Mimicry - New - 8/10

Not a bad little tune to tell the truth. Sounds like something you'd hear on a new Channel 4 teenager TV show. I like her voice alot! And I like the tune that little bit more! I'd rather hear music like this in the UK Top 40 rather than the rubbish we have nowadays.

Marten Kuningas & Mahavok - Oota Mind Veel - 2/10

I liked the beginning of this song, but then it turned out to be a sort of indie song. I HATE INDIE MUSIC! So immediately, it's getting a low mark. Having listened to the whole song, I still haven't changed my mind. I suppose it may do well if it is indie, but then you only have to look at The Lovebugs to see how it can go either way. FYI, I liked The Lovebugs.

3 Pead - Poolel Teel - 1/10

I was quite scared when I began listening to this song. This song never really lifts off and just stays quite bland the whole way through. I honestly can't see it doing too well either. It's just so reall dull. Please Estonians, do not vote for this! IT IS DIRE!

Lenna Kuurmaa - Rapunzel - 9/10

This song is really cute actually. I hope the song does well and goes far. But as a fan of Vanilla Ninja I hope Lenna doesn't do well, because she'll end up going solo. Even so, I can't help but like this song. The riffs kind of remind me of Britpop, I'm not a fan of Britpop but I love this song for some peculiar reason!

Groundhog Day - Teiste Seest Kõigile - 7/10

The picture you see on the website of Groundhog Day makes them look like they are 12 years old. Judging by this song, they are an Estonian version of The Killers. I quite like it. It would be interesting to see this song go far, but at the same time I'd rather the likes of Disko 4000 or Lenna Kuurmaa to do better than this.

Tiiu Kiik - The One And Only Love - 1/10

There aren't that many lyrics... It sounded really dull at the beginning, and it never really gets more interesting. Another dull song. In fact it is the only song that I couldn't be bothered to listen to the whole way through, it's seriously that boring!

Finally got to listen to them

Iiris Vesik - Astronaut - 10/10 - Absolutely stunning! So weird and amazing. Inspired and not generic I love it.

Disko 4000 - Ei Usu - 8/10 - Not bad, loving the music of the song. Vocals are not special at all, if not awful.

Violina feat Rolf Junior - Maagiline Päev - 10/10 - Incredible! Violin sound won me over completely! Not surprised by that lol

Malcolm Lincoln - Siren - 6/10 - Quite amateurish imo. It needs normal background for vocals and just decent music. -_-

Mimicry - New - 5/10 - Quite awful. Ruins the amazingness of the songs i've heard so far.

Marten Kuningas & Mahavok - Oota Mind Veel - 6.5/10 - Again not good at all. Where's this year's Rändajad??! :(

3 Pead - Poolel Teel - 3.5/10 - If it was supposed to be some kind of OMG SO CREATIVE thing then they are deluded. Entertaining just like watching paint dry.

Lenna Kuurmaa - Rapunzel - 8/10 - Better. Especially in the second part of the song. Makes you go happy and stuff. <3 So uplifting this is good. The music is not annoying, the voice is ok though.

the other two later.

Astronaut

Edit: I've only heard one other estonian song but if Astronaut isn't picked I'll be extremely dissapointed :(

I just heard "Astronaut", OMG I like it so much! And I'm from Estonia originally btw lol

Here's her cover of Regina Spektor's "Samson", which I entered in BJSC one time (I entered the original, not Iiris's version).

If Estonia had confirmed Maagiline Päev now it would been my favorite so far

If "Astronaut" wins, I'm going to vote for it a countless amount of times!

Edit: Oops, I can't vote if the semis of Ireland and Estonia are different. But if it gets to the final!

I don't think 'Astronaut' have a chance.. it's really not an Eurovision song, I think alot of more people will like Violine ft. Rolf Junior!

Already played that song 6 times now

I'm completely rooting for "Astronaut". I've listened to it lots of times now too. It's really appealing to my taste.

I tried to translate Maagiline Päev in google translate

Who does not know

I'm muutund.

I know now to say

That the time does not stop

Steps you can create a

But the fate of your

Wish to try again, you have the courage to

And so that tomorrow you and me have something to give

Happiness is created by this

Hullunult weird, but it seems to us

Here it is the heights of the world wide

What was yesterday was õnnetuile

This is a magical day

On this day

This is a magical day

Who are you now,

Are you changed?

It is a measure of years, and

You know,

A selection of your inside

Finds whether you

Or, you can find themselves and their own

We want to try again, you have the courage to

And so that tomorrow you and me have something to give

Happiness is created by this

What does muutund, hullunult, õnnetuile means Mattias?

I read somewhere that Astronaut was considered one of the favourites in Estonia...

I had to laugh today, Mattias told me the Estonian word for scarecrow today, it sounded like "hit him in the head" except faster

"Hit him in the head with this"

The word is "hernehirmutis"

Mattias is going to hit the Astronaut in the head with a Scarecrow B)

anyway back on topic, I've heard Diskio and I'm not really bothered about it, nothing special imo.

Rapunzel is quite nice though :)

Sad, cause I don't think it will have a chance.. looks like the winner is going to be Lenna - Rapunzel..

Yeah, it probably doesn't have much of a chance, but that doesn't stop me loving the song.

Until watching the 1996-2003 contests again I'd forgotten how much I loved Estonia every year from 1999-2002

Diamond Of Night was absolutely stunning, Once In A Lifetime was fantastic, Everybody was until Fairytale my favourite winner of all time - how un-BuzzJack to have two male artists as my favourite winners! Sahlene's Runaway was excellent too - along with Malta they were my favourite country for quite a few years until Sweden took over from Fame onwards (with a dip in 2005 of course).

I've also FINALLY realised who the girl I work with looks like - it's been bugging me for months and it's just clicked that she's the spitting image of Evelin Samuel of Estonia 1999!
