A very nice set to have and all for under £10.00 UPDATE - REVIEW & COMPLETE TRACK LISTING This double CD is the kind of release that RCA/BMG should probably have gotten out in time for the 50th anniversary of the earliest music represented here. But in its absence, Chrome Dreams has gone ahead and moved this set into the marketplace. The music is, of course, familiar from numerous reissues, and the outtakes and alternate takes have been assembled here as well, all augmented by snippets of interviews (the best of which is from Jackson, FL, in 1955), plus the familiar Louisiana Hayride appearances, all appended with Presley's earliest Sun recordings from 1953. Clocking in at over 140 minutes, this is all extremely potent material, as exciting in 2006 as it was in 1955. Unfortunately, it's impossible to avoid the rough condition of the transcription disc sources on "Heart of Stone," "Money Honey," and so on from the Hayride. Serious Elvis listeners will know it all by heart, but the presentation is still very good, and the collection is both thoroughly enjoyable and extremely handy, with excellent notes by Patrick Humphreys in the accompanying booklet.
