Have you noticed how many times pstos is mentioned in threads not connected with this site or the programme?

I still think it was a brave move of ITV to commission it.

I don't know how the bosses of ITV, according to the "source", expected it to bring in audiences like Soapstar to Superstar. They are two very different shows. With the latter they were drawing on the long established rivalry between soaps and popular music, tapping into the viewers who'd watch the reality talent programmes featuring SC. The singing was barely average for the most part and people tended to vote for personalities not performances.

I don't know what else they could have called it but Opera star put off one set of possible viewers and irritated others they may have hoped to attract.

There's a real hole in Friday night's TV now.

PSTOS was in my opinion far superior to soapstar to superstar, in fact I was surprised at the production of this for ITV, far above their usual standard. If they were to not recomission this I would hope the BBC would pick it up consldering its ratings were better than Masterchef and a few others. LLB said they were all hoping for its return without Meatloaf I hope.
The BBC are doing something with Gareth, who did all the choirs, and young singers training for opera. I've got a feeling it's for radio though.
KJ was just on alan titchmarsh, they talked about PSTOS, Alan mentioned them in the order Bernie, Darius and Marcella and the fact that she is doing her tour but should would be moving around this time as Alan said it wasnt enough to stand still and sing!!!Sorry but to me she looked like a barbie doll.

He mentioned them in alphabetical order.

Allan says it isn't enough to stand still and sing?

He didn't say that to Darius who sat on a stool and sang. It's better to fit your performance to the song - maybe that's what he meant.

I've finally ousted Brindisi from my head and now I can't stop involuntarily singing Time To Say Goodbye.

I'd forgotten he was due back in London on Saturday.

I wonder if Real Radio will record some of their night, and put it out later the way West Sound did with Burns.

Kym Marsh has decided to congratulate Darius on his PSTOS win in her column in New magazine this week (better late than never!!)

'WELL DONE DARIUS!

I was shocked that Darius Campbell won PSTOS. I thought he was really good, but I was convinced Bernie Nolan was going to win!....

...... I think out of all the contestants, that Darius will benefit the most from being on the show. He has even said he'd like to pursue opera as a career.

I read that the show isn't going to be recommissioned. It's a real shame. I thought it was fantastic Friday-night entertainment.'

P.S. I thought a final decision had yet to be made on whether the show would be recomissioned!?

Not quite sure how to read that

By her face on the programme and other things we've seen, probably very negativly. As a contestant, I can understand that. Katharine, I feel, is totally wrong.

Darius was really impressive on Titchmarsh just a couple of days after the show. He came out and sang something new and very touching with light and shade and good breathing technique just days after winning, and with just a harp as accompaniment. The harp really showed up Marcella's (very few) weaknesses in Ave Maria.

It's a safe bet that Bernie would have reprised something from the show to a backing track.

There is absolutely nothing to stop any of them going classical if they want nor to stop Katherine being the patron of Bernie or Kym or anyone else and doing everything she can to give them exposure.

Much as I am a fan of Darius or I wouldn't be on here - I do agree with Kym that Darius will benefit the most from the programme as he is back in the limelight now.
oh yes, I agree too, I have always felt Darius had the most to gain from winning, firstly they wouldnt be able to go with the reject again..and all the other rubbish you know the media would have used, and then it showed he is popular, and that he can sing well!!!

Darius could do all that, apart from singing in foreign languages (if I discount I would Die For You and believe me I usually do!), before he went on the show.

The difference is more people have seen him do it live week after week.
