May 20, 201015 yr Author CHEESY FOLK MUSIC? CHEESY FOLK MUSIC? CHEESY FOLK MUSIC?    It was taken as a personal insult :smoke: lolz I guess i'm too pasionate about ESC.
May 20, 201015 yr I haven't ordered them yet, but I'm thinking Germany, Ireland and Sweden could be my favourites? :cheer: I like every song that you like. At least your not like Pavel, calling a piece of crap "Amazing" :P Sorry Pavel, no offence. At times, I really like your music taste. But sometimes, it is simply awful :(
May 20, 201015 yr Nice to see your views on them Aaron, and you picked some great favourites  YES, finally someone who thinks the same about the Estonian entry as me - it's very indie-ish and could easily be from an album of a 'hyped' 2010 artist. I don't love it, but I do like it and I'm not sure why everyone else despises it so much. It's hardly Macedonia/Russia type bad. The video is incredibly bizarre too, very 'out there'. I thought the indie people might take to it a least being basically the only indie song in the contest, but no it's dead last in Pavel's rankings
May 20, 201015 yr Author I'm not talking about the Finnish entry, it's just how the hell folk music can be called cheesy. Hence ESC is crap. Well, maybe you don't like folk music, that's more than understandable but calling it cheesy, when you don't know what uncheesy is. It's just like basically saying that every pop song is cheesy. Sorry it's too weird for me, nothing personal or anything, Aaron, at all btw. <3 Edited May 20, 201015 yr by Ljósið

(27) 27 Finland: Kuunkuiskaajat - Työlki Ellää (25) 28 Israel: Harel Skaat - Milim (26) 29 Portugal: Filipa Azevedo - Há Dias Assim (29) Awful 30 Serbia: Milan Stankovic - Ovo Je Balkan (30) 31 Lithuania: InCulto - Eastern European Funk (33) 32 Russia: Music Group of Peter Nalitch - Lost And Forgotten (36) 33 Greece: Giorgos Alkaios & Friends - Opa (32) 34 Ukraine: Alyosha - Sweet People (31) 35 Poland: Marcin Mrozinski Legenda (37) 36 Spain: Daniel Diges - Algo Pequeñito (35) 37 Bosnia & Herzegovina: Vukašin Brajić - Thunder And Lightning (34) 38 Slovenia: Anzambel Roka Žlindere & Kalamari - Narodnozabavni Rock (38) 39 FYR Macedonia: Gjoko Taneski - Jas Ja Imam Silata (39) What have we learnt? Satellite is still miles better than everything else for me, and there is a distinct excellent pack, some way behind Germany, but some way ahead of France consisting of Iceland, Ireland and Azerbaijan. A lot more songs have become awful since getting the CD, but Russia is surprisingly a lot less awful than some of the monstrosities on show this year. It has something resembling a tune at least, which I can't say about the bottom three here. Bulgaria and Georgia are incredibly close to not being average anymore, and there's the usual spread of action in the 'Very Good' section! I maintain that it's my least favourite contest quality wise since 2002 though so far, where my Satellite was 7th Wonder, Come Back and Runaway were my chasing pack, and everything else was way behind. We'll see if anything changes after the final though...
May 20, 201015 yr Author You must be forgetting my obsession with accordion sounds. <3 It took so long to realise this song is amazing for me! :o
May 20, 201015 yr CHEESY FOLK MUSIC? CHEESY FOLK MUSIC? CHEESY FOLK MUSIC?    It was taken as a personal insult :smoke: lolz I guess i'm too pasionate about ESC. Yes. :cheer: I like every song that you like. At least your not like Pavel, calling a piece of crap "Amazing" :P Sorry Pavel, no offence. At times, I really like your music taste. But sometimes, it is simply awful :( Well, I'm much more of a casual Eurovision fan. With me it's more a case of putting the CD on expecting to hating it all and being surprised to find stuff I like. Nice to see your views on them Aaron, and you picked some great favourites  YES, finally someone who thinks the same about the Estonian entry as me - it's very indie-ish and could easily be from an album of a 'hyped' 2010 artist. I thought the indie people might take to it a least being basically the only indie song in the contest, but no it's dead last in Pavel's rankings  Haha, I think I was already introduced to some of the best songs by you or Tyron. I'm surprised to see hate for Estonia too, it reminds me of something either HURTS or Delphic might come out with, maybe? It's far from awful. I'm not talking about the Finnish entry, it's just how the hell folk music can be called cheesy. <3 Well, take it from me, the Finnish entry is the sort of thing our country looks at and uses to justify the perception that Eurovision is a joke. Perhaps folk isn't the word as I'd use to describe Laura Marling, who I love. What I mean is the combination of accordian(?), violin and the vocals remind me of something you'd see people dancing to in dusty streets, not sending to Eurovision. I just find it rubbish. Then again, this is what I thought about "Fairytale".

What I mean is the combination of accordian(?), violin and the vocals remind me of something you'd see people dancing to in dusty streets, not sending to Eurovision. I just find it rubbish. Then again, this is what I thought about "Fairytale". There's a the whole culture whose music is this combination of violin, accordion, etc. They're called Gypsy people (and not those who walk on the streets asking for money nowadays, even though they dress like gypsies). My mom knew many gypsy people in her time, but it was completely different time back then. However the culture still exists in the country. You are sounding pretty disrespectful if you ask my opinion though, like this music has to be banned from sending onto Eurovision as it's some kind of fancy VIP thing. If you want some really average gypsy motives in a song then listen to last year's 'Aven Romale'. :kink:
May 20, 201015 yr Aaron  I LOVE your rankings Rich, I'm on Pavel's side here. I find Latvia "very good", quite close to amazing. Not average at all.

On the brighter side for 2010, I now have time for 27 tracks. On the less bright side, that's still the weakest performance for some years this close to the contest.

May 20, 201015 yr I know everyone has the right to their own opinion, but still...  . It's an interesting song, plus I adore the 8 second folky parts at 25 secs and 1:09! Also, I love Slovenia as a country anyway so that helps. I'm quite notorious for liking the supposed terrible entries. Slovakia was in my top 10 at this point last year  I still love Let' Tmou

Wow, nice and belated jump for Belgium :cheer: I've just written up my new personal chart to be posted tomorrow and it features one Eurovision song in the top ten - 9 days before the contest, this is a dire state of affairs (at the same stage in 2004 I had seven in the top ten!) but I can't work out if it's just because music outside of Eurovision is unusually strong for May at the moment, whether the songs are just not to my taste this year as much as usual, or a combination of both? :o
