the rest is the biggest pile of doggy doo doo ever... utter cack. todays chart is better.

Sometimes I wonder what kind of music you actually do like Rob. I mean how can you say that 36 out of those 40 are crap?

Carpenters, Helen Reddy, Syreeta, Shirley and Co., great tunes.

From the worst period in pop/chart music ever IMHO.

My comments on the Top 10 and what I like of the remainder:

1. Pilot - January - A cracking tune, but I preferred Magic.

2. Carpenters - Please Mr Postman - The Carpenters released many great records. But this sure ain't one of them.

3. Mac & Katie Kissoon - Sugar Candy Kisses - No, no, no, no, no.

4. Glitter Band - Goodbye My Love - ... and shut the door behind you. Rubbish.

5. Helen Reddy - Angie Baby - The second of only 3 decent songs in the Top 10.

6. Kenny - The Bump - Vile bubblegum trash from sub Base City Rollers types.

7. Johnny Wakelin & The Kinshasa Band - Black Superman (Muhammed Ali) - Very corny, and not very good at all.

8. Donny & Marie Osmond - Morning Side Of The Mountain - This is just horrible.

9. Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel - Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me) - One of the greatest pop songs ever written and recorded.

10. Wigan's Chosen Few - Footsee - Just dreadful.

11. Queen - Now I'm Here

14. Syreeta - Your Kiss Is Sweet

15. Shirley & Company - Shame Shame Shame

19. Stevie Wonder - Boogie On Reggae Woman

27. Gloria Gaynor - Never Can Say Goodbye

33. Ralph McTell - Streets Of London

36. John Lennon - #9 Dream

37. Wizzard - Are You Ready To Rock

38. Slade - How Does It Feel? - Their greatest ever track. I still find it incredible that it ended their run of consecutive Top 10 hits only peaking at #15.

Carpenters, Helen Reddy, Syreeta, Shirley and Co., great tunes.

because they are!

oh and look at brian and tip's responses... seems we are in braod agreement.

this chart is the exact opposite of the one posted from 1968 .... which 36 / 40 were good.

David Essex - Stardust and Gloria Gaynor - Never Can Say Goodbye are the only ones I like in there
