Yes I still want to go. Still haven't received my tickets yet though which is a little frustrating! The chap I've contacted seems like a really nice guy, so I guess I'll just have to be patient.

Sue are you definately not going to this? If not and you're sure you don't need them, perhaps I could beg your tickets if mine fail to arrive? If I get a ticket, barring a major incident, I will attend this and try and get some video and pics, though I can't gaurantee what quality they'll be as I'll be arriving late and I'm having to borrow a compact camera for videoing. As always I'll try my best though :)

Thanks, Paul It's a shame to not be able to see it but it's so nice when there's a video we can watch.

Going to give them another ring nearer the time Paul to see if they have had a rethink but I definately have one spare ticket anyway which you can have if yours doesn't arrive. Sue

Thanks Sue, that's great to know  Hopefully mine will arrive soon. The chap has been very friendly online and volunteered to post me some tickets, so I can't think he wouldn't send them. Forgot to check the post today too(we have an external box), so they might be there fingers crossed.

Paul, did you send them a stamped addressed envelope, I had to do that to receive mine through the post? Sue

I have offered twice and on both occasions was told it wasn't neccessary.

Tickets still not arrived :(

I'm happy to send a stamped addressed envelope, but it looks like I've been let down by the chap I contacted :( What's really frustrating is that he volunteered to post them without me even requesting. If he'd not wanted to send them he could have simply said so and I'd have made other enquiries.

Sue could you pm me with details of where you got your tickets please?

'I was 3mm from death' says Darius after breaking his neck in Spanish car crash

Published Date: 23 August 2010

By Anthony BARNES

Popstar To Opera Star winner Darius Campbell has revealed he was just three millimetres from death after a crash in which he broke his neck.

The singer - who first found fame on TV's Popstars then Pop Idol - declared: "I feel like the luckiest man alive."

Speaking about the accident for the first time, he tells the new edition of Hello! magazine he turned down an operation because he feared it may damage his voice.

Glasgow-born Campbell - formerly known as Darius Danesh - said his "trauma compression injury" was similar to that suffered by Superman actor Christopher Reeve, who was paralysed after a horse riding accident.

The 30-year-old stage star, who is still in a neck brace, was a passenger in a Porsche when it hit a wall at 70mph after skidding on oil during a break in Spain.

The impact caused one of his vertebrae to crack down the middle. He was told by a nurse: "Three millimetres this way, you no walk; three millimetres that way, you dead."

Campbell added: "It was like how you'd talk to a baby, but I knew what she was trying to say - I was the luckiest man alive."

He said the accident happened on a "lads' driving holiday" as they drove on a motorway in searing heat.

Millimetres from death: Darius Campbell narrowly escaped death after a car crash in Spain

Campbell - formerly known as Darius Danesh - said his 'trauma compression injury' was similar to that suffered by Superman actor Christopher Reeve who was paralysed after a horse riding accident.

The 30-year-old stage star, who is still in a neck brace, was a passenger in a Porsche when it hit a wall at 70mph after skidding on oil during a sunshine break in Spain.

The impact caused one of his vertebrae to crack down the middle. He was told by a nurse: 'Three millimetres this way, you no walk; three millimetres that way, you're dead.'

Campbell added: 'It was like how you'd talk to a baby, but I knew what she was trying to say - I was the luckiest man alive.'

He said the accident happened on a 'lads' driving holiday' as they drove on a motorway in searing heat.

He added: 'Because of the haze, we didn't see that there was a diesel spill on the road. Before we could work out what was going on, it was already too late.

'The car careered out control on a bend, and we smashed into a wall at 70mph. My first recollection is my friend, the driver, asking if I was okay.'

The full interview with Darius appears in this week's issue of Hello!

He continued: 'After getting out of the car, I remember a sharp pain in my neck. The adrenaline carried me for 30 seconds or so, and then I collapsed.'

Initially he was unable to feel any sensation below his elbows, but the feeling returned as the swelling subsided.

The bone needs time to heal, but he said: 'I'm so lucky that I've got no neurological damage.'

Campbell's smash happened last month, but he still needs daily physiotherapy.

In London, doctors advised surgery which would eliminate the risk of problems in future but the singer worried that it could damage his vocal cords and turned it down.

'It could have a major effect on my singing voice,' he said.

Campbell, who is back in Los Angeles where he now lives with girlfriend Natasha Henstridge, added: 'I'm so happy to be alive. I've definitely used up one of my nine lives.'

The full interview appears in Hello! which is on sale now.

Darius Campbell has revealed that he was just 3mm away from death in a recent car crash.

The singer, who broke his neck earlier this month when the Porsche in which he was travelling hit a wall at 70mph, compared his "trauma compression injury" to that of former Superman actor Christopher Reeve, who was paralysed from the neck down after a horse-riding accident in 1995.

Campbell told Hello: "I feel like the luckiest man alive.

"(The nurse said,) 'Three millimetres this way, you no walk; three millimetres that way, you dead.' It was like how you'd talk to a baby, but I knew what she was trying to say."

thanks for that, I may have to buy Hello - how does someone look sexy even donning a neckbrace..he looks lovely

I still shudder at the thought, we went to Bodmin Jail last week, and they had the execution pit, noose etc, still set up and they did a mock up execution - hanging, they said, was perfected to dislocate or break the third vertabrea in your neck, as this is the one that ensures instant death if broken or dislocated by a sudden jolt - it sent cold shivers through me hearing and seeing how it worked, they spoke about neck muscle strength etc in that the excecutioner had to make sure they got the length of rope just right by noting the wieght and neck muscle build in the condemned. - I kept thinking that Darius had been so close to death - possibley only the fact he has a strong neck preventing that vertabrea break being fatal!!

I think D has had more than his share of luck.....both good and bad.

Well, I'll be hoping for more of the good.

Our shops haven't got this weeks 'Hello' yet.
