Sick of the constant shots of Peter looking at Carla now  god graphic run over as well

I missed the last five minutes last night but caught Peter's lingering looks at Carla earlier (who could miss them.) I can't stand Peter - he wishes Carla well and wants her to move on - but only to save himself from temptation - not because he has her genuine happiness at heart.

Brilliant snippet in the Mirror TV comments today about the running over of Stella ... in short - how Frank swapped places with Carla purely so he could take credit for it!

Pretty good tonight. Loved Tyrone getting lucky (even if it had been set up - lifted from a Hill Street Blues scenario about 20 years ago).

Really like Corrie's hospital scenes. Corrie does these scenes more believable than any other soap. In other soaps there's always a 'screeching and a screaming' from relatives of the injured. In the down to earth 'day to day' things - Corrie does its research so much better than the other soaps.

Loved the scene between Carla and Pete tonight. An earlier scene between Deirdre and Steve was hilarious though.

I love Corrie at the moment - best soap on TV at the moment. Yes ... I know soapland isn't bursting with talent and great scenes at present - but I think Corrie is possibly the best of a bad bunch (and just a bit better.)

 this smiley looks a little like Frank's constant expression.

While i have warmed to corrie a tiny bit in recent months (thanks to michelle collins) i have to say the eileen getting her head stuck in the bars just reminded me of why i dont like corrie, i found all those scenes horribly cheap and terribly acted and it just draegged on and on.

I did like the steve and deirdre scenes, and i am enjoying the steve tracy, becky storyline but i just feel for becky, talk about salt been rubbed in your wounds.

All quiet in here atm, maybe because Corrie is a bit dull atm with nothing exciting going on or to look forward to?

I so prefer Corrie to EastEnders, EE just seems too dreary half the time while Corrie has some good comedy in it :D

Me too. I must admit - I have loved the Zainab storyline in EE - but apart from that - its a load of crap (and I just cannot abide Alfie Moon).

I'm loving David and Kylie in Corrie and there was a lovely little scene with Gail and David - when she threw the Stephen King book at him (hit him in the naughty bits) and said 'think yourself lucky you were too stingy to buy me the hardback'.

I loved Eileen drawing on the turkey (but I really wish they'd give up on that fireman story - he was crap in Hollyoaks and he's crap in Corrie).

Corrie has been brilliant over the Xmas period - but it really has to kick this Sian/Sophie lesbian storyline into touch. Gay storylines are fabulous as long as it concerns characters people actually LIKE! Haven't Corrie writers got it into their heads yet that no-one gives a flying f*ck about Sophie!

Now if it was Rosie .... !!!!!!

Corrie is on fire at the moment. The only chink in its armour is the ridiculous 'dementia' storyline (a bit of an extra blow in that its relegating one of its finer comediennes to bit player.)

As to who killed Frank? I think its his mother!

Definitely his mother - I think she overheard the rape admission and just got handy with that whiskey bottle.

Why oh why have they brought Sean back? I was kind of hoping some gigantic crocodile would wolf him up in I'm a Celebrity or they'd just keep him locked up in solitary confinement in Oz for crimes against gayness... but no, he's back and camper and more ghastly than ever. He's only still in the soap because his best mate writes the thing these days.

Ugh, I'm a gay man, and he makes even me homophobic.

And I wish someone would lend Eileen that whiskey bottle - apart from a rare moment of lucidity when she screamed blue murder at Sean, I think the dementia storyline really has run its course. So it's either a miraculous recovery for her or imminent death because guys, this story just aint working.

Its a major fly in the ointment in what is otherwise a rather brilliant period for Coronation Street. It has NEVER worked. I've thought it has always been in poor taste - and with no discernible outcome in sight for it.

Apart from this though EVERYTHING is going right for Corrie at the moment. The comedy is spot-on (loved Deirdre and that kid who has moved into Steve/Tracey's house - their mutual love of pottery). The satellite dish making everyone's TV's go snowy. Peter Barlow being brilliant at the Bistro (with Norris). And if it wasn't for the fact that I can remember him the first time on the Street - I can hardly believe that Philip Lowry is 75 years old!) I even like Nigel Havers at the moment.

On fire? Really? The Frank storyline is tripe, not to mention a total recycling of Who Killed Archie? and Emmerdale's recent whodunnit. Frank is pure panto villain and of course you've got the obligatory 'I'm gonna kill 'im!' comments from every suspect. Lazy lazy writing. Frank has been a truly dire character from the word go though... never has anybody in soap had less charisma.

Says you! I can't even comment in comparison at EE at the moment because my husband (a 110% commited EE fan - has stopped watching because of its incredible SHITENESS!)

On this occasion - you're wrong. Corrie is BRILLIANT (and I HAD been going off it lately - but have been drawn back).

Glad EE is doing bad in the ratings - possibly due to the fact that its playing up to its pre-teen audience and losing a lot of its older fans. C'est la vie!

Ooooh! And as for lazy writing - well - I think Eastenders has LONG held the rights to that! Face it JARK - Corrie is MILES better than EE at the moment. Having said that - Hollyoaks, Emmerdale, Neighbours, Home and Away - heck - even Doctors is way ahead of EE at the moment.

Sure - the fanboys will make sure that EE wins prizes - but it can't disguise the fact that at this moment in time - Eastenders is flagging badly.

I must admit though - I'm disappointed hubby has stopped watching EE - as I have no cause to wind him up anymore!

You know Kath it makes me laugh how every time I raise a valid criticism of Corrie the only way you can respond is to score points by ranting about EE! :D This is not the EastEnders topic. I honestly can't imagine how anybody who watched and enjoyed Corrie during the 90s could look at it now and think 'classic Corrie!'. It's so mean spirited and cold. All of the women are nasty banshees. (Sally is surely the ultimate example of this. Never has a more black-hearted harridan roamed soap looking down her nose at everybody when her own life is not exactly a desirable one.) The men are weak and pathetic. There's the odd good comic character but there's no getting around the fact that it's a show without a soul which lurches from one sensational, headline-grabbing stunt to the next with nothing of interest in between beyond Gail and Audrey being camp.

For the record I don't think EastEnders is in its prime right now whatsoever. Emmerdale is the one to watch. It's been superb for months now, without the need for perpetual stunts and prison sentences and car crashes and bank robberies and rapists.

Hmm I think Coronation Street is having a great run atm, its fantastic. I agree about the dementia storyline, bit silly Eileen deserves better storylines. I think Frank's been a great villain I'm gutted hes gone already, was kind of on his side as I can't stand Peter or Carla. As for Sally, shes probably the number 1 reason I tune in to watch it atm, I love how Gail's become more of a comedy character atm rather than her being sad, I love her anyway but atm shes brilliant! I hope Phil Collinson sticks around for a long time, he knows what hes doing!
