I'll comment on the Top 10 & highlight what I like of the remainder:

1. Elaine Paige & Barbara Dickson - I Know Him So Well - The best song that Abba never recorded.

2. King - Love And Pride - A great catchy tune that has dated horribly.

3. Ashford & Simpson - Solid - A great catchy tune that still sounds great today.

4. Bruce Springsteen - Dancing In The Dark - The Boss goes commercial; like Bowie this album marked his career sales/profile high water mark ..... but also marked the beginning of a career & creative slump until the 21st century.

5. Foreigner - I Want To Know What Love Is - Sadly Mariah Carey's awful cover has badly hurt my love of this rather good gospelly AOR track.

6. Prince - 1999/Little Red Corvette - Two brilliant songs. Peerless.

7. Howard Jones - Things Can Only Get Better - A rather catchy piece of lightweight pop fluff.

8. Russ Abbot - Atmosphere - The 1980s TV funnyman's cover of the Joy Division classic...... only kidding.

9. Art Of Noise - Close (To The Edit) - A very clever, creative track.

10. Kirsty MacColl - A New England - Kirsty's cover of the Billy Bragg original is an improvement on the original.

13. Colourfield - Thinking Of You

14. David Bowie & Pat Metheny Group - This Is Not America

16. Tears For Fears - Shout

17. Commodores - Nightshift

18. Strawberry Switchblade - Since Yesterday

19. Dead Or Alive - You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)

21. Big Sound Authority - This House - This new wave soul revue act were signed to Paul Weller's short lived Respond record label. Quite simply a great pop tune that time has forgotten.

23. Madonna - Like A Virgin

24. Killing Joke - Love Like Blood

26. Smiths - How Soon Is Now

28. Sharpe & Numan - Change Your Mind

31. George Benson - 20/20

33. Wham! - Everything She Wants/Last Christmas

38. Band Aid - Do They Know It's Christmas

39. Don Henley - The Boys Of Summer

1985 is a year that is tumbleweed for me. The electro soul of the early 80s had died out, but it was a little while before house music set in... Can I find anyything on here I like?

6. Prince - 1999/Little Red Corvette

19. Dead Or Alive - You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)

26. Smiths - How Soon Is Now

33. Wham! - Everything She Wants/Last Christmas (not Last xmas, the flipside was alright though)

I remember watching Top of the Pops a lot at this time, I think I might have even liked Elaine and Barbara. I know I definitely liked King even though I was a bit confused as I assumed there was some relationship between Paul King and the band Queen and some blood relationship between Prince and S/A/W act Princess. I was only seven though...

I'd now happily listen to...

2. King - Love And Pride

4. Bruce Springsteen - Dancing In The Dark - even though its so bloody cheesy, but I likes that soft synth.

6. Prince - 1999/Little Red Corvette

8. Russ Abbot - Atmosphere - well, I'm happy to watch the video which seems to be clips from somebody's Dad's 40th birthday knees-up at the local social club.

9. Art Of Noise - Close (To The Edit)

10. Kirsty MacColl - A New England

16. Tears For Fears - Shout

18. Strawberry Switchblade - Since Yesterday

19. Dead Or Alive - You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)

26. Smiths - How Soon Is Now

32. Ray Parker Jnr - Ghostbusters

3. Ashford & Simpson - Solid ..... one of those tracks that sits in your head and you cant get rid of. dont really like it.

17. Commodores - Nightshift .... cheese ... utter cheese.

18. Strawberry Switchblade - Since Yesterday ... great intro, great track, uplifting, happy, full of delightful expectation.

19. Dead Or Alive - You Spin Me Round (Like A Record).... getting abit overplayed now. going down in my book.

20. Chicago - You're The Inspiration..... pass the sick bucket, how a once great jazz/rock outfit sank (similar to fleetwood mac) from inspiring, originality into bland aor.

21. Big Sound Authority - This House

22. Pat Benatar - We Belong

23. Madonna - Like A Virgin...... in her best period imho.

24. Killing Joke - Love Like Blood
