I thought I'd make a thread for this since I came across some juicy info. (not 100% certain it's true mind but it seems fairly believable)

A late late show eurovision special will take place on March 5th in which 5 songs will take part in the hope of becoming Ireland's entry to Norway this year. Again it'll be 50% Jury and 50% Public vote.

Here is some info I found on esctoday today, very interesting. Niamh

Performers that have submitted songs

---------------------------------------------

Niamh Kavanagh (Eurovision winner 1993)

Michael English

Leanne Moore (2007 You're A Star winner)

Justin Lee-Collins

LaGaylia Frazier (MF 2004, 2005, Romanian NF 2008)

Songwriters that have submitted songs

---------------------------------------------

John Waters (Ireland 2007)

Alexander Bard (BWO - MF 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009)

Brendan Graham (Eurovision winner 1994/1997, has written many other ESC entries too)

Ronan Keating (Denmark 2009)

Ronan and Justin could be linked I'm not sure...

Yep, Ronan definitely supposedly wrote Justin's song  Niamh Kavanagh's song is written by the writers of Hera Bjork's Someday (runner up in the Icelandic NF last year), and there is another song written by the writers of Et Cetera...

I'm very interested in Niamh Kavanagh, Alexander Bard and LaGaylia in particular :o

I've heard Justin sing so that'll be interesting too, I heard it's an upbeat number too...

last year only 2/5 were anywhere decent

etc was the clear winner

cant wait to see who is on the panal too, jerry springer, like what qualifications does he have...

Apparently Justin's song is called "All I ever want is you". They couldn't have possbily picked a cheesier song title. :puke2:

Also the person who submitted "Love?" (remember Donna & Joe?) has also submitted a song for 2010

edit: Also some guy called Ralph Siegel has submitted a "very strong rock ballad"

Yes....I read it on all kinds of everything, hold on I'll get it.....

btw I also heard that some of the people who composed a certain "Fairytale" are involved in an irish song submitted. :o (This was in forum chat though so I'm not sure how reliable it is)

This is getting very exciting :w00t:

Here's the article that mentions Ralph: http://allkindsofeverything.ie/IrishNews.htm

Erm no I didn't......I've never heard of him...it's possible I might have heard a song he composed though...

He's the most prolific songwriter in Eurovision's history. He wrote Germany's winning entry from 1982 "A Little Peace" and his most recent entry was "Just Get Out Of My Life" for Montenegro last year.

This is turning out to be quite a high profile selection!

Pity its a foregone conclusion :(

Oh! I quite liked Just get out of my life :)

forgone conclusion?

You mean with Niamh Kavangh? I wouldn't be completely sure...I thought that too at first but I think Niamh Kavanagh is probably Irelands least known winner for Ireland. If her songs not very good/average and another song is really good I think they could take her.

That's even to say Niamh makes it to the final selection (I figured at first she would obviously but you never know)

Although I heard the people composing Niamh's song also composed "Roll with the wind" by alexander Rybak...

No I don't mean with Niamh, I mean it's all pointing towards a Justin Lee Collins win at the moment.

That is if he even makes the final 5 :kink:

tbh though I think Niamh would beat him in a vote.....if Justin was doing some silly gimicky Dustin-like song then I think he could beat her but on normal performance terms I don't think he's that powerful...

He blatantly will make the final. I hate to say it, but the game isn't straight in the Irish selections, and there's no way he would have been on the Late Late Show to talk about it if it weren't certain he would be in the final line-up regardless of the song quality.

As to whether he wins, I agree that is a bigger question mark, but when you take into account that he will be getting so much more publicity prior to the competition than whoever else is included, surely he must be a big favourite.

I also heard that Mikey (another member of "Boyzone", just like Ronan) has written a song.

And when Montenegro started to perform last year, and the box came up showing the song-writers, even my dad had heard of Ralph Siegel :o

EDIT: Just heard that Mikey will sing the song himself if he reaches the live selection

Apparently RTE has lifted the ban on songs being released on the radio before the week of the late late eurosong. Which means we could be hearing the songs as soon as next week! :o
REJECTED song from Eurosong 2010:

"Give Me a Reason" by Sarah McGarry. (Written by John Kennedy)

It's not the best, but it's not the worst I've heard...

That's really good. RTE always seem to reject some good songs,

is one I liked last year which was rejected.

But if they rejected "Give Me a Reason", the songs they accept must all be amazing :P
