March 8, 201015 yr Well I've got a psychology report I should be writing, so I think I'll give this a shot for the first time! I'm going to judge this by an average year's standards, not by this year's standard. Excellent 1. Ireland: Niamh Kavanagh - It's For You (I love love love this, and I love love love Niamh) 2. Romania: Paula Seling feat Ovi - Playing With Fire (the only song that could possibly be in the final shake-up in another year) 3. Denmark: Chanée & N'evergreen - A Moment Like This (I really like this, but I don't expect Europe to) Very good 4. Norway: Didrik Solli-Tangen - My Heart Is Yours (I predict that this will bring the house down, then do an Anna Vissi) Good 5. Turkey: MaNga - We Could Be The Same (on any other year it would be a solid top ten contender, this year it's probably a potential winner) 6. Iceland: Hera Björk - Je Ne Sais Quoi (so generic, and I'm shocked this is so high on my list) 7. Albania: Juliana Pasha - It's All About You (see number 6) 8. Belgium: Tom Dice - Me And My Guitar (very cute but quite dull. I hope they at least get a qualification out of it) 9. Georgia: Sopho Nizharadze - Shine 10. Croatia: Feminnem - Lako Je Sve 11. Belarus: Two Plus Three - Far Away Just about average: 12. Switzerland: Michael von der Heide - Il Pleut de L'or (I don't think this one will grow on me any more after all this time) 13. Moldova: Sunstroke Project feat Olia Tira - Run Away 14. Malta: Thea Garrett - My dream 15. Cyprus: Jon Lilygreen & The Islanders - Life Looks Better In Spring 16. Bulgaria: Miro - Angel Si Ti (could be about ten positions higher if it had more lyrics) 17. Latvia: Aisha - What For? (could be about ten positions higher if it had no lyrics) 18. Ukraine: Vasyl Lazarovich - I Love You (might grow when I hear the studio version) Not feeling anything for (or actively dislike) these 19. Lithuania: Inculto - Eastern European Funk (thought I liked this when I first heard it...but I don't) 20. Spain: Daniel Diges - Algo Pequeñito (it'll do better than people expect but I'll never like it) 21. Netherlands: Sieneke - Ik Ben Verliefd (Sha-La-Lie) (just send the Smurfs and be done with it) 22. Slovakia: Kristína - Horehronie 23. FYR Macedonia: Gjoko Taneski feat. Billy Zver & Pejcin - Jas ja imam silata 24. Slovenia: Anzambel Roka Žlindere & Kalamari - Narodnozabavni Rock 25. Finland: Kuunkuiskaajat - Työlki Ellää (I would have preferred almost all of their national final songs to this but at least it bloody stands out) 26. Armenia: Eva Rivas - Apricot Stone 27. Poland: Marcin Mroziński - Legenda (to be fair I've not really given this much of a chance so it could rise) 28. Portugal: Filipa Azevedo - Há Dias Assim Possibly the worst Eurovision song of all time 29. Russia: Music group of Peter Nalitch - Lost And Forgotten (I was utterly lost for words when I heard this) Note the severe shortage of above-average uptempo songs. At the moment the only songs I can even picture being in the final shake-up are Romania and Turkey, and possibly Norway or Ireland.

