It's a shame Germany never seem to do very well anymore because they genuinely do seem to offer the widest variety of different songs and genres to the contest, but their risks barely ever work (because usually they're not all that good :lol:). Close between Michelle and Texas Lightning for the 11 - both fantastic songs that should have finished top 5...as much as I loved Listen To Your Heartbeat it was a bit generic and typical of Sweden really and Everybody/Never Let You Go/Die For You/Je N'Ai Que Mon Ame/To Live For Love would have been perfection :wub:

the whole 1996 process was a bit odd to be honest...in the preliminary round of voting Sweden won (as they should have done :wub:), with Ireland second and UK third...but why they ditched Germany considering some of the trash that made the final that year I don't know...too contemporary maybe? but that wouldn't explain how Gina G managed to finish third in that round...
