I watched all of it and me thinks all those people mentioned above need glasses. The standard this year alround apart fro m Uk was better, however what stood out was the stage production of the other countries numbers compared to uk which was pathetic especially as it was a BBC production, it was more like an ITV production, amateurish dancers, costumes etc and on top a poor song with no go in it.

lol, I tuned in as I read some men tweeting that Darius was singing for Buler..somewhere, nothing like apart from the goatee..more like Noel from hearsay if anything.(I do wonder if men actually take in faces like women - the time OH has commented that someone looked like someone else..and they dont at all)

have to say as usual UKs entry was cringeworthy...we should have to qualify like everyone else..last place was well deserved.

Didn't watch this, but apparently we came last? Nothing like Darius, and doesn't sing anything like him either. Sue
Eurovision should be fun but I just can't be bothered. I was watching something - could be Britain's got Talent as it was something I saw passing through from one room to another and there was someone I thought looked very like Duncan from Blue. People who support him probably think he was nothing like him.

Blood donation: Family appeals ahead of world cup

The family of a toddler with leukaemia has urged people to give blood, after predictions of a 20% drop in donations because of the football world cup and summer holidays.

A total of 5,000 blood donations are needed in Scotland every week but the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service said numbers may fall by as much as a fifth when the world cup is on.

The number of people donating blood drops off during the summer, when good weather, major sports events and leisure activity mean donors can be too busy.

To highlight the issue around 100 people formed a "human blood drop" in Glasgow, with three-year Niamh Logan taking her place at the very tip of it.

Niamh had persistent colds and coughs from the age of 18 months and when her health deteriorated she was sent to Yorkhill Sick Children's Hospital in Glasgow. Doctors there diagnosed acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.

She started chemotherapy last Easter and has received several transfusions of blood and platelets, a component of blood which helps prevent bleeding, to help counter the effect of the therapy.

John Logan Snr, Niamh's grandfather, has a similar form of cancer, multiple myeloma. He also has regular blood transfusions and platelets because of his chemotherapy.

Niamh's father, John Logan, said: "Niamh has been so brave when facing gruelling treatment. We're here with her today to thank all the blood and platelet donors who have helped make her treatment possible."

While he said his daughter is still receiving treatment - she had her 17th "lumbar puncture" procedure in Yorkhill Hospital last week - he added: "Niamh's future now looks bright and as a family we are hopeful we are over the worst."

Mr Logan said his daughter's battle against her cancer had inspired him to give blood.

"Watching how important transfusions were to her recovery made me determined to help and I now give platelets at Glasgow Donor Centre each month," he said.

"Niamh celebrated her third birthday last week and, thanks to blood donors, our darling little girl was able to have the wonderful birthday she deserves."

Today's appeal, backed by singer Darius Campbell, formerly known as Darius Danesh, and River City's Lorna Anderson, launched Blood Donor Week.

Dr Moira Carter, national donor services manager for the transfusion service, said: "Today launches a full week of intense activity to highlight the importance of giving blood at least once a year.

"We ask that you join a life-saving team by giving blood.

"Remember each donation you give can score a vital hat-trick by helping save the life of three people."

He isn't eligible to run in the race - it's a women's event - but I'm sure he'll find something inspirational to say and sing and cheer them on.

Thanks for the post about the carers, I had not seen it and welcome back Baytree.

Welcome back, BT. I hope you had a good holiday.

I suggested on his facebook that he shouldn't let a little thing like not being a woman stop him running.
