March 3, 201015 yr The Scotland v Czech Republic game is on Sky Sports 1 & Sky Sports HD1 - coverage starts @ 7:30 pm, kick-off 8pm Have just set the Sky box to record it - and hubby says he'll help me edit it for posting!! It's been that long since I did it I've forgotten how to, so may take a while!!! LOL  Thanks Sharon look forward to seeing it :)
March 3, 201015 yr Oops :( My son just found the match live online and called me through to hear FOS. Sounded good but he got the words wrong in the last chorus
March 3, 201015 yr Author Lorraine just tweeted that 'we have the best song..go darius!!' perhaps no one noticed..shhh. I dont know the words anyway
March 3, 201015 yr Not being Scottish I don't know the words (I only know the Rab C version..."Oh flower of Scotland, de, de, de-deee")....tho the timing did seem off then to me. Saw him shaking hands with all the players in the tunnel beforehand too. Oooh, and he's wearing the kilt!! :cheer: I have it recorded but hubby's just gone out, so not sure when I'll get it edited...sorry! Maybe someone will beat me to it!
March 3, 201015 yr Well done, Darius........swopping your good luck for the team's normal bad luck when you all shook hands in the tunnel. I think I read that's the first friendly win at Hampden since 1996!
March 4, 201015 yr Well done, Darius........swopping your good luck for the team's normal bad luck when you all shook hands in the tunnel. I think I read that's the first friendly win at Hampden since 1996! Let's hope it's a good omen all round. Scotland's football record in recent years hasn't been great, so hopefully Darius has brought them some better luck. Certainly a very good start for Craig Levein as Scotland's new manager.
March 4, 201015 yr The sun today - Forget to Czech all the lyrics Darius?By IRINA NELSON Published: Today Add a comment (3) OPERASTAR Darius Campbell fluffed the lines to the Tartan Army's anthem last night before Scotland's Hampden clash with the Czechs. Darius was desperate to sing Flower of Scotland at Craig Levein's debut as manager, which we won 1-0. But he raised eyebrows when he reached the second verse of the song. He sang: "And sent them homeward, Proud Edward's army, And sent them homeward, Tae think again." But what he SHOULD have belted out was: "And stood against him, Proud Edward's army, And sent him homeward, Tae think again." And one punter in the crowd later admitted: "It was a wee bit embarrassing. "Everyone knows the words to Flower of Scotland, especially the part about standing against Proud Edward's army. "Darius deserved the chance to sing the anthem at the game, but surely he should have been able to get the words right." When chosen to sing at the game, the 29-year-old said: "I'm so thrilled. The word honour just doesn't do it justice." In January we told how Darius - who won the ITV1 reality show Popstar To Operastar - changed his surname from Danesh to Campbell and sparked a family row.
March 4, 201015 yr |Nerves again. I think we've all done something like that when it's important that we don't
March 4, 201015 yr Of course it was nerves! Trust The Sun to have a go, they're so perfect aren't they. Sue
March 4, 201015 yr Author dont you dread anything Darius doesnt do perfectly..I dont know the words, get the jist..but in context sending them homeward sounds fine, I thought he had fluffed the whoel thing tbh, not just that little bit, but obviously they pick up on it, - perhaps they should keep those lyrics for football..seeing they won for a change!
March 4, 201015 yr He knows THOSE words and the Sun and everybody else in Scotland must know he does too. He must've sung them hundreds of times as a spectator at both Hampden and Murrayfield and he sang them representing Scotland at the Scotland - France rugby match in 2004. Sh*t happens and when it does, there's not a lot you can do in that situation. Somebody always messes up at football internationals in Hampden, usually the Scottish team or the manager, this time the gremlins hit Darius instead.
March 4, 201015 yr They should be saying come back and do the same again....we WON!!!!! ..but I bet his stomach is churning when he thinks about the error....I hope he can let it go
March 5, 201015 yr Did we manage to get a clip from anyone please? If so, I'd like to see it, thanks! :)
March 5, 201015 yr Maybe Darius should go and get a set of custom earpieces made, if he expects to have to sing in a similar situation again with a lot of distractions and crowd noise. Will Young, for one, always seems to wear them when he's singing live, even on TV.
March 6, 201015 yr As promised......sorry for the delay, this is the first chance we've had to do it! I'm afraid you have to listen to the Czech Republic's anthem too if you want the clip at the start of Darius greeting the Scottish team whilst wearing his kilt!! ;) On rewatching it, I've just realised how nervous he sounds at the start!!! No wonder he slipped up!
March 6, 201015 yr Author they all look a bit nervous..the new manager looks nervous too - thank god they won, Edited March 6, 201015 yr by prettyinpink
