May 29, 201015 yr The final rehearsal for tonight was very promising. Niamh sounded like she did in earlier rehearsals, which is very very good, and almost got the last note. If she can get the last note tonight then I think we could still do well. Also, Ireland being after Belarus isn't as bas as I thought it would be. Listening to them together was quite nice, I thought. Instead of neutralising both, I think they made each other stand out slightly as Belarus is more group-y and Niamh is more solo-y. :heehee: I don't think top 5 is possible, but 7th - 10th looks likely. Also, the rehearsals that the juries voted on last night went very well for Niamh.
May 29, 201015 yr If she can pull off the last high note it will be brilliant, im glad all is going well in rehearsals and all we hope now is she does well, top 10 would be brilliant and top 5 would be even better, and of course the win would be absolutly fantastic. Again best of luck to them all tonight and best of luck to the whole irish team.
May 29, 201015 yr TBH, coming right after Belarus is a total disaster :( I've listened to the whole bunch of finalists in their performance order for about 6 times today and Niamh really didn't stand much after Belarus :(
May 29, 201015 yr Not a great draw, but surely people should realize that Ireland is a much stronger ballad than Belarus
May 29, 201015 yr No matter what the result tonight im proud of the Irish performance and the reception she got in te hall was amazing, again best of luck for the votes, cant wait for the viting its always my faveourite part of the show

May 29, 201015 yr It is a dispointing result but Niamh performed well and gae it her best shot so we will remember her for that.
May 29, 201015 yr Author Niamh did us proud :) I think though that maybe with all the ballads this year it was always going to be tough.....so the more upbeat songs would have stood out alot more. I'd say many of the ballady songs like Ireland and Norway killed each other off in the results. How Russia came 11th will be known as one of the great mysteries of our time I'm sure :S Edited May 29, 201015 yr by Sabrewulf
May 29, 201015 yr Next year doesn't look promising for RTÉ. They almost pulled out of this year's contest, so I doubt they see any reason to stay for next year. If they do decide to go to Germany next year, then they need an internal selection. Imelda May would be divine. :magic:
May 29, 201015 yr I hope RTE dont pull out but like that id say there may be a chance of it happening, the thing is they should keep at it and i agree Imelda May would be brilliant but i couldnt see her doing eurovision. I still think we sent the right entry this year from the songsthat were chosen for the irish final. I would love to see an interview with Niamh on her thoughts and feelings of this eurovision experience.

I hope we don't :( If RTE didn't want to send someone........do you think TV3 would be any way interested in taking up the reins.....would they even have enough money to do it though

I hope we don't :( If RTE didn't want to send someone........do you think TV3 would be any way interested in taking up the reins.....would they even have enough money to do it though  RTÉ were almost bankrupt last year and we hadn't been doing well in the contest. They saved up for this year, but we still didn't do well. I guess it was the running order that did it. If we performed later I think we would have done better. TV3 can't as they aren't in the EBU. TG4 are an EBU member, but I doubt they'd take over...
May 29, 201015 yr I don't think RTE should pull out. In fairness, Ireland didn't do amazingly well, but in context, they were fortunate to even make the final, especially in SF2. Maybe take a year out and only put a good entry in every other year, rather than something mediocre annually. But, I don't think tonight's result for Ireland is 'doomsday'.
May 29, 201015 yr Shame Ireland did so badly, but still quite a bit better than the UK. I honestly did think Niamh was going to do a lot better though tonight!
May 30, 201015 yr Author It was quite depressing during the results though, Marty Whelan our commentator didn't help at all.... He was this || close to turning into Terry Wogan V2 :drama: Thank God he was a bit more cheerful near the end. I don't think I could have stood the self pity much longer..... May 30, 201015 yr Niamh was AMAZING tonight  But am I alone in thinking that Ireland might have done better with Justin Lee Collins? :kink:
May 30, 201015 yr Author Niamh was AMAZING tonight  But am I alone in thinking that Ireland might have done better with Justin Lee Collins? :kink: I don't think we would have qualified! :P We need to get some young, slim person who can actually sing very well in future years. Something more contemporary because I think eurovision has something against older woman recently (e.g Hera and Chiara also) Sad but it seems to be the case :S Edited May 30, 201015 yr by Sabrewulf