March 8, 201015 yr Norway are still great but it's no Fairytale :( A1 would have been almost on par for me though  I know, but I mean.. the quality is as good, but.. I get what you say.. I had it on but then I started thinking :P
March 8, 201015 yr Once Didrik's won with a margin of 150 odd points and had a Europe-wide smash then maybe I'll re-evaluate my thinking, but in terms of combining contemporary pop, native Norwegian folk influences, originality and a catchy tune with mass appeal Fairytale was second to none, whereas My Heart Is Yours is essentially You Raise Me Up and I'll Leave My Heart put through a blender...:heehee: Still great, but not particularly innovative and certainly not on par with Fairytale (for me at least)... Norway couldn't really have expected to go anywhere but down unless they sent Lady GaGa premiering the lead single from her new album :heehee:
March 8, 201015 yr Can't be bothered to do rankings right at this moment, so I'll steal the quality idea (quality compared to 2009) Albania  Armenia Belarus Belgium  Bulgaria  Croatia Cyprus [really like this, but I LOVED their 2009 entry] Denmark Finland FYR Macedonia Georgia [nothing can beat their anti-Putin song :kink:] Iceland Ireland [*see Cyprus] Latvia  Lithuania Malta Moldova Netherlands Norway Poland Portugal Romania [*see Cyprus] Russia [well...I'd rather listen to this then be buried alive] Slovakia Slovenia Spain Switzerland Turkey  Ukraine Two up's for major improvement, two down's for major downfall
March 9, 201015 yr Author I will do the same :kink: Albania Armenia Belarus Belgium Bulgaria Croatia Cyprus Denmark Finland FYR Macedonia Georgia Iceland Ireland Israel :kink: Latvia Lithuania Malta Moldova Netherlands Norway Poland Portugal Romania Russia Slovakia Slovenia Spain Switzerland Turkey Ukraine MAJOR down's for Russia, Ukraine, Albania and Portugal! March 12, 201015 yr Just finished listening to the 35 (?) songs so far entered and my rankings are: 1. Armenia - instantly likeable, sounds like a winner... but i've only heard studio version so maybe wont deliver 2. Serbia - Balkan with a twinge of reggae ! 3. Turkey - sounds contemporary.Good song. 4. Germany - catchy and interesting voice 5. Romania - instantly catchy and should do well 6. Denmark - good song very eighties American 7. Russia - good song for Eurovision but not sure about his voice or stage presence 8. Norway - bookies favourite but very predictable 9. Sweden - credible song but not very memorable 10. Finland - ethnic and a bit different 11. Holland -guilty pleasure. Very 70's and typically Dutch. Not surprising as written by Pierre Kartner aka Father Abraham. Will probably bomb. 12. Slovakia - another ethnic effort 13. Spain - catchy and quirky 14. Cyprus - could be top Brit song...Welsh is he not ? Not much Greek Cypriot about this. 15. Belgium - not usual Euro fare but a bit dull 16. Moldova - lively effort but average 17. Albania - ditto 18. Ireland - totally predictable but good voice 19. Greece - could be interesting stage performance 20. Bulgaria - average 21. Iceland - catchy but predictable 22. Estonia - good song but not instant 23. Portugal - nice voice 24. Croatia - also well sung but forgettable 25. United Kingdom - disappointing 26. Ukraine - dated and heard it all before 27. Poland - forgetable 28. Georgia - good voice but dull song 29. Macedonia - dull song and voice 30. Latvia - dull 31. Malta - yawn 32. Switzerland - zzzzz 33. Belarus - doesn't do much 34. Slovenia - dire 35. Lithuania - bit of a joke but dont think it will come last in contest Edited March 14, 201015 yr by moth09
March 12, 201015 yr 3. Russia - good song for Eurovision but not sure about his voice or stage presence   Each to their own, I suppose
March 12, 201015 yr Yes there seems to be a lot of negative comments about the Russian entry but I suspect it will be one of those songs that it will go no points in Western Europe and bucket loads in Eastern Europe !
March 13, 201015 yr I agree about your comments about the Danish entry, it's like a Starship/Boy Meets Girl song or something...I give it a year before some house music producer takes the chorus and loops it into a 'Falling Stars' style dance song :heehee:
March 13, 201015 yr 4 new entries, courtesy of last night; Excellent 01 Ireland: Niamh Kavanagh - It's For You 02 Germany: Lena Meyer-Landrut - Satellite 03 Norway: Didrik Solli-Tangen - My Heart Is Yours 04 Denmark: Chanée & N'evergreen - In A Moment Like This 05 Moldova: Sunstroke Project feat Olia Tira - Run Away 06 Romania: Paula Seling feat Ovi - Playing With Fire 07 Croatia: Feminnem - Lako Je Sve 08 Estonia: Malcom Lincoln - Siren 09 Iceland: Hera Bjork - Je Ne Sais Quoi Very Good 10 Belgium: Tom Dice - Me & My Guitar 11 Slovakia: Kristina - Horehronie 12 Cyprus: Jon Lilygreen & The Islanders - Life Looks Better In Spring 13 Turkey: MaNga - We Could Be The Same No comment 14 United Kingdom: Josh - That Sounds Good To Me Good 15 Armenia: Eva Rivas - Apricot Stone 16 Malta: Thea Garrett - My Dream 17 Latvia: Aisha - What For? When the studio leaks I expect it will climb higher. It's better than a lot of the unlistenable songs selected but still, it's no hit. Lena Meyer-Landrut is the new 'best thing since sliced bread' the Satellite studio version is perfection but as a singer I think she's absolutely fantastic! Hope it does well for Germany, they've clearly put a lot of effort in this year!
