Ga Ga kicks all their asses though.... She's the one shining light in a sea of total mediocrity as far as the mainstream/Brits goes.... I think it stands as testament to her cross-over appeal when she can pack out a dancefloor in an Alternative/Rock club....

Really? I find that pretty hard to believe.

My flatmate often goes to heavy metal/industrial/gothic club nights and she says the only mainstream act they play is Lady GaGa and everyone goes crazy :heehee:

I actualy thought her performance was TOO restrained considering what we've seen from her before. 'Telephone' was dull and I love that song. :(

Believe it mate... I've heard "Bad Romance" played about three times now in various clubs, and the dancefloors are packed... My mates who DJ get the odd complaints from some of the "gother than thou" types (who, curiously seem to have no problems whatsoever with Eurythmics, Aha or Human League mind you, not exactly "Goth" either is it....? ), but then my mates just point to the dancefloor and say "sorry, people want to hear it"... Good... Frankly it makes a fukkin' change from hearing "Sweet Dreams" or "Don't You Want Me?" for about the millionth time..... :P

Doesn't his bloody 'neediness' and constant craving for approval get on your nerves though?

not at all...

i rate 'bad romance' very highly, i reckon its a damn good near perfect pop song. i love the production and gaga executes it brilliantly.

i didnt want to like the latest 'big thing' out of america .... but i cannot deny gaga's undeniable talents.

good greif! goths listen to a-ha? eurythmics? even the respectable human league was never really 'goth'.. gimmie gaga over those tracks anyday .

Me neither mate.. I thought "yeah, yeah, another hype"... But, bugger me, I was wrong about this one, she's got talent and substance and a bit of individuality in how she presents herself with regards to image and style.... And is incredibly popular... Jesus, that's as rare as rocking-horse sh!t in this day and age of manufactured identikit, interchangeable Girl/Boy bands and "Reality TV" dreck.....

I will never, ever be able to understand the mentality of some of these "goffer than thou" types, indeed "Bad Romance" is far more desirable than having to listen to the weakest song The Human League ever wrote (not to mention Spandau Ballet's awful "True", I sh!t you NOT mate...) I mean, they wont even listen to stuff like Editors, Interpol or White Lies, even though this stuff is clearly the heirs apparent of the 'goth beloved' like Joy Division, The Cure, The Smiths, The Bunnymen, etc....

At my birthday party on Saturday I had an argument with a few of these types... "Oh, we dont like Lady Ga Ga cos she's an exhibitionist"... To which I replied "Oh, and Marilyn fukkin' Manson isn't I suppose..... Hate to break it to you, he's a nice JEWISH BOY NAMED BRIAN"......

In hindsight I should have added - "He's not the Antichrist, he's a VERY NAUGHTY BOY!!!"

singing isnt their job....

No it's not. And that doesn't stop them from passing judgement so it shouldn't stop her. Doesn't stop Dannii either.

Reading the Newspapers today you would have thought Cheryl Cole had won all the awards at the BRITs.

And as for Jan Moir's piece in the Daily Mail newspaper ((ha ha ha she's/the fascist paper has edited the online version to remove the destructive criticism of Lily & GaGa) praising Cheryl and attacking Lily Allen & Lady GaGa .. well the less said the better.

Still Cheryl's performance would have been pretty good if the music and her miming werent seemingly 3 seconds out of sync with each other. (Or maybe her nemesis Lily Allen had got into the studio where it was going out on TV after Jay-Z's & Alicia's brilliant collaboration and turn it back to normal after Cheryl had performed). But, I'm sorry if you are a popstar who makes a living critique-ing contestants on a singing talent show then you need to back it up on occasions like the BRITs to maintain some credibility.

All in all it reminded me of this:

May be she should do a West End Musical to show off her live singing abilities as proven by this X-Factor judge (taken from the West End musical Notre Dame de Paris). It's no Celine but it's not bad:

.. Or maybe in the next series of X-Factor they should further do away with the pretense of having a fair singing talent contest and have one week where all the acts have to mime, perform dance routines & lipsync in tune with the music. This way Britney Spears could actually be very useful as a guest mentor.

