.... i was going off your flag in your avartar...:)

Hehe, changed my place. Like some other millions romanian actually  . We like to explore other horizonts

Savage Garden - Savage Garden

Tsunami Bomb - The Ultimate Escape

Radiohead - Hail to the Thief

Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand

Sufjan Stevens - Illinois

Joanna Newsom - Ys

Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavillion

I came to some sort of musical revelation through these seven albums, though it does not necessarily mean I like them (specifically Tsunami Bomb lawlz). fin.

This isn't exactly retro, but i'm only 20 so my idea of retro is still 98-02 :drama:

Abba - Abba Gold: I remember watching Abbamania on TV, and having got the album that was released with it [The original Abbamania with B*Witched et al] i went after the originals and bought Abba Gold in MVC - Glenrothes. It was a switch from the Spice Girls/B*Witched i had been listening to until that point. It opened a few doors to me, that while i didn't immediately leap through, they lead to my music taste progressing. I still love this album.

Shania Twain - Come On Over: This album was played in my house for quite sometime along with the Lighthouse Family's Ocean Drive when i was growing up. My parents loved them both. It was the first time i'd really listened to Country Music, and i have a soft spot for a bit of Taylor Swift now because of it. I never really got into the album much beyond the singles but it was an album i quite liked to put on for a random spin on the old stereo every now an then.

Sugababes - Angels With Dirty Faces: I made the leap into mainstream pop music after hearing Round Round for the first time on music channels. It was everywhere and i just couldn't get get enough of it. I got the album for Christmas in 2002 and it started my love affair with the Sugababes. The love is still there now, but it's taken a lot of knocks over the past 6months. I still hate Shape, but that god awful disaster aside it's an album that i still play regularly. And not just the hits but 'Switch', 'Supernatural', 'Virgin Sexy' in particular.

Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand: This was my first foray into 'Alternative' music. I'd never been one for Guitar lead male tracks, but there was something about the Franz that i loved. I have all three of their albums, but imo their debut is by far their best. After getting this it's lead to me getting into the Fratellis and a few other tracks/albums from that Genre.

Sugababes - Taller In More Ways: Please don't lynch mob me for having two Sugababes albums in here, this in my opinion was their last truly great album. A classic Sugababes album, with it's mix of Pop and RnB it made me into the SugaLoon i am today. I haven't missed buying a single of theirs in release week since Push The Button was released in 2005. While Mutya leaving was pretty gutting, Amelle's joining gave me my all time favourite track. Now You're Gone.

Dragonette - Galore: My current music taste really started to take shape after i fell in love with Dragonette. The TrashyElectropop band supported the Sugababes on their Greatest Hits tour and i fell head over heels for I Get Around. I couldn't find an mp3 anywhere before i went to the gig, so i ripped the music video from youtube and me and my best mate were sat outside Hall4 of the SECC for hours listening to it. I bought the album on it's release date, and my god it's good. I can listen to it the entire way though without skipping a single track. My music taste really took a dip into Electropop around this time. It really built on the Dace phase my mother and i went through at the turn of the millennium, where Puretone's Addicted To Bass was my favourite track for years. Worshiping of La Roux and Little Boots was to follow and the godly Smack Me.

Gabriella Cilmi - Lessons To Be Learned: Hello soulful singer song-writer. I adore Gabriella and this album is sensational. Very singer-songwriter, and she has quite a soulful voice. I love stuff live Duffy's album thanks to this. Lesson's To Be Learned is another album i can listen to the entire way through without wanting to skip a track, highlights for me are Don't Wanna Go To Bed Now and Safer. The two tracks couldn't be more different.

Honourable Mentions:

Spice Girls - Spice: My First album

Sugababes - Three: My favourite album of all time

Lily Allen - Alright, Still: I love Lily's Style of singing and am very much into Kate Nash etc because of this

Maria Haukaas Storeng - Hold On Be Strong: Really lead the Scandipop invastion

Jessica Mauboy - Been Waiting: Stumbled across Jessica's track Burn on an internal flight i did in Australia, bought the album and love it. First properly RnB album i own

Maria  what a fantastic album that was! So classy, you wouldn't know she had anything to do with Eurovision, she fit the whole pop-soul boom of 2008 perfectly! Hold On Be Strong is one of the few ESC songs that I'll listen to all year round, just a fantastic song which (along with Mine All Mine) could have been big here if Radio had bothered supporting her...

mine then;

1. The Corrs - Talk On Corners - The first album I ever received, and still one of my all time favourites. Absolutely brilliant collection which never falters - well deserved it's title as #1 selling album of 1998.

2. ATB - Movin' Melodies - This guy got me into dance music with 9PM (Till I Come) and I was so impressed that I got this album on import soon after. Very pleased that I did, incredibly solid debut and further ignited my passion for the genre.

3. Delta Goodrem - Innocent Eyes - My favourite album of all time. It was a hard period of my life anyway and I felt like music had hit an all time low. This album lifted my spirits, helped me through some big changes in my life. I felt like I could relate to every single song on it. It reminded me that when pop's good, it's excellent.

4. Sarah McLachlan - Afterglow - Entering my mature singer/songwriter phase, this album was one of my favourites during my college years. Short but sweet at 10 tracks, it brings back a hell of a lot of good memories despite being a fairly downbeat album topic and music wise. Very powerful.

5. Kelly Clarkson - Breakaway - The pop/rock phase - see also The Veronicas and countless others. This 'sound' became one of my most listened to for a good two or three years and my obsession with it is testament to this brilliant album. Completely unexpected, I bought it on the day of release expecting it to be one of those I'd listen to once and file away but I was shocked at the 'greatest hits' nature of it i.e., nearly every song could have made a good single. She quickly became one of my favourite artists.

6. Lily Allen - Alright Still - The soundtrack to my summer 2006, easily the best summer of my life for a number of reasons. I remember it being long, hot with good friendships and this amazing debut album. Hearing LDN, Knock 'Em Out or Everything's Just Wonderful takes me right back to happier times where I was a lot more (stress) free and loving life to the max.

7. Colbie Caillat - Coco - Mid 2007 is when I really started to discover music via the internet. I mean I had before this but had usually relied more on the radio/TV. But Colbie was my first big personal MySpace discovery. Heard a couple of tracks, loved them, ordered the album, it became one of my favourite albums of the noughties. From this point onwards I have found 90% of music on the internet.

It's a stunning album. I find it very easy to study to as it's quite mellow.

Mine All Mine is sublime, and Hold On Be Strong is epic. I never would have had it pegged as a ESC song.

My mum despises Eurovision with a passion but wanted a copy of Maria's album after she heard me playing it. I never yet told her it's Eurovision related :kink: Aside from the two singles, Leaving You For Good is fantastic, like the sequel to Toni Braxton's He Wasn't Man Enough!

Never Let Go is my third fave from the album  I quite like Love Come Walking In and Lazy as well.

Lazy and Never Let Go are my 4th and 5th favourites  The whole album is great though!
