Good but I slightly preferred Precious to be honest, amazing pop song :wub: I wonder how this would have done in the ESC? it was very modern for the time, maybe 3rd behind Charlotte and Selma?

shall we turn this thread into a best songs never sent to the Eurovision thread? I'll start;

not that it would have done much better than 12th or 13th I don't expect, which would have been tragic - maybe it's best that it wasn't sent :lol:

Good idea, just changed the name :magic:

I don't think this would have done too well in Eurovision either, but it would have been a worldwide pop hit...

Butterflies is very nice too, quite Radio 2, but in a good way :kink:

of course^ :P

now the obvious ones are out of the way - Se På Mig was very good but for me it was nothing in comparison to;

and as much as I love Fame's Give Me Your Love, I would have preferred this Sweden 2003 if they were after a male/female duet;

and another from Sweden - Westlife or Crazy Frog would have been more preferable to Las Vegas but the song that particularly deserved to win MF 2005 was Nanne was this pop stunner;

was probably their best ever chance to be honest :( the song was a well deserved #1 in Sweden at least...

I was a big fan of Daz, and quite a few of the UK 2006 selection songs but I voted for this on the night (and it was a top 5 hit in my chart at the time :wub:)

a bit like early Veronicas to be honest, who launched a year earlier in Australia - I wonder if that was their inspiration? :P this would have almost certainly done better than Daz in Athens, maybe low top ten? so anthemic, love the bridge and chorus :wub: great harmonies in the last chorus too.

and I'm sure somebody will mention Cyndi at some point but I voted for and still prefer Scooch *runs away* so I don't care about that. However I DID NOT vote for the diabolical Even If - and the song that should have represented the UK in 2008, where we most definitely wouldn't have finished last, was this - a #1 in my chart no less, David loved it even more if I recall :lol:

like a poppier Pipettes, this fit the 2008 soul pop sound recently and I really don't know why it didn't click with the audience - it only finished 4th out of 6 iirc :(

Not that it's the best 'ESC' song that never was but 'never was' is the key part :cry:

snälla, snälla snälla, snälla, jag ber dig snälla snälla snälla, stanna kvar hos mig :cry:
perfection :wub: I'd have preferred to see Caroline over Malena, I reckon it could have come top ten and restored some much needed credibility to Sweden, regardless of the result...

So many!

My top one has to be Saša Lendero - Mandoline (Slovenia 2006)

But then there is also

Brigita Šuler - Samara (Slovenia 2008) :

Katy Satyn - Magical Sensation (Belgium 2008) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwTp83BlOF0

Sarek - Genom Eld Och Vatten (Sweden 2003) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOIoh2aiVVQ

BWO - Lay Your Love On Me (Sweden 2008) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lk-Pr3slSUc

Elin Lanto - Money (Sweden 2007) :

Atomik Harmonik - Polkaholik (Slovenia 2006) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6YkvMl8_8I

Zuma - Always Always (Norway 2007) :

Hera Bjork - Someday (Denmark 2009) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFrU6dA40b0

Nina Soderquist - Tick Tock (Sweden 2009) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOu65EHxNiU

Nightwish - Sleepwalker (Finland 2000) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKJMKrX0Vlg

Passionworks feat. Tony Turunen - Surrender (Finland 2009) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQLxU2VkQac

Sani - Doctor Doctor (Finland 2009) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKjBwBqGVjk

And, sadly not on Youtube, but Regina Osk - Þér Við Hlið (Iceland 2006) was epic!

Plus, so bad it was good, Double Date - Email To Berlin (Netherlands 1999)

Edit: Got a bit carried away, so just put the links up instead of embedding them to save your internet :lol:

Finland missed a trick there in 2000

the song they ended up sending was dull as dishwater - they would have been so ahead of their time/cutting edge with Nightwish!

Doctor Doctor would've been a terrible entry tbh :(

I loved it :P

My list is basically made up of songs that went top 2 in my chart, with the exception of Sarek, Atomik Harmonik and Double Date :lol:

Don't wanna jinx things, but if it doesn't make it to Oslo, "Kom" will be the best ESC song that never was

Well look how that worked out :(

Raul - Sueño Su Boca - Spain 2000

Yes, I love that too, the Latin Dance Mix especially :wub:

Here's one that I forgot until just now, Magányos Csónak by Kátya Tompos from last year. Can't believe she didn't want to enter, it was much better than Dance With Me, this year it would be a potential winner...

Bumping this because I've just uploaded Now 31 onto my iTunes, which features both Love City Groove and Deuce. One was slightly crap and one was slightly amazing. The wrong one went to Eurovision :( At least this still went top ten in the UK I guess which is more than can be said for Cyndi, City Chix and all of the other UK Euro flops...as a fairly established act with a great pop song though, I'm really struggling to see why Love City Groove were picked over this :unsure:

Iirc, BWO 'Temple Of Love' was one of the Swedish contenders in 2006? I thought this was a great song.

Indeed, I still preferred Carola's Invincible though or rather Evighet as it was first called when it topped my personal chart before the English translation surfaced :D

The song that finished 3rd behind those two was very good also;

Not as good as his song that finished 2nd in Melodifestivalen the following year...I loved The Ark's song but Andreas and Mans Zelmerlow were both robbed...
