Posted March 14, 201015 yr We now have all the songs from the first semi final! We don't have an exact order yet, but we do know which half of the show each song will perform in. Why that draw took place in the first place is beyond me tbh, but heyyy never mind. Bosnia-Herzegovina: Vukasin Brajic - Munja I Grom Estonia: Malcolm Lincoln - Siren Finland: Kuunkuiskaajat - Tyolki Ellaa Latvia: Aisha - What For Moldova: Sunstroke Project; Olia Tira - Run Away Russia: Peter Nalitch Band - Lost and Forgotten Serbia: Milan Stankovic - Ovo Je Balkan Slovakia: Kristina - Horehronie Albania: Juliana Pasha - Nuk Mundem Pa Ty Belarus: 3+2 - Far Away Belgium: Tom Dice - Me and My Guitar FYR Macedonia: Gjoko Taneski - Jas JaImam Silata Greece: Giorgos Alkeos - Opa Iceland: Hera Bjork - Je Ne Sais Quoi Malta: Thea Garrett - My Dream Poland: Marcin Mrozinski - Legenda Portugal: Filipa Azevedo - Ha Dias Assim Predict away everyone... One thing's for sure, some serious dirge is going to qualify from here!
March 14, 201015 yr What I want: B-H Latvia Moldova Slovakia Belgium Iceland Greece Finland Albania I picked nine, even Greece, Albania & Finland aren't that great. At a push, Belarus or Malta would be my 10th choice. So glad the UK doesn't have to vote in this semi-final, it is certainly much weaker. Btw, the draw to decide which half they'll be in is so the country delegations can plan ahead, knowing what day they need to arrive in Oslo, ready for rehearsals.
March 14, 201015 yr Author Here's what I reckon then... Bosnia-Herzegovina: Vukasin Brajic - Munja I Grom - It's $h!t...but for some reason I think it'll qualify relatively easily. Probably get a lot of eastern votes. Estonia: Malcolm Lincoln - Siren - Hideous, it'll get some points from Finland and Latvia probably, but I can't see it getting any more from anywhere tbh... Finland: Kuunkuiskaajat - Tyolki Ellaa - A pretty naff song, but it's relatively memorable so will probably scrape through. Latvia: Aisha - What For - I think this could do quite well overall, as it'll certainly stand out. It stands a decent chance in this semi final too considering it'll more than likely be surrounded by utter dirge. Moldova: Sunstroke Project; Olia Tira - Run Away - Similarly to the Latvian song, I think this song will stick out and be remembered for its sheer bizarreness. It's insanely catchy, and although I don't think it could be a winner, I wouldn't rule out Moldova getting their third top ten placing with this one. Russia: Peter Nalitch Band - Lost and Forgotten - Had we had the same semi final rules as last year, this would easily qualify with high points guaranteed from Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Moldova, Belarus and probably Serbia too. However, with the 50/50 rule now in place, Russia may struggle. And I hope this misses out because it's utter bollocks, and might give Russia a kick up the backside and get them back to sending amazing songs in 2011! Serbia: Milan Stankovic - Ovo Je Balkan - Another silly song, and not half as good as their song last year, when they should've qualified imo! I can see this qualifying though for some reason... And probably quite easily. Slovakia: Kristina - Horehronie - This song could actually win the semi final... I think it'll be lucky to finish top ten on the night of the final, but in a semi final filled with such tosh, this should easily qualify. Albania: Juliana Pasha - Nuk Mundem Pa Ty - I'd love this song to qualify, as I genuinly think it's a decent song from Albania. I can't see too much of Europe connecting to it though, and think it might just miss out. Belarus: 3+2 - Far Away - Forgettable rubbish. Belgium: Tom Dice - Me and My Guitar - The juries should like this enough to send it through alone tbh. Not sure how it will go down with the televoters though... FYR Macedonia: Gjoko Taneski - Jas JaImam Silata - Possible contender to finish last on the night alongside Belarus and Estonia. Greece: Giorgos Alkeos - Opa - Easy qualification here for Greece, and could actually do very well on the night of the final. One of the weakest Greek songs in years mind...in fact I'd say their worse since that robot tripe in 2002. Iceland: Hera Bjork - Je Ne Sais Quoi - I think this may do a bit of a 'Hero' on the night of the final, but I think this will once again be a hit with the juries. Malta: Thea Garrett - My Dream - Might get the 'It's My Time' vote as it is essentially a follow on from the British entry of last year. Not half as good though, and will struggle to make much impact on May 29th should it qualify. Poland: Marcin Mrozinski - Legenda - Some people were saying this was a good song...it still sounds like complete ear rape to me, so I really don't see this qualifying. Portugal: Filipa Azevedo - Ha Dias Assim - I think this might just miss out for Portugal. A shame, as their last two Eurovision songs have been very good, but this is a bit of a let down. So...my early predictions of the top ten are... 01 Greece 02 Slovakia 03 Bosnia-Herzegovina 04 Latvia 05 Serbia 06 Malta 07 Moldova 08 Finland 09 Iceland 10 Belgium Just for the sake of re-iterating how poor I think this year's contest is, here's how I think the above ten songs would fare alongside the ten qualifiers from last year's first semi final... 01 Iceland 2009 02 Turkey 2009 03 Greece 2010 04 Bosnia-Herzegovina 2009 05 Sweden 2009 06 Armenia 2009 07 Malta 2009 08 Slovakia 2010 09 Bosnia-Herzegovina 2010 10 Israel 2009 11 Portugal 2009 12 Romania 2009 13 Latvia 2010 14 Serbia 2010 15 Malta 2010 16 Finland 2009 17 Moldova 2010 18 Finland 2010 19 Iceland 2010 20 Belgium 2010
March 15, 201015 yr Oh, I reckon you're wrong on Albania! The woman singing electro-ish pop formula seems to work quite well for them...qualification-wise at least. It'll finish mid-table on the night. I can easily see Serbia fighting it out with Slovakia and Greece to top the semi, I think a LOT of people are severely underrating how well it'll go down.
