Tonights episode has been cancelled because of events in Cumbria.

Dilemma for ITV as can't see how the shooting episode can be shown at all this week.

Very nanny state by ITV

The storyline does not bear any comparison with todays events

If someone goes out tonight and starts bashing people over the head with a cricket bat and some die would the next test be cancelled ? course not

They're a commercial channel. It's perfectly possible that some of tonight's advertisers wanted to withdraw their commercials from the programme. I never watch the programme so I have no idea what the storyline is but there's more than one explanation for the decision to pull the programme.

Spoilers apparently say that

Robbie was shot dead in tonights episode

They made the right decision.

While at the same time keeping in the schedules a film called Walking Tall which is about a hitman ? total double standard

Still time for it to be cancelled.

Apart from the fact Corrie is broadcast between 2 episodes of the massive BGT, whilst that film is shown after 11pm...
Some very angry posters on DS saying Corrie shouldn't have been postponed. Any broadcaster would have done the same. There was a gun and shooting in tonight's episode ffs. They had to cancel it and may do all week and resume next week.
I don't watch Corrie, but I am aware of the story-line, and I think ITV did the right thing. I don't see how they could put it on tomorrow night either. Very unfortunate situation really, put in-between the BGT shows, a major story-line, and the first episodes to be broadcast in HD, so ITV were really trying to get high ratings.

I'd be very very surprised if it's on again this week tbh.

EDIT. An ITV insider has said that it'll return unedited on Saturday with episodes just delayed.

Apparently "unlikely" to air tonight. Siege week is turning into a proper disaster.

I wouldn't mind but I'm not arsed about the siege - I just want to find out how Gail fares!

Yea the verdict is supposed to air on Monday so god knows when we'll see it now.

It's officially cancelled tonight now, likely to cancel tomorrow too.

They can't not show these eps though...

I think this delay is more insulting / insensitive than letting them go ahead as scheduled. It's like saying .... "We're putting it off for this week ... but you'll all have forgotten the tragedy in Whitehaven next week so we'll show it then."

This.

I think they did the right thing in cancelling, otherwise transmit it late at night after the News.
