March 30, 201015 yr So the UK are performing 12th on the night? Practically halfway through, I fail to see how our non-entry is going to stand out and make enough impact with 13 other songs still to be performed. I suspect we will be forgotton about and quite predictably have a disaster of a year. :D Good call for Germany. Having heard 'Satellies' it's a pretty decent track so performing 22nd (?) might give Germany the edge we had last year; good song, great performance (I assume Lena will), performing near the end, discovered via a talent search show. Germany to come 5th!!! ;) Oh, and I like the French entry. It's extremely cheesey but that synth bassline is brill.

March 30, 201015 yr Or hopefully three or four places higher When I first heard 'Satellites' it made me think of 'Jungle Drum' by Emiliana Torrini - just at a slower tempo. Might explain a lot as 'Jungle Drum' was no. 1 for eight weeks in Germany last year so the track obviously had a massive impact on the Germans. ^_^

Like it or not, at least Germany are sending a song reflecting the sound that is currently popular in the country and charts. Not that the UK charts aren't full of dated bubblegum Europop of course :drama: we literally never send any song that represents us properly - there are no grand ballads, Europop, 70's disco throwbacks or ethnic pop in our charts, yet these form our last few entries  why don't we just send Electro R&B, indie pop or electro pop? They seem to dominate here and would represent us far better.
March 30, 201015 yr The current state the UK charts are in (e.g. Tinie Tempah), I'm glad we don't send something that represents whats popular in the UK :P

March 30, 201015 yr What about something like Florence/Ellie/Marina? Quirky indie females are hugely popular here - not sure exactly how any of these would do at ESC though  I didn't necessarily mean grime/rap with my statement before :heehee:
March 31, 201015 yr France is now voting in the first semi-final! This is good because the probability of some crap getting through is smaller now (unless France will actually vote for this $h!t )
March 31, 201015 yr Bollocks! I was hoping France would throw some pointage towards Ireland! :arrr: But at least that's twelve less for Armenia/Turkey. :kink: Good for Belgium, though! And very bad for the Swiss! :P Edited March 31, 201015 yr by Cal

March 31, 201015 yr Good for Belgium, though! And very bad for the Swiss! :P Exactly what I was going to say, but due to the quality of each semi-final that they are in, I think Belgium would get through without French support, and I don't think Switzerland would get through even with French support. Anyway, this is similar to last year when Spain asked to change the semi-final they voted in - then used a jury
