May 26, 201015 yr Author Thanks to Rosie D. Will Young to headline summer concert for children's hospice Million-selling pop star Will Young will headline a major festival in aid of children's hospice, Francis House, this summer. Peter Lloyd news.PinkPaper.comWednesday, 26 May 201026 May 2010Post your comment Million-selling pop star Will Young will headline a major festival in aid of children's hospice, Francis House, this summer. Young, 31, will perform before 10,000 people at Tatton Park's Party! - a prestigious annual concert in Knutsford, Cheshire, on 1 August. After winning Pop Idol eight years ago, Young’s first single Evergreen became the fastest selling debut single in chart history. He has sold more than eight million records and has recently released an album of his best known tracks entitled The Hits which features singles Leave Right Now, Light My Fire and Changes. Funds raised during the evening will provide care and support to children with life-limiting conditions from all over the North West. Francis House's Chief Executive, David Ireland, told PinkPaper.com: “We have had a wonderful association with Tatton Park over the last couple of years and sincerely hope that this partnership will continue to help raise the much needed funds to provide the comforting care for the children and their families who need our support.“ Young's performance is part of a weekend event which also sees the world famous Halle Fireworks and Light Spectacular return to the venue's scenic lakeside setting on Saturday 31 July. Hosted by Myleene Klass, it will feature a firework display set to some of opera’s most dramatic music. A week after his performance at Tatton Park, on 7, Young will become the first non-classical music star set to perform a live, open-air concert at HM The Queen’s Sandringham Estate. Tickets for Tatton Park's Party are on sale now from: tattonparkconcerts.com. http://news.pinkpaper.com/NewsStory.aspx?id=3056 Edited May 26, 201015 yr by truly talented
June 24, 201015 yr Author Thanks to karaj on Devoted. Mr Versatile looks forward to Tatton Park gig - The Will Young Interview 12:00pm Thursday 24th June 2010 WILL Young, one of the most versatile talents in showbusiness, is to headline the Tatton Park Picnic Concert in August. And the singer, who first found fame after winning the TV reality show Pop Idol, is keeping the audience guessing when it comes to the material they’ll be treated to on the night. Will Will be performing any new songs? “I am not sure yet, definitely some new covers and it’s always fun to do the old songs that I love and hopefully people enjoy them,” he says. Obviously you can add modesty to Will’s list of qualities. His debut album, From Now On, peaked at number 1 in the UK charts and Let It Go, which was released two years ago, reached a very respectable number 2 position. I have to say I’ve always thought Will’s material, which includes the number 1 hit single Leave Right Now, would work better in the more intimate venues. But for him, the size of the venue isn’t an issue. “As long as you believe in what you’re singing I think it can translate. As long as I can remember my words,” he jokes. The good news for fans of Berkshire born 31 year old is that a new album is being recorded. However, the performer says fitting in recording around his other projects is proving to be something of a nightmare, but he urges his musical disciples to be patient with him. “I am in the studio at the moment. It has been a bit on hold with other projects but now I am getting back into the swing of the things,” he says. Having conquered the pop world, the politics graduate has demonstrated that he’s willing to accept various new challenges, including acting. He’s already appeared in the film Mrs Henderson Presents and, a little closer to home, he starred as Nicky in the Royal Exchange’s 2007 production of The Vortex by Noel Coward. Will we see him treading the boards or gracing our TV screens again, in the not too distant future? “I would love to do some more acting, it is about fitting the parts around the music and also finding parts that help me grow as an actor, as I’m quite inexperienced,” he says. Will has come a long way since he won Pop Idol - he’s dueted with “The Godfather of Soul,” James Brown, and he sang at the emotionally charged tribute concert to Princess Diana. His victory on Pop Idol came against the run of play, to pinch a popular sporting phrase, with Will beating the favourite, Gareth Gates, to first place. How did he adjust to his newly found fame? “I was too busy to worry about it at the time but it was strange at times. But I was happy knowing I was doing something I loved,” he says. * Will Young will appear at the Tatton Park Picnic Concert on August 1. Tickets are now on sale and can be booked by calling 0844 847 1554 or 0871 386 1119. You can also book online at www.tattonparkpicnicconcerts Throughout the evening there will be a series of fundraising events in aid of Francis House Children’s Hospice. http://www.messengernewspapers.co.uk...ung_Interview/
