Posted February 18, 201015 yr Possibly at the worst stage its ever been? The whole 'rich kids autotune singing about everything else other than our realities' pop and the songs/songwriting is horrible, a two year old could do better. Sorry if that's harsh, maybe im just having a bummer, maybe its not just me.. what does everybody think?
February 18, 201015 yr There is a thread already about this for the UK http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=107452 I believe that charts is very relevant today. It proved itself in the UK by a push to get the Xmas #1 last christmas. An extra half a million sales(and £100K to charity) that would not of happened without the competition of a chart. The reality singers you refer to, those have a negative effect on real talented people being able to enter the music market.
February 18, 201015 yr rystrttn, you say you think it's the worse stage it's ever been. How many eras have you loved through?
February 21, 201015 yr it's always been crapp... so it's nothin' new actually..... you're so right.
February 21, 201015 yr Look at the US Billboard no. 1 hits from 2004 and then tell me it's at its worst state now. 2004 was an abysmal year for the US charts, closely followed by 2003. Some of the most pointless US RnB crap got to no. 1 in those years because of all the black rapper biased radio stations playing their songs until they wore out the cd. Those "airplay" no. 1 hits are actually quite embarrassing, imo, like such "gems" as bloody 'Laffy Taffy'. Downloads have been the saving grace in the US charts. There's only one song that hit no. 1 in the US last year I don't particularly rate (Jay Sean 'Down'). All the others are on verying levels of great/good/ok, but not crap.
