Arrgh! My Dvd's playing up. It started a timed recording this norning which I hadn't set then it tried to make the Cd compatible then it seemed to record a snippet OK but it didn't record GMTV although the rec light was on. I'll have to get the manual out and make sure it's tip top before tonight.

I definitely reckon katherine and Bernie will sing the Flower Duet.

I don't know about other people but I think I am going to feel sick all day with worry. My two favourites are in the final which means my heart is saying one thing but my head is saying the other. This is one time when heart will truly rule my head. Just hope my heart (Darius) wins in the end

Rolando's sung it, Jose Carreras has sung it, Placido Domingo has sung it and Samuel Ramey the great bass baritone has also sung it.

 

Matt Munro, Andy Williams, it's on one of Rhydian's albums. Loads of recording artists have had a crack at it . do you see a pattern - most singers who do it are either tenors or baritones singing up their range. It sounds very different sung low by Samuel Ramey

 

I can't imagine how they'll make it into a duet though.

ijust assumed these were pop songs..why train operatic then end on a non operatic song, oh well..its on rolando new album ...

For the first time in this season, I really can't wait.. I really have wanted Darius to sing with Rolando and hope it is the Pearl Fishers. Brilliant if it is. The extra bonus of a second new number with all four singing is fantastic. As I said, I just can't wait to hear tonights performances.

Somewhere was originally sung by PJ Proby. It has what I call money notes in it. Also sung a lot at concerts by Rhydian.as is the impossible dream. I imagine Bernie will sing the money notes in somewhere but Rolando will do the same in the impossible dream.I find both these songs done to death would have preferred an operatic one.

There's a trio version of it on youtube Villazon, Anna Netrebko(?) and Placido domingo singing baritone.

 

Are they going to make Darius sing further up his range? It's the deepest bass notes which are D's money notes, just as Bernie's are the highest ones and she'll have the opportunity to hit a few in Somewhere. I just can't see Darius's deep bass gelling with Rolando's tenor in that piece.

Ive just listened to both Samuel ramsey bass baritone and rolando tenor and I prefer Samuel ramsey singing it. As some people say they dont like Rhydians voice to listen to, the same can be said about Rolandos voice, very similar but the public have been geared to a tenor voice for a long time.

Talking of Samuel Ramey, I just have to post this, it cheered me up!

 

It does have a slight connection to darius I promise.

the worst was rolando..was suprised, but didnt like that, 2008 august that one. some note issues and clarity of wordsmm.LOL

 

am wondering what it will be like, will d be able tosing a pop song operatically..this is a song that probably needs the usical theatre approach. like D's from a distance sound,

I do think Darius deepness will sound good,and as for emotive, it will fit Darius too a tee, "to run where the brave dare not go, this is my quest..

jut adore the sentiment of the song, i feel a lump in my throat and darius isnt singing it yet

 

 

and i promised myself i would never watch sesame st agai now the kidsare grow up....

That's such a shame, I'd have liked the Pearl Fishers but perhaps that wasn't realistic given Rolando's vocal problems at the moment. I do like all the interviews and reports coming through.

Darius shouldn't have any trouble connecting to the sentiments of the song.

 

The problem for both of them will be focusing so the're not tempted to slide back to MT or even pop voice

It is a problem as both will know the song ikn a different style already. At least they wont have to learn another language for it. Has anyone heard what the 4 of them are singing?
