Any news about Darius song?

Thanks Meg and Nina. Wasn't that a great interview, so at ease and he comes across as such a nice person, how can people not fail to love him? Glad he seems to have accepted the break up so well . I think it probably happened a while before we heard about it ,so he has had time to come to terms with it. Sue

He said they'd been training 3 weeks for the first show, so discounting the Christmas week, that takes it back to the beginning of December. He said he spent 3 weeks at the hajj with his Dad before that, so he's been away from LA since the end of October at least.

IMHO they're not the kind of couple who'd break up by text, phone or e-mail

Has anyone found a youtube of Fridays song....without the interruption?

I really don't want to put that into the pinned thread.

I'm annoyed that ITV kept Meatloaf's interruption in the Week 4 catch up bit on the Popstar To Operastar site - There's no need for that.

When I was watching Darius, I forgot I was watching Popstar to Opera Star. It was like I was watching the actual opera. It wasn’t Darius, it was Figaro. There wasn’t a Cherubino in the scene but I didn’t really noticed that, there was just so much in Darius’ performance.

from an opera lover's blog of popstar to operastar

Isn't that just like going to see Darius in MT. He comes on stage and you automatically think "Ah, there's Darius at last." but then he sings or acts and suddenly he's not Darius any more. Or that's what always happens with me.

It's nice to hear someone who is making judgements on what is seen and heard rather than preconceptions
that is lovely, he has won her over - I had read her first blog about him, where she said she didnt like him, preconceptions again...
It's a very full blog. She gives her honest opinion about everything on every show including the guest stars.

I like reading what people write, some opera fans, who were saying the proram is rubbish, and are KJ haters(as she isnt an opera singer etc)

well..started off luke warm, admited he had the most musicality and raw talent..to last weeks comment..'Darius darius darius darius for the win' which I assume meant he had won that one over too, I think that last performance really showcased his talent tbh.

Avril and Rachel will be there supporting Darius on Friday. Booth would love to go but not quite able to yet. Darius loves his parents almost as much as they love him. Booth had spent 7 months in London for medical treatment - gets sent home for Christmas and has to miss seeing his son live. If he'd still been at the hospital, he could have made it to the show.
I am glad Rachel and Avril will be there supporting him, such a shame about his dad being so ill, that must have added more strain on a relationship trying to be there for both family and natasha -

The itv.com one has got the vid without Meatloaf.

shame you cant share that one - nothing on youtube :(

its all very quite with no news .perhaps all those brazilian teenys put them off..

Katherine got a lot of hate tweets after the show and they weren't all in foreign languages, and there were quite a few Death to Darius ones in Spanish. I suppose because he was the token 'safe' one left alongside Marcella and Danny.

I can understand written Spanish and I can make out simple things aurally but I'm rubbish at speaking it.

Opera fans are looking for something different fron the average viewer watching for entertainment value. They can hear nuances in voices that I can't. They also know the operas, their plots and characters and appreciate someone who sings well and gets the character over in less than 2 minutes.

I wish they'd let Darius sing the whole of Non Piu Andrai. It's no longer than an average pop song.

Google alert showed this don't think we have it: LINK

Another week, another episode of Popstar to Opera Star. Now down to five, this week is a big one. We have three popstars who have shown surprising aptitude for opera singing: Darius Campbell, Marcella Detroit and Bernie Nolan, and two popstars who have thus far been lucky to ride along the coattails of being popular with the mainstream British public: Danny Jones of McFly and Kym Marsh formerly of Hear’Say and currently of ITV’s own Coronation Street. Edging ever closer to the semi-finals (top four), then final (top three/two), this week will beg the big question: will the popular vote boot out a worthy singer, or someone whose run is rightfully done?

Before we jump in, amazing opera pun of the night: “really isn’t taking the Mikado.” YES. IT’S AWFUL, BUT YES.

Bernie is up first,......

Danny is going second...........

Next up, Kym............

MOVING ON to Darius, who will have to sing his pants off to beat the vote-pulling PR behind Danny and Kym. He’s singing a very famous aria, Non Piu Andrai, from Mozart’s the Marriage of Figaro. Ok, it’s famous if you’re like me and Amadeus is your favorite movie.

It is, without a doubt, Darius’s best performance to date – expertly sung, with beautiful tone and diction, plus his acting is spot-on — charming and funny. While Darius is most likely to do a classical album, it’s almost a shame that he won’t (likely be able to) do a proper opera.

Meatloaf brings the lulz this time, telling Darius his fly is down — whoops! The joys of live TV and a barmy judge.

Which leaves Marcella for last.......

If you needed proof that Popstar to Opera Star was the ultimate gimmick show of WTFery, week four brought it home: Mika is the special guest performer, paired with opera singer Danielle De Neise. … what?

I fear for the worst: if Danny or Kym doesn’t go home, it will be a serious injustice to Marcella, Darius and Bernie. Kym is the first one through – ugh. After that, it’s Bernie. Then THANK GOD, Darius gets through!

Which leaves Danny and Marcella in the bottom two. It would be CRAZY if the panel didn’t keep Marcella. And not another cop out where they tie and put it to the public vote. Meatloaf does a sensible thing, and votes for Marcella. Rolando must be on the crazy juice tonight, which he shared with Laurence — they both choose Danny. Looks like they are going for a split, leaving the final vote with Katherine. How could she not choose Marcella?

Tie. LAME. It goes to the public vote. And the person saved is: Marcella!!!!

Danny is gracious, and seems genuinely happy that Marcella has made it through. He’s had a good time on the show, but he’s no opera singer.

Well I still don't understand opera but I can't think of a better way to be educated than by listening to Darius - just hope he makes it to the final
