I never understood why the German Chart has a 2 week time lapse

The sales period is also very strange: Friday to next Thursday midnight

That's only because Friday is the day for new releases in Germany.

I know, still very odd why on a Friday

When I saw Owl City enter at no. 7 I thought that was on download sales only. Surprised it didn't enter higher than no. 7 to be honest. Then again, it hardly made progress in Austria last week (climbed 10-08) and Switzerland (climbed 09-08) so I'm unsure if 'Fireflies' will be the big hit I assumed it would be after all.

well Fireflies was number 1 in the last couple of weeks in the German iTunes as far as I know (and remember), but it wasn't allowed to chart until the physicals were out. The physicals were so late, that the song couldn't enter at the top anymore

Yan's German chart comments - Issue date 5.02

Not much happening at the top of the German singles chart, where Kesha, Keri Hilson and Lady Gaga once again occupy the top three positions.

The highest new entry belongs to Owl City, whose global smash "Fireflies" finally charts in Germany at #7. In addition, Herbert Grönemeyer and his amazing "Komm zur Ruhr" flies back to the top 10 from #21.

Further down the chart, DJ Oetzi makes another top 20 hit with "Sweet Caroline", which jumps six positions to #19 and maybe it will go higher. This proves how timing is everything in the music business as the first time around the song's performance was somewhat weak, but now, supported by the carnival fever in the country, it manages to become a hit.

The second highest new entry belongs to Bon Jovi. "Superman Tonight" is the follow-up to "We Weren't Born to Follow", which peaked at #6. The placement of the new single in the top 30 is to show once again that the group has a strong fanbase in Germany.

Next up at #30 we can find the collaboration between Giovanni and Ross Antony. The former is a big TV star in Germany nowadays, and of course this is not the first time the two sing together as they were part of Bro'sis, the second winners of Popstars in Germany, whose career include the number one "I Believe" and four other top 10 singles.

Some movement in the LP chart with German band Tocotronic making their first ever number one with "Schall und Wahn". The guys' previous two albums "Kapitulation" and "Pure Vernunft darf niemals siegen" reached both #3 and were their best placing LPs in Tocotronic's 17-year career.

Get Well Soon, the music project of singer, songwriter and instrumentalist Konstantin Gropper, enters at #11 with its latest album "Vexations", while legend German duo Modern Talking returns to the chart with its best-of CD "25 Years Of Disco-Pop" at #16. As the title suggests it commemorates the 25-year anniversary of Dieter and Thomas' first appearance in the charts. At the same time Lady Gaga, despite giving up the first position, can congratulate herself as her debut album makes a whole year in the Top 100.

No, it was never #1. I think #3 was/is its peak so far.

Yeah, maybe I checked the austrian iTunes, but still it was much higher than its official peak in the end.

I think it was released on Jan22nd, I can't belive they didn't make the top 100

Shame, as it is a much better song than the first single but I guess that it was going to be a flop, so they decided to cancel the release...

are they going to stop the promotion with just one single released?

I do not use to hear that kind of goups but I have to recognize that their last album is much better than I expected.
