We will.

Darius is at this one - only as a guest though.

IM A CELEBRITY GET ME TO THE FATE AWARDS!

This year’s Fate Awards in association with Diet Coke will see the largest turnout of homegrown talent and celebrities from across the UK arrive in Belfast to showcase the very best the Northern Ireland entertainment and hospitality industry has to offer.

Now in its fourth year, this year’s Fate Awards will celebrate the dedication shown by those working in the industry in one of the toughest years and the celebrities will be out in force to recognise their achievements.

The Party of the Decade will be hosted by the King of the Jungle himself, Christopher Biggins and he will be assisted on the biggest ever Fate Awards stage by former Miss Great Britain and Fate Awards Media Personality nominee Gemma Garrett while Northern Ireland voice of the ‘X Factor’, Peter Dickson will be heard announcing the winners throughout the evening.

Roger Taylor Duran Duran

Duran Duran legend drummer Roger Taylor will make his Irish DJing debut at the aftershow party and partying the night away with him will be Eamonn Holmes and his partner Ruth Langsford, who will be joined by her ‘Loose Women’ friends Denise Welsch and Carol McGiffin.

Recent winner of ‘Popstar to Operastar’ Darius Campbell and ‘Apprentice’ runner up Kate Walsh will be there with fellow contestant Philip Taylor and our very own Ben Clarke.

Gavin and Stacey star Margaret ‘Doris’ John, Pamela Ballantine, Nicola T, Paul Rankin, Rory McIlroy and Michael Deane will celebrate the Fate Awards winners with Michelle Heaton and celebrity make up artist Gary Cockerill and DIY expert Phil Turner.

Kim Woodburn and her jungle friend Sam Fox will be partying with Gail Porter who will make her second appearance at the awards. Gerard McCarthy will line up with Pete Snodden, Julian Simmons, Zoe Salmon and Gemma to find out who’s won this year’s Media Personality Award as voted for by Sunday Life readers.

Michael Mervyn-Jones, Publisher of Fate Magazine, said; “I really can’t wait until this year’s Fate Awards. The excitement is building for the sold out event which is really shaping up to be the Party of the Decade. With the Europa Hotel completely transformed, we’ll celebrate those who have worked so hard through one of the most difficult trading years of recent times to contribute to Northern Ireland’s thriving entertainment and hospitality industry.

“With the economy showing green shoots of recovery, the Fate Awards will bring together our largest turnout of celebrities and home grown talent to reward those who have made an outstanding contribution in each of the 17 award categories.”

Last year’s winners included Belfast hot spots Muriels, No 27 Talbot Street and Apartment, alongside regional winners Sallys in Omagh and The Plough in Hillsborough.

Award categories for the Fate Awards 2010 are: Best Classic Bar, Best Style Bar, Best Cocktail Bar, Best Gastro Pub, Best Front of House, Best Chef, Best Restaurant, Best Regional Bar, Best Regional Restaurant, Best Club, Best Regional Club, Best DJ, Best Gay Venue, Jim Aiken Live Venue, Colin Angus Best Media Personality, Best Hotel and Best Newcomer.

The Fate Awards in association with Diet Coke, star-studded Party of the Decade will be held on 26 March 2010 in Belfast’s Europa Hotel and is proudly supported by Peroni, BMI, Bacardi Brown-Forman, Tigi and UTV.

It'll give D's Northern Irish fans a chance to see him again and give him the opportunity to catch up with relatives if he has some spare time,
Dont think much of the rest of that lineup especially denise welch and carol mcgiffin in fact don t think much of all, sounds like another boozeup.

It's a celebration of the best in the food and drink sector of the economy, it's a safe bet drink will flow.

It's an opportunity for a lot of people in the food/drink/entertainment business in NI and the awards show's sponsors in NI to meet Darius in the flesh....... a chance for networking.

The more people who realise he's back in the UK the better,as far as I'm concerned.

I'm with you, BT. He'll enjoy being there. As said before, meeting friends and family will be great for him.

Unlike the majority of those mentioned, if Darius was asked to perform, he could do so with no fuss or special arrangements. Backing is optional. His voice is his instrument and he could make a split second decision and sing something appropriate for that particular audience.

Last week's Sunday Life had a spread about the FATE awards, this little snippet included with a photo of Natasha?....not Darius!

DARIUS IS ON THE HUNT

HE’S riding high after winning UTV’s Popstar To Opera Star but DARIUS CAMPBELL is nursing a broken heart and I hear he might be looking for a shoulder to cry on while he’s in Belfast. Darius split from stunning fiancee NATASHA HENSTRIDGE last month after four years but the Scottish hunk is apparently looking for a new romance already. My source tells me: “Darius was heartbroken because he thought he’d marry Natasha but he hates being on his own - he really wants to be settled down and married with children. It’s unusual for him to go out socialising a lot but he knows he will really have to put himself out there if he wants to find a new girlfriend. He knows he needs to move on.” Get in line ,ladies!

Maybe I DO need to wait outside the Europa then!!!!! :heehee:

Thanks for that report Sharon. Well all I can say is he is covering his feelings very well in all his interviews and performances. I do remember him saying a long while back about not getting married until he was 30.
He sang in Guys and Dolls about 'leaving it to fate and chemistry'. Sounds like a good idea to me. Sue

So 19th August 2010 onwards then...............that fate and chemistry better hurry...

Only kidding...........he needs to settle after his break with Natasha first and find his feet again.

Putting his all into his career would be good at this stage.

The rest will follow when the time is right

Best to leave it to chance, more often the more you look the less likely you are to find!! Follow the theory of serendipity - finding something amazing whilst looking for something totally different!!!

Wish I knew what time it starts but I can't find any info at all on their website other than the after-party starts at 11:30 and I'm not loitering after that time to wait for anyone coming out. :(

I didn't do it as I'm not that interested.

I will be watching how Gabriella and Girls Can't Bowl do now though. They had good voices. Gabriella looked like a pop singer, the group didn't. I got the feeling that more should be put into making them look like a group and improving their material. There's absolutely nothing wrong with their voices and abilities. I hope more is put into them in the future.

Love this Meg

So typical of me. I thought their harmonies were just so good. Without seeing them live, with just one guitarist, I'd have probably not taken notice. They need to change a number of things to come across as really professional but they certainly have the talent.
