Or they should sing 2 duets, one with each mentor!

I just checked on the video and Darius sang the Champagne Aria in just over 1 minute 25. It's not as fast as the best opera singers but pretty much on the button with many more on youtube. That's pretty impressive, don't you think?

Darius won't let stupid things like bookies' odds faze him. He's in the final and got everything to play for.

I doubt D would even know what the odds are, let alone have it faze him. A duet with each mentor would be good and quite interesting, though if D has alienated RV and KJ he could be at a double disadvantage if that were the case.

I can certainly handle D losing, as long as he gets a fair shot at it. What will really P me off is if the bias towards Bernie, and the choice of a poor aria and negative video intro, affects D's chance to win. He's been stifled by song choice and unflattering comments throughout the show(although he has coped admirably with it), it's about time the playing field was levelled! I think the worse thing about this whole nonsense, is that it is clearly happening, but the we have no power to stop it, or even report it to anyone. I suppose it's always going to be part of reality tv, and if D chooses this arena, he'll always be a possible victim of such policies.

as usual I suspect Darius is the only one with a personality..and TV cant resist trying to edit it to give drama, everyone else comes in, doesnt say boo to a goose and is as intersting as dishwater, Darius made PS, he certainly made PI for me..and i suspect they thought he would make this too, like the panto villian!! they dont seem to care that this is a person with feelings, they want some drama

We can only hope that sense will kick in and there will be a good final with both being given the best material for their voices and styles and that they both give their best. That's all anyone can hope for. Somebody has to win and somebody has to lose.

I was really worried when Darius decided to do this but as usual, he was right.....just as he was to go on PI in order to counter some of the excessively cruel press he'd had, although everyone else thought he was crazy.

I'd love him to win but I don't think losing will do much damage. What can they say - they can't say much worse than they were saying before he did this show and far fewer people will believe them.

BTW Darius actually sings from 2.32 to 3.51 on the video. I miscalculated - 1.19 then - that's fast and he kept up with the orchestra.

Re betting

I have a Betfair account online that I use for reality TV shows. It's my real life version of Celebdaq. It's a bit of fun. I wish I'd had faith in my feeling that Alex might win CBB. His odds when he went in were wonderful, but I didn't have enough faith in my hunch. I put my money on Stephanie.

Immediately after the first PSTOS I went in search of betting odds. There were none available until the following day. Up until Friday the odds were against Darius. He was favourite to go (by a good measure) Prior to then they seemed to get the right artist to leave. But they got Darius wrong last week so I'll hope they get him wrong this week too.

I did think that they are doing the same to Darius as they did in PS and PI. It's as if they wanted him in just for the fun of running pieces against him to make him out to be someone he's not. I think it's so wrong that they are so negative about him. If they hadn't been, then he may not have thought they were giving him he couldn't sing again - then they couldn't put the bit about him doing another aria. we were all of the same opinion - it was not a suitable aria for a fair competition. I think he proved himself in that he managed it very well. I'm not surprised he didn't have the confidence to go with it with the history of his previous pieces - 4 wks for them to discover his range.

All the adverts were talking about sopranos and tenors. It seems no one thought to check that these were the ranges suitable for all contestants. His face when they first played 'Nessun Dorma' to him said it all.

Yes, Bernie is all sweetness and light fun, fun, fun and her language skills are superb and Darius is a moany unco-operative divo, who's always scheming and doesn't learn his words, if you've bought what they've been selling.

my parents never mentioned Darius being moany etc, they said he was funny..and that the judges were rather hard on him, and that the last aria seemed difficult!

so hopefully a lot of viewers will be thinking the same(unless they are already wanting to beleive the worst..a post on a huhum fansite read 'he even managed to sing a bit of CB he is so self promoting...well anyone else not already with a long held axe, would have seen Rolando ask him to )

all we can do is hope he pulls out all the stops..and we vote like bleeding merry hell! at worse he comes second

darius says he just found out what he is singing on friday, says he is so happy an dexcited, and its top secret but can we guess....

mmmm

Come on. Darius doesn't need to promote Colourblind of all songs. Rolando asked him to sing it so he could re-sing it the lacklustre way Darius was at that point singing his song.

It's good of D to let us know that he's happy with what he's singing this early. Save us worrying.

Darius is an old hand at playing the role he thinks the audience wants to see - the mask he hides behind.

I want to know who he's duetting with. He said he'd like to sing with Katharine but I'd like it to be Rolando.

Popstar To Operastar Betting - Nolan Bernie Or Darius For Covent Garden?

The final of Popstar to Operastar sees Nolan sister Bernie take on Darius, "I told you I would be famous", Campbell. Marcella Detroit, who looked like she was on course to win the show, and Kym Marsh, who says she will now concentrate on listening to Opera rather than singing it were ousted in last weeks' semi finals.

ITV must have felt they were taking a gamble with their show on their Friday night slot, but it has proved to be a surprising triumph for the producers. Popularising the classic medium through the use of celebrity has been an eye opener to the public and compelling viewing.

At the moment Bernie is favourite with Paddy Power to win the show and her continued progress over the weeks seem to indicate that this might be true. Darius Campbell whilst admired from his famous attack on Simon Cowell in Pop Idol, has always been regarded with a little caution for his apparent arrogance.

British viewers do not take kindly to any hint of superiority, even if it was so long ago and even if in every subsequent interview he has exhibited enormous charm and humility. His achievements on this show have been impressive, there is no doubt about that, but he will have to come on stage with something very special to make the win.

Katherine Jenkins and Rolando Villazon have been the Beauty and the Beast of the mentor side of the show energizing, informing and enthusing their charges, but without Meatloaf, representing the common man, and Llewelyn-Bowen acting in his usual role as mediator of style to the masses, this show would have fallen at the first hurdle. Alan Titmarsh was an interesting choice of host and felt like the only odd piece of such a well conceived jigsaw.

Will the Nolans now launch a new career in Covent Garden?
