How did that awful winning song get over 3 times the votes of 2nd place? :/ that song has similarities to Didrik but it definitely has the Balkan influence too in places, it definitely feels more Eastern European in sound.

 

And dare I say it's better produced than My Heart Is Yours :o epic production!

 

I agree! Overall i like it even more than My Heart Is Yours! :o Balkan sound adds something special (being a Westlife/Il Divo/Josh Groban rip-off doesn't count) to it :wub:

 

edit+ To answer the previous post - i don't see what is SO appealing in it tbh too, i like it but it deserved low Top 10 at best... especially if you hear what song finished 2nd (another Hari Mata Hari's Lejla :wub: ) :wub:

Lejla was fantastic, one of my favourite Bosnia-Herzegovina entries

 

I enjoyed their 2005 ABBA/Charlotte Nilsson tribute to though, although schlager pop didn't really ring true as a Balkan sound :heehee:

 

and of course Pokusaj from 2008 - stunning song :wub: he was like the Bosnian Salem :o

Bosnia & Herzegovina 2007 was beyond fantastic! :heart: This Slovenian song also has Serbia & Montenegro 2005 notes in it which is amazing as well. (S&M'05 and B&H'07 are quite alike though on their own. . .)

 

Oh YES B&H'08 is perfection! I'd not say it's Salem because the latter isn't THAT quirky, but Caroline Af Ugglas would be Laka fo' sho' :kink:

I think the reason the winning song won is because Slovenians are fed up of Eurovision and don't care anymore, so vote through the token novelty act in national costume. Can't blame them really, so many of their entries deserved better placings.

 

The Manca Spik song sounds a lot like Senhora Do Mar to me, but then it is written by the same person.

Listening to some of EMA songs while waiting for Melodifestivalen... 'Dež' is absolutely incredible. Translated in english it would be even more fantastic!
