March 24, 201015 yr I can see Jark's point, I can imagine Broken Heels was expected to have gone top 5 minimum and it ended up at #8? I think they shoulda gone with The Silence to sell the album and show Alexandra's versatile nature.
March 24, 201015 yr Hmm I think they should've gone with 'The Silence' instead of 'Broken Heels', not 'All Night Long'. :P

Does it really matter if it was top 5 or 3 places away from it when it has sold really really well and had an impressive chart run?
March 24, 201015 yr I think they should have tried to ensure Bad Boys had a late July release, followed by The Silence released October in time for the X-factor, then Broken Heels and then All Night Long.
March 24, 201015 yr I see what you mean Aly but it just seems to me that a lot of people on various forums don't rate Alexandra or this era much after the release of such a throwaway single, and whilst it may have been a success it didn't sell the album as much as you might've hoped for given that it was the run up to Christmas. The Silence would've done.
March 25, 201015 yr I think that applies to every act that on various forums there will be people who dont rate them, such is life.As long as her sales in the UK and Europe keep up with her main competition which is the likes of Cheryl, Pixie, Leona,JLS, the Sugababes in terms of UK pop, I am not sure what more she can do.
March 25, 201015 yr But I'm guessing the reason they changed the single at such short notice is only because this is a fan favourite. A while ago (maybe just after when she was supposed to have shot "The Silence") she was asking her fans on Twitter what they'd like the next single to be. I'm guessing this was a popular option and "The Silence"...wasn't If that were true, it seems a bit silly, as the fans had heard from Alexandra that 'The Silence' was going to be the next single, so would have replied with what they would want the following single to be, so obviously wouldn't have said 'The Silence'. And I think it's strange that Alex would ask the fans for their opinion after she'd supposedly already shot the video. Anyway, what's done is done, but I'm still confused about this and I hope one day we find out what prompted the sudden change. March 25, 201015 yr I think it was obvious that when I Got You did not set the charts alight or get solid radio support, there is no way Syco were going to go with a ballad. It makes sense the charts are now beng dominated by dance/uptempo tunes.

I Got You didn't do very well because it didn't get the video boost at the right time and didn't do the right promo for radio to feel confident about playing it. Ballads are doing just as well, look at Cheryl released 3 Words and Parachute and both did/are doing well. Pixie Lott is doing well with Gravity and did well with Cry Me Out, Alicia Keys has tremendously well with Empire. The problem with ballads are that the single campaign needs to be near perfect.
March 25, 201015 yr Sadly Cheryl could release two minutes of burps and it would sell.Gravity has been mid Top twenties and has not made the Top 10 neither did Cry Me Out.Alicia would obviously get a boost because of two versions of the same song being in the charts at the same time.I think nothing could have made I Got You a bigger hit than it was, most radio stations gave it lukewarm support, the song was a bit bland.
March 25, 201015 yr Wasn't 'I Got You' a airplay hit though? Didn't it reach Top 5 on Radio airplay?
March 25, 201015 yr Radio 1, Kiss and Choice barely supported I Got You and I think that is mostly what the teens are listening to.It has also struggled to hit even 100k in sales which I think would have had a great influence at Syco to.
March 25, 201015 yr Gravity has been mid Top twenties and has not made the Top 10 neither did Cry Me Out. You're focusing too much on the peak as with many people keep doing. Disregarding the fact 'Cry Me Out' sold tremendously well (way over 200k) and had a very lengthy chart run, and pushed album sales big time too. 'Gravity' is holding up well and will climb into the top 20 this week... but does any of that matter if people are buying the album anyway?
March 25, 201015 yr You're right I suppose any tracks that are not singles released before the album and sell over 200k is really good.Plus pushing up album sales are what counts at this point.Has anyone managed to hear any of the leaked tracks that they are discussing on other Alex forums it seems there are as many as 15.

March 28, 201015 yr Does anyone know when we will see the video ? & has a release date been confirmed Edited March 28, 201015 yr by SweetDreams
March 28, 201015 yr Release date 10th May and the video is being filmed this weekend so will probably not see it for another two weeks.
March 29, 201015 yr All Night Long is my favourite track from Overcome, well either that or The Silence (which hopefully becomes a single too)! I love the new intro and the little changes in the production for the single mix. Having Pitbull on it is completely uneccessary though!
