Gaga is gonna whoop everyone's ass next year :kink:

Go JB in the Top 10! :cheer:

They (and P!nk) sold more tickets than Madonna at #4... but she's more expensive :P.

Not suprised at #1 haha, thanks for posting.

shows the importance of being popular in america because there is a bigger populkation so more people will buy youre tickets!!

Does this topic belongs in the "UK Chart Chat" forum?

Furthermore, Take That should be on that list. Their Circus tour earned 50 million pounds which equals 78 million dollars, more than the Eagles.

Have a nice day.

ps. My dad's called Steve, not 201 though. Could be the two hundred and first steve in my family, you never know, that'd be such a coincidence.

Do you have a boyfriend or girlfriend, or wife called Vicki by any chance?

Yes. It is worldwide list. So it deserves to be in this forum and others, tbh.

It still is an extremely US-centric list though. Take That, for example, should be on that list but, since they're not famous in the US, they aren't.

Just because Take That is not on the list doesn't make it US-centric.

Take a look at the website which can be found on the first post. I don't know why TT aren't on the list, but I'm sure there is a valid reason.

Pink at #7  she so deserves that!

I think its because they're only including acts that took in the US in their touring. If you look at the whole top 50 - TT aren't anywhere in there. Number 50 is Simon & Garfunkel (I didn't know 50% of them were still alive) grossing 28M. I'm sure even apart from Take That ... there are other acts who grossed more than that but just didn't take in any US venues.

Scratch that last comment ... on closer inspection of the 50 - Cliff Richard & The Shadows are in there at 34 and I seriously doubt they took in any US venues. I think its just a case of them not having all the data at hand. If this were an accurate list TT would definitely be in there ... not in the top 10 perhaps but certainly inside the 30.

Aha! Being the investigative soul that I am ... I sent an email off to Pollstar to see what criteria they based their list on ... here's the answer.

Hi Kath,

Our charts are based on what's been reported to us. Unfortunately we

didn't receive very much information on Take That. Hopefully when they

see that they've been omitted they will contact us. Thanks for your

question and have a great day.

Salud!

ps - maybe Gary and the guys just don't want people to know how much money they have!

They would be in the Top 20. According to BBC, their tour made 50 million pounds which is 78 million dollars. So they would be at 16th-18th.

But yes, based on the e-mail they sent you, we can't blame Pollstar for not including them.

Thanks Kath! SO yes, not US-centric.

It is US-centric. Since they're a magazine who's whole point is to track those things down, it's not like they should be waiting Take That's people to send them everything without them moving a finger. Until Norma e-mailed them, they probably had no idea TT should be on the list. I'm pretty sure they would GO AFTER the numbers if it was a famous American popstar but since it isn't (and they're not famous in the US), they don't care if the list is not complete.

No that's not true. Britney Spears sent off the information, I know this because the webmaster at her official website said that she hoped the Austrailia shows were processed in enough time for it to be sent off. So I'm pretty sure every artist on that list did the same thing.
