He's so damn good, it seems almost unreal to see him nervous about just singing :o but I suppose even D is human, and it is a big pressure occasion. Nervous start, built up throughout with a raucous "come on Scotland" at the end.

Great to see it, thanks Sharon

He joked that he thought he'd got away with the mistake, he was so nervous, and no one seemed to notice - then he got up next morning and read the papers.
The Tartan Army still loves him. Well, the West Of Scotland branch anyway, who've invited him to their next black tie do in 2011.

Thanks just got to see it...

...............blummin' heck he only repeated one line....sounded good to me :D

Perhaps if he'd sung all 3 verses he'd have been fine :D

One half line it may be to non-Scots listening and many would not have known there was a mistake.

Unfortunately the bit Darius got confused on because of the echo from the crowd ( the second time he'd sung those lines that night), was the fans' most treasured bit - "and stood against him".

They're revered because they sum up the Scottish struggle to retain her culture, heritage and nation status under overwhelming oppression from the South - in the song........ from Edward 1, The Hammer of the Scots.......... but also the cruelty following the Jacobite rebellions, the Highland clearances and the bias towards the South East during almost 300 years of Union.

I guess it would make it too long in comparison to other anthems.

Ditto the National Anthem?

Or is it that the verse about crushing the rebellious Scots is not likely to be sung in Scotland anyway and might stir up ill feeling toward the Monarchy?

. Not in this land alone

But be God's mercies known

From shore to shore

Lord make the nations see

That men should brothers be

And form one family

The wide world over

5. From every latent foe

From the assassins blow

God save the Queen

O'er her thine arm extend

For Britain's sake defend

Our mother, prince, and friend

God save the Queen

6. Lord grant that Marshal Wade

May by thy mighty aid

Victory bring

May he sedition hush

And like a torrent rush

Rebellious Scots to crush

God save the King

Nice sentiments! - the whole world's to be at peace and be brothers but let's put the boot into the Scots!

the world at peace but under 'our' control.....I think they should all be re-written

What a mess we make of things thinking we know best....'we' meaning the whole human race

There is a lot of horror in the past and present, peace would be good but unfortunately some leader always knows best

The rivalry has always been more like siblings with different personalities.

We'll fight tooth and nail about trivialities and past hurts but if there's any insult from outside, we close ranks and strengthen each other.
