It was an incredibly cheesy affair - and seemed like an hour and a half to boost Pete Waterman's ego, I mean none of those songs are played on the radio anymore, and for good reason  I haven't heard Last Thing On My Mind and the Steps cover of Better The Devil You Know since they were in the charts!

Is it Astronaut that you ordered of Salem or there's a completely new album? :o

New album, called Ignore This - came out last week! I would mine it for BJSC entries but I sent him last month anyway...although under a different alias, maybe there's a loophole :kink:

Reading reports of the dress rehearsal from last night, Eric, Salem and Anna got by far the biggest cheers apparently. Peter's song has had a choir added to it and now sounds a lot better supposedly, and Timoteij didn't get that much a reaction at all.

As much as I love both Keep On Walking and Kom the same amount, just because I've been a fan of his for a lot longer and love his music, I'm inclined to support Salem this evening...he seems to have a more realistic chance of taking on Anna than Timoteij do anyway...

Having a great time in Stockholm! Just about to head out to see Linda Pritchard doing a PA, so I don't really have alot of time. Just had to post this picture :w00t:

There are more where that came from :D

I'll give some predictions later on after seeing this afternoon's dress rehearsal. I'll try and get some good pics if I can :)

:w00t: Can't wait.

I am considering cancelling my snowfight with Uni mates invitation I have for 2pm for this.

What's better - having a life (and possibly get a little late for MF) or MF? :(

you are planning a snowfight?

Yes, we are. To say goodbye to winter. The snow started melting so it might be the last chance. :o

I'm sure Peter has plenty of snow!

I'm loving watching Eastenders at the moment with the ridiculously heavy snow in every scene because it was filmed 6 weeks ago when we had the heaviest snow in years in the UK!

I'm holding out hope that the juries will back Salem or Timoteij and destroy Bergendahl's vote, which will hopefully be diluted by overexposure...much like my hopes for a good UK ESC entry though, they're growing dimmer and dimmer with each passing hour :( Come on Salem!

The juries barely cared for Malena last year but the public vote took her through to victory from 8th place after the jury vote. Anna seems even more popular than Malena - all she needs is basically 7th or above after the jury vote, and then to convincingly top the televote (which is highly probably) and she's got it. I reckon Salem might well come 2nd in both votes, and 2nd overall...

Surely 2nd in both votes would have an overall victory? What's the jury/public vote ratio?

The jury vote doesn't count for anywhere near 50% I don't think...it's certainly far more weighted to the public vote, particularly with the top 3 songs...

Basically, anything that doesn't come either 1st or 2nd in the televote has no chance of winning...Salem would need to come top with juries convincingly, and then come a very close 2nd to Anna in the televotes to win.

I don't think the charts are necessarily a complete reflection of what will win - let's not forget that the majority of Sweden watches MF, but the majority don't buy music, so I reckon the public vote will be closer than we think. Bergendahl is the sort of thing that Sweden should've sent in 2007, but amidst the ballad-heavy entries this year it would be a disastrous choice...Salem is just distinctive enough to get away with it, but Sweden could confirm overall victory right now if the juries and the chart-silent majority plump for Kom!
I might watch the voting tonight. I think the international juries will go for 'Kom' and 'Keep On Walking'...
Oh yes, the international juries make up 25% of the vote! Kom and KOW are still in this...

the 'mature non music buying audience' are what lifted Malena and Caroline so high over E.M.D. and Mans last year, I'm certain of it, but I honestly can't see them going for a teenage girlband over Salem/Anna's much more classy songs. Malena got 322,000 votes in the final last year and the #1 single in Sweden maybe sell 8-10k weekly, so there's a vast difference there, so I agree it's potentially still wide open.

It's pretty mature for a teenage girlband! :P For something with a pretty universal appeal (read: the female Fairytale) I reckon it has a big chance...

It's got no hype around it anymore - it's gone from being solid favourite to 4th/5th place outsider...

I'll eat my words of course if it cruises to victory, but Fairytale was incredibly original and it was always going to win MGP over the lovely but completely generic Butterflies. Kom is indeed the female Fairytale, hence not original. Salem is the most original act in the final!

Hey all! Just back from the dress rehearsal! Grant got some really great photos!

Here are my thoughts...

Darin's vocals were excellent, and the stage performance has an extra element added. It still doesn't scream winner to me, but Grant really likes it and it went down well in the hall. Pernilla is much the same, got no response in the hall, and this afternoon as it was something of a "bare bones" rehearsal, she had no glitter (Eric had no water and there were no glowsticks for Andreas either). Andreas comes across quite well in the arena but I'm resigned to the fact that he'll probably come last. Timoteij have grown alot in my estimations over the weeks, but I wasn't that impressed with their performance. The vocals were better than the heats, but in the line-up it really doesn't stand out. People can clutch at straws all they like, and this may do well at Eurovision, but it's not going to win tonight. Neither is Peter Joback, but the performance was amazing. I got shivers sitting so close to it, the lighting was perfect, as were his vocals, and the backing singers add alot to it. If it were closing the show it would be a real contender.

Ola has great stage presence, and the performance is better than in the heats, with him coming out to the audience during the song. Still, after Hollow it does seem very ordinary, and will probably be bottom three. Although it got quite a good response thanks to the pre-teen nature of a large portion of the audience. Jessica Andersson has got a new dress. Vocally this just gets better and better, and it will do very well for a second chance song. Salem was very solid as ever, and his performance had much more of a "live gig" feel than the rest of them, with him singing to the audience in the arena alot more. However, halfway through the song he stands up, and somebody else takes over at the piano. It's hard to explain but it is very funny, and it takes the p*** out of the whole "fake" instrument playing. That said, I couldn't help feeling it cheapened the song a bit. We didn't get a photo because we were staring in amazement! Anna put in a lovely performance, and as much as I still can't really see the fuss about it, it did look like a winner today, and I really can't see it being challenged. Eric's performance was polished and much the same as the semi. Although he did look a bit of a twat without the water!

The interval act is very good, and Eurovision fans will love it. The opening act is also quite exciting. I'll do a post some other time (probably when I get home) about Stockholm in general, as it's been great so far but for now here are some of our pics!

Finally, I don't know how much is known of the opening and interval acts so I won't say too much for those who don't want it ruined. We do have photographs of them, and for now, here is a glimpse of the show opening....what could the song be!
