March 13, 201015 yr The indie vote does exist, but it's existed since day one, or at least day XIV. It's just that more indie is being sent and more countries are finding they enjoy it, I must admit I'm partly to blame :(
March 13, 201015 yr Why is it anything to be sorry for? There is no country that votes for indie and indie only...
March 13, 201015 yr On the topic of MF though, Salem al Fakir's album is a lot more left-field than I expected! :o Loads of electro-ish instrumental tracks.
March 13, 201015 yr Should check that out :o Any standouts? Why is it anything to be sorry for? There is no country that votes for indie and indie only... Mdice? :kink:
March 13, 201015 yr Should check that out :o Any standouts? I can't really say (I take about three listens to form a proper opinion on an album, but it's all quite enjoyable thus far). Keep On Walking is an obvious highlight though, but quite unlike most of the rest of the album.
March 13, 201015 yr Everytime I listen to "This Is My Life", it almost brings a tear to my eye. At the moment, I can't tell whether it's because it's quite a powerful song, or because I'm thinking of what could've been going to Oslo
March 14, 201015 yr Finland is gonna storm y'all tbf. :smoke: So Denmark (hopefully not though), Norway, Sweden and Finland ftw. Why is it anything to be sorry for? There is no country that votes for indie and indie only... Although there're countries that vote for pop and pop only.
March 14, 201015 yr Kom is banned? OMG :o I really haven't known what to ban so I haven't bothered (don't quote this on the BJSC board, but I don't really like the banlist :kink:) I love the banlist (well I came up with it so it's natural ). I can't imagine anything worse than the great originality of the last contest having been thwarted by Once, On A Mission and Rocket. Like Thisispop said, it's like removing the top 4 football teams from the premiership, everyone else suddenly feels like they've got a chance again, rather than being resigned to the fact that something verging on cheap/uninspired that's just leaked and that most people have already heard will storm to victory. I'm well sending Keep On Walking. Maybe not. Actually, I can't decide. I'm not sure who you're hoping to appeal to. I showed it to Ben and Mikey, both 'indie voters' and they hated it. I can't see it doing overly well with the pop voters either sadly due to it not being generic female electro or accessible indie :( The indie vote does exist, but it's existed since day one, or at least day XIV. It's just that more indie is being sent and more countries are finding they enjoy it, I must admit I'm partly to blame :( I've never not enjoyed indie, I vote for maybe 2 or 3 indie songs a month - the difference is, the indie songs that are being sent and doing well have obvious pop tendencies to them to. Halcyon for example, with a female vocalist would sound like a regular electro pop song. I've never found myself enjoying the really 'out there' indie. That 10 minute live thing from last month I just didn't understand it at all. I'm sure it's fantastic if you 'get' it, but I just didnt :( I wouldn't wish them out of the contest as everyone likes different things, and it certainly makes it more diverse and interesting than a complete pop final, with more scope to make discoveries you wouldn't have heard otherwise (like The First Day Of Spring in my case, which I adored but wouldn't have heard without BJSC as it's not my typical sort of thing). But don't expect me to vote for them (usually). On the topic of MF though, Salem al Fakir's album is a lot more left-field than I expected! :o Loads of electro-ish instrumental tracks. I agree, it's incredibly odd, but I still think it's fantastic and well worth a listen. Quirkier even than his last album which is surprising as you'd think this is supposed to be his commercial breakthrough. 4' O Clock, Virgin Mary and Red Rock are my favourites but none would do anything in BJSC...Backseat was a hell of a lot more accessible than all three of those put together so I doubt anything from the album would do overly well there sadly. :( Keep On Walking doesn't tend to fit in with the album that well, Backseat (well, had he removed the inclusion of Spank Rock and Lady Tigra) would have been perfect for the album.
March 14, 201015 yr here were the final MF results; 1 Anna Bergendahl 214 2 Salem Al Fakir 183 3 Eric Saade 155 4 Darin 117 5 Timoteij 95 6 Andreas Johnson 50 7 Ola 47 8 Jessica Andersson 37 9 Peter Jöback 32 10 Pernilla Wahlgren 12 Absolute embarrassment for Peter there...how Andreas managed to do so well I'm not entirely sure! Those international juries were big fans shockingly! unlike the Swedish juries/public. The top 5 completely as most expected of course...Pleased Salem came 2nd at least, continuing the tradition of fantastic 2nd placed songs in MF!
March 14, 201015 yr Once again the 1st placed song is from Semi 4, the 2ndplaced song is from Semi 1, and the 1st performance of the night finishes 4th.
March 14, 201015 yr there are a lot of similarities to last year actually; 1st - Eurovision friendly song by a female, won semi 4 - Malena/Anna 2nd - Oddball quirky song, never been seen at ESC before, would be a huge risk to send - from semi 1 - Caroline/Salem 3rd - Radio pop song, does well in the televote thanks to big young fanbase - EMD/Eric 4th - Huge Swedish star with an early favourite to win, which ends up slightly lower down ultimately - Mans/Darin 5th - International fan favourite pop song which everyone would love to win, but realistically it had no chance - Alcazar/Timoteij :o
March 14, 201015 yr this was fantastic; cbiWnbSnsGI FULL respect for devoting a large portion of that to Hold On Be Strong!
March 14, 201015 yr Yes, I really loved the interval act. Here isn't really the place to discuss BJSC but suffice to say that I don't feel like I've got a chance anymore :snif:

The juries seemed to be voting in their droves for Unstoppable... Poor Pernilla :( Whatever happened to the schlager vote?
March 14, 201015 yr So sad that Pernilla came last, I find her song very catchy. Should at least have been 6th :(
March 14, 201015 yr Shocked Ola finished so low! The juries seemed to be voting in their droves for Unstoppable... Poor Pernilla :( Whatever happened to the schlager vote? The public didn't like it at all :( I much prefer Love In Stereo, I wish that had made the final for him back in 2008! It was one of my 'dissertation anthems' (I won't elaborate )
