Do you prefer Darius's falsetto pop range, his middle MT range or his deep classical bass baritone?

Are there any of Darius's own songs which you would like to hear him sing in a lower key?

I'd love to hear him give more richness to Journey's End and If I Could.

hard, I love all three tbh, depends on what song he is singing.

cant bring to mind any songs -

But at present its that bass baritone that is working for me, I keep thinking I would love to hear some more in that range

I love it when D sings deep, but as PIP says, I love all areas of his voice. So remarkable to hear how effortlessly he seems to flit between them :) Live Twice is my favourite D song(to date), which I believe exhibits all 3 areas. If I had to choose 1 only though, it probably would be the velvety, rich, deep part, which when I hear, always brings to mind Galaxy chocolate(the rich and creamy quality it hasto me) :)

Effortless - yes that's true. When Darius performs on pstos, he's making it look easy for him and people think he's getting easy songs.

The others often look strained, especially Marcella. I thought Danny was going to burst a blood vessel last week - so red and the vein on his forehead was so clear.

Loved when he flipped up into Colourblind last week, higher than normal.

wonder if the strain is starting to get to any of them. its quite relentless, I actually think its the way Darius can change his voice that appeals to me so much

I like all his range. My favorite depends on the song. I'd like a more baritone version of 'Better Man' but love 'If I Could' just as it is.

You know I'm not a Marcella fan, and she certainly has shown strain whilst singing, but she has had by far the hardest songs to sing IMO. Imagine the shambles last weeks effort would have been if Kym had been given her number! I do like Kym, and her voice, but she isn't quite making the performances for me.

I've a sneaky feeling it was a very clever and quick witted defence mechanism, because as good as Rolando is, there's no way he could sing like that without practising, and maybe not even then.

We've always said he's like a swan - glides through water and you don't see the legs going mad beneath to keep him going. When they said on Live at Studio 5 (I think), that he was very calm and he said that they couldn't see the turmoil inside, it just brought that vision of the swan straight into my mind.
I like base and middle, dont like falsetto, but then I dont like falsetto with a lot of singers.

I think I've always preferred men to sound like men. However, there was something about Darius's voice in its top range which still got through to me . I can never forget hearing Simple Like The truth and Mercury Rising live.
They are brilliant. I'd love a GOOD audio of a live 'Mercury Rising'. I just wished I'd taped his rehearsals for the accoustic session at 'Jak's'

I wasn't too keen on the falsetto bit on Friday because it was out of context.

I assume it was that bit where Figaro breaks off lecturing Cherubino to canoodle with his sweetheart. I guess those who knew the aria wouldn't be surprised but to an average viewer it must have looked odd.

now strangely I dislike falsetto, cant stand beegees falsetto songs, dont like Mika..etc..but I DO like darius' I think its because he switches and doesnt over use it,

If I could only listen to one type it would be lower

.....but I just love the way he mixes and matches....keeps me on my toes :D

Damn! I hate my girlie sounding voice :( It only gets deep when I sing :(

Certainly out of context but most people watching are likely to have as little knowledge of opera as I do, so most of what we view is pretty much the same. Given that, and the fact that D was spot on with it's delivery, I think it will help showcase his voice, especially to people who haven't heard him sing anything but deeply. He chose to perform this in a similar way as Bernie chose to hit that extra high note the other week, to show what she was capable of.

I agree with Spam, if I had to choose 1 it would be the lower, but I'm greedy, so I'll take all three thank you very much :D