What was said in the Daily Male? Jan Moir is a C U Next Tuesday.

She basically praised Cheryl Cole as a fabulous role model and an inspiration to young females and then compared her to the fellow two BRIT performers Lily Allen "a leary privately educated lout who thinks its cool to swear and get drunk in public" & Lady Gaga "an attention seeking freak with debatable talent and who seems to wear a minimal amount of clothing on every occasion in the hope that it hides her lack of substance and musical ability".

God bless the Daily Mail who worship the likes of Simon Cowell & Cheryl Cole. Oh and Piers Morgan writes for the paper and does not get on at all with Boyzone manager Louis Walsh. Funny that.

Capital played back CC's 'live' performance from the Brit's tonight......How does that work?

You couldn't make it up.

tip has answerd this :)

How can she call someone a role model who thinks being skinny is the way forward, let's their husband get away with cheating and beats the crap out of toilet attendants?

Even if she was a great role model, that has little to do with her performance which wasn't great so why bring it up?

It really shows a lack of basic intelligence and how little taste Jan Moir has when she thinks that Lady Gaga has no musical ability when Gaga sang live and sang well and, on occasion, writes amazing pop songs.

And being privately education mean you have no talent or rights to express yourself artistically? Someone's background is irrelevant - it is the music that counts. I have a good mind to e-mail the Daily Mail.

Well each to their own but I think Dog Days Are Over, Rabbit Heart, I'm Not Calling You A Liar, Kiss With A Fist, Drumming Song, Between Two Lungs, Cosmic Love, Hurricane Drunk and Blinding are all essential.

I do like her version of You've Got The Love too but it's a fairly safe cover really.

Ok, I've worked out that I don't really like her voice. It's just hard on my ears. Cosmic Love and (possibly) Rabbit Heart are the only two songs that I think are great. I like the stings on Howl too. Everything else just doesn't cut it for me because of the vocals.

Hmmm, is she describing Lily Allen, or most of her fellow hacks on bloody Fleet Street, or indeed her own editor Paul Dacre who's pretty notorious himself for the way he acts......  I mean, come on, I read Private Eye, the "Street Of Shame" section exposes these bloody Tabloid journos/editors for what they actually are - cheats, liars, drunks, whoremongers, crooks, they act worse than CHAVS ffs... And certainly a LOT worse than Lily or Lady Ga Ga.....

But hey dont take my word for it....

Read the "Criticism" part

Erm.. Why exactly?

Can someone explain the JLS hate around here PLEASE? Especially as the majority of people who hate them they 'they're an embarassment' and blame 'their fans' are hypocrites especially people who think Cheryl deserved to win best single.

Quite a large junk of people who say all this are either Girls Aloud loons or Leoonas who are a lot WORSE than JLS fans and maybe should spend more time voting in things like these rather than going onto internet forums and going 'omg shes amazing' and constantly storking the iTunes chart and Radio playlists!

I actually don't mind JLS winning at all for I actually find them to be quite likeable and plus at least not the kids finally have some music they can like rather than the housewives who pick the winners of the X Factor.

Agreed.. I don't understand the hate for them

and surely everyone knew they would win at least 1 award so I don't understand the suprised comments now.. It was always going to be between them or Cheryl and imo neither of them deserved to win Best Single.. I'm a JLS fan but not really a fan of Beat Again.. but still happy for them.. Would have gone for Lily Allen - the fear or La Roux - in for the kill

Someone asked for their performance..

That's quite harsh what Jan said about Lady Gaga and Lilly Allen. To be fair Lady Gaga and Lilly Allen are unique artists in their own way. The material they produce is more adequate to themselves where as the song Cheryl sings - any pop tart can sing them. I'm sure she told her husband to get cheating so fight for this love will have more of a reference for her.

Jan is a very shallow and narrow minded lady.

Oooooooh, cynic....

I think Jan is a very stupid lady tbh... Especially if she cant take a look around her own office and see that there are almost certainly worse examples of loutish behaviour going on.. Mainly coming from her own editor Mr Dacre whose disciplining of staff members has been given the monicker "The Vagina Monologues" because he basically calls everyone a "c'unt" on a daily basis.....
