Darius Can’t Wait To Relive Holiday Memories In Ayr

May 21 2010 by Stuart Wilson, Ayrshire Post

POPSTAR Darius Campbell can’t wait to relive his childhood at this year’s Burns an’ a’ That Festival.

The heartthrob singer, who will headline finale night, remembers happy family holidays in Ayr.

And he’ll return next Sunday, May 30, to round off another year of tributes to the Bard.

Darius told the Post: “I love Ayr and have many happy memories of the town from childhood.

“I used to visit relatives and even came down on school trips from Glasgow.

“It will be a real treat to return for the festival – there’s nothing like classic Scottish coastal air.

“I stay in a flat which overlooks the River Thames, but that’s a poor man’s substitute for what you get in places like Ayr.”

Darius, who shot to fame on reality TV show Pop Idol, has re-invented himself after winning ITV’s Popstar to Operastar.

And he was snapped up as the headline act by organisers of the Burns an’ a’ That Festival, who see his Scottish roots as ideal for the event.

He’ll be star attraction at the festival’s final night at Ayr Town Hall.

Darius, 30, added: “I’ll be performing some Burns stuff on the night, including Ae Fond Kiss.

“I’ve done that before at Burns night events and it’s gone down really well, so I can’t wait.

“I’m just excited to be doing something different and we’ll be able to make a real night of it.”

Thanks spam, why do these concerts have to be so far away. Sounds like it will be great. I sw him on London tonite. He was very good talking about Carmen and the presenters were very interested. One was the irish journalist that I remember on dancing on ice, he has scrubbed up well. It was great to hear that the impresario who presents the show at the O2 saws him on PSTOS and thought he could do it, apparently he is the biggest presenter of these shows in europe. He said after this weekend he will beconcentating on his album and they tried to pin him down on whether it would be opera or whatever. They showed bits of colourblind, rushes, etc etc videos which was nice to see after so long.

just read some tweets from Faryl..the young classical singer, she says she is at mecedes benz world with Blake and darius promoting their concert, she went to see Darius on sunday in carmen. I didnt realise she is only 14
I think they do in the classical area. Except for Darius who I keep feeling the media just want to destroy.

I'd have liked to watch but I didn't know it was happening. It's only 15min car ride from my house.

I know this isnt perhaps strictly D but anyway - Natasha Henstridge has reportedly signed up for a role on Drop Dead Diva.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the Eli Stone star will appear in the final two episodes of the show's upcoming second season.

She is expected to play a partner at law firm Harrison & Parker.

Meanwhile, Leelee Sobieski has also been linked to a guest role on the series. She would star as a lab technician who has a storyline with Deb's mother Bobbi (Sharon Lawrence).

Drop Dead Diva returns for its second season on June 6 on Lifetime.

Eli stone is being reshown next month on channel Fiver - freeview 30..
Darius' 'Colourblind' has just been played on Gibralter radio and 'Carmen' was mentioned too. It's a shame British radio don't play his records.
Yet they play other tunes that havent got to no.1. Why does he have to prove himself again and again yet others who are mediocre and dont have any versatility are fawned over, a certain female comes to mind, it cant just be the looks as he wins hands down in that department as well.

Big surprise down at Clydebank hospice

May 28, 2010 by scobserver

Darius Campbell

IF YOU go down to the woods, I mean St Margaret of Scotland Hospice today you are in for a big surprise.

Glasgow-born singer Darius Campbell is visiting St Margaret’s this afternoon ahead of a fund raising lunch for the hospice on Sunday.

The critically acclaimed West End actor and platinum-selling singer-songwriter, formerly know as Darius Danesh, is sure to put a smile on the faces of staff and patients at the Clydebank facility—and on the faces of those ladies who are lucky enough to be lunching with him at the RAS Radission Hotel in Glasgow this weekend.

In breaking news, Darius, who recently won the TV show Pop Star To Opera Star, will appear at the King’s Theatre Glasgow as Prince Charming in Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs this year’s pantomime.

The singer recently played the role of Escamillo in Bizet’s Carmen at London’s O2 Arena on May 23.
