March 6, 201015 yr I agree with you Cal, i think we have a great entry this year, mind you i loved last years aswell but it was also the kind of song you knew people may not go for. This year we have a strong ballad with a nice trace of irishness about the song. Niamh has the voice and she has the stage presence and confidencewhich is a huge bonus aswell. I definitly think something ha sto be changed about the backing singers especially in the last part of the song, i think if they manage to change that it will make the song even better, but the songs are usually tweaked from the stage of wining eurosong and performing in eurovision, i look forward to seeing this performed on the night as i think Niamh may take johnny logans advise and raise the power of her own voice heading into the last part of the song which should give it a more stand out and epic feel. Do i think we will qualify, its so hard to know and that is nothing to do with the song but i think if we came 11th in the semi final last year we have a strong chance of qualifying for the final especially with the UK being able to vote in our semi aswell. I also think if niamh performs late in the semi she has a beter chance of qualifying, i still think if sinead mulvey had the lick of performing near the end last year she would have qaulified, she performed 2nd and may have got forgotten a bit. Best of luck to niamh, the best song won last night and its a great song been sung by a great peformer.
March 6, 201015 yr Why do you think this will do so much worse than My Heart Is Yours? I love both songs and I'll be the first to admit they're incredibly similar, so I don't understand how you can see them both getting such different results. Is it just because you're from Norway and you're hoping that Diedrik does well but you don't actually think he will, or is it something else? Because to be honest, apart from if they're drawn close together which would be a nightmare for both of them, I actually think Niamh could cause trouble for Norway. Both songs are great, and similar, but Niamh definitey has the edge vocally and in terms of performance. Yes I hope Didrik does well because I'm Norwegian, yeah I see some similarities, but My Heart Is Yours is screaming winning song in it, and It's For You dosn't have that. If you didn't know, Georgias song is much much MUCH more similar to My Heart Is Yours, and I have ranked it number 2 (So far) And don't get me wrong.. I love Ireland in Eurovision.. I just dons't see it doing well.. :( (And I have listen to it only.. 5 times maybe, it might grow on me) but my first reaction when I watch the final was that no one have the chance to do any good for Ireland
March 6, 201015 yr So pleased this won :D my favourite Irish entry since 1996 I think! I've been waiting a long time to feature them in my favourites of a contest! Just bought the song on iTunes

I suppose there are similarities with Georgia's entry as well but it doesn't have the "big finish" that Norway and Ireland have. My opinion is that the only thing that makes Norway scream winner as opposed to Ireland is that it will have the home crowd reaction, and they'll all be cheering and singing along in the audience, which will come across very well on television, especially for this particular song. So I suppose that could give it an edge. That said, there's usually a pretty large Irish crowd in the audience too :)
March 6, 201015 yr Pleased with the results. I voted for Niamh, Lee (for Erik mostly :P Although I quite liked the song too so I voted for me too), and Monika!
March 6, 201015 yr Monika's song has grown on me. It would have been a great entry for Austria! :snif:
March 6, 201015 yr Ecstacy in Heaven or whatever it was called has been in my head all morning at work  such a cheap song but I love trash like that :heehee:

March 6, 201015 yr Why oh why does one of the backing vocalists seem to think she's singing the lead near the end? :( If Ireland can come 11th in the semi-final after performing 2nd, no UK tele-votes, and it being 100% tele-vote, I think thats very good for them. This will put them back in the final. Been in my head all day, along with some other song
March 6, 201015 yr Excellent choice by Ireland! A good song, and hopefully will take some points from the snoozefest that is 'My Heart Is Yours'...
March 6, 201015 yr Europe really does seem to be divided over this song! Some say it's the best entry so far, some say it's the worst. I hope the juries are in the mood for ballads! ^_^
March 6, 201015 yr If Niamh can up the last part of the song by taking to a higher pitch and dumb down the backing singers vocal i think it would give the song a far more powerful finish. When Niamh represented ireland and won with in your eyes the version performed on eurovision was different to that which won eurosong and i hope that happens here. Dont get me wrong i really like its for you but i tihnk by a few little changes could change the song from being very good to excellent.
March 6, 201015 yr Author Ireland is already 3rd in the odds! :o Even if we weren't to win the feeling of qualifying for a start would be amazing.... and then if we got top ten tbh that would be almost like winning anyway given our recent results :P Edited March 6, 201015 yr by Sabrewulf238
March 7, 201015 yr Ya qualifying would be brilliant for us and its great to see it getting such good odds, i think ireland would be happy to make the final and get a placing similar to the UK last year of even better.
March 11, 201015 yr Author I don't think it was really that clear. I had big worries that Mikey would topple her :( Edited March 11, 201015 yr by Sabrewulf238
March 12, 201015 yr Before i heard the song in full i thought that could well happen, but when they all performed i knew mikey wouldnt win, the song was bland and was in no way memorable, had ronan ssang that song it would have been more worrying as i think ronan has a bigger following than mikey.