March 15, 201015 yr ah yes, ok here are the 10 qualifiers I see; Bosnia-Herzegovina: Vukasin Brajic - Munja I Grom Estonia: Malcolm Lincoln - Siren Finland: Kuunkuiskaajat - Tyolki Ellaa Latvia: Aisha - What For Moldova: Sunstroke Project; Olia Tira - Run Away Russia: Peter Nalitch Band - Lost and Forgotten Serbia: Milan Stankovic - Ovo Je Balkan Slovakia: Kristina - Horehronie Albania: Juliana Pasha - Nuk Mundem Pa Ty Belarus: 3+2 - Far Away Belgium: Tom Dice - Me and My Guitar FYR Macedonia: Gjoko Taneski - Jas JaImam Silata Greece: Giorgos Alkeos - Opa Iceland: Hera Bjork - Je Ne Sais Quoi Malta: Thea Garrett - My Dream Poland: Marcin Mrozinski - Legenda Portugal: Filipa Azevedo - Ha Dias Assim Russia, Portugal, Latvia and Estonia could probably take a few of these out too...Belgium had better qualify this year, it's like a sensation compared to most of this semi!
March 15, 201015 yr Bosnia-Herzegovina: Vukasin Brajic - Munja I Grom Estonia: Malcolm Lincoln - Siren Finland: Kuunkuiskaajat - Tyolki Ellaa Latvia: Aisha - What For Moldova: Sunstroke Project; Olia Tira - Run Away Russia: Peter Nalitch Band - Lost and Forgotten Serbia: Milan Stankovic - Ovo Je Balkan Slovakia: Kristina - Horehronie Albania: Juliana Pasha - Nuk Mundem Pa Ty Belarus: 3+2 - Far Away Belgium: Tom Dice - Me and My Guitar FYR Macedonia: Gjoko Taneski - Jas JaImam Silata Greece: Giorgos Alkeos - Opa Iceland: Hera Bjork - Je Ne Sais Quoi Malta: Thea Garrett - My Dream Poland: Marcin Mrozinski - Legenda Portugal: Filipa Azevedo - Ha Dias Assim This is pretty hard :( Not because these are all so good, but mostly cos they're all a bit crap  Bosnia always goes through, even though it's bland. Estonia is too weird for televoters, but might pick up jury votes. Moldova will have the opposite problem, it's a nice dance song but doesn't give the juries anything to get their teeth into. Russia shouldn't qualify but probably will :( Ditto Serbia. I'd love Slovakia to go through, they've made such a turn around from last year, but I'm not sure about it. Belarus is like the sort of crap Russia entered in the late 90s/early 2000s, no hope. Belgium is great, definitely the best song up to this point. Wouldn't rule out Macedonia but again it's bland. We could lose one of the next three, Iceland looks like the most risky, because ballads always work for Malta. The last two are pretty hopeless and uninteresting, Poland bordering on the awful...
March 15, 201015 yr Here is a recap: 5L77D0zaR8Q I think Malta & Belgium (but more Malta) are most in need of a good place in the running order, so it's good we already know they will both be in the 2nd half. And if they Europeans have any sense, Slovakia should win this semi-final -_- Shame the semi-finals aren't evenly matched. I think there are only about 8 or 9 here that deserve a place in the final, but the 2nd semi-final has about 11 or 12
March 16, 201015 yr Very hard to predict, due to the sheer mediocrity of most songs. The Bosnian song I've only listened to once, briefly, so it might climb my prediction later on, but on first listen, it did nothing for me whatsoever. My guess at this very early stage... 01. Slovakia 02. Serbia 03. Finland 04. Greece 05. Iceland 06. Latvia 07. Moldova 08. Russia 09. Albania 10. Belgium 11. Belarus 12. Poland 13. Malta 14. Estonia 15. Bosnia-Herzegovina 16. FYR Macedonia 17. Portugal
March 17, 201015 yr I think the 10 that will qualify are Slovakia Portugal Belarus Finland Greece Iceland Malta Moldova Serbia Russia Im not overly keen on any song from this semi final at all, Estonia,Poland and Russia are exceptionly bad though.
March 20, 201015 yr Bosnia-Herzegovina: Vukasin Brajic - Munja I Grom Estonia: Malcolm Lincoln - Siren Finland: Kuunkuiskaajat - Tyolki Ellaa Latvia: Aisha - What For Moldova: Sunstroke Project; Olia Tira - Run Away Russia: Peter Nalitch Band - Lost and Forgotten Serbia: Milan Stankovic - Ovo Je Balkan Slovakia: Kristina - Horehronie Albania: Juliana Pasha - Nuk Mundem Pa Ty Belarus: 3+2 - Far Away Belgium: Tom Dice - Me and My Guitar FYR Macedonia: Gjoko Taneski - Jas JaImam Silata Greece: Giorgos Alkeos - Opa Iceland: Hera Bjork - Je Ne Sais Quoi Malta: Thea Garrett - My Dream Poland: Marcin Mrozinski - Legenda Portugal: Filipa Azevedo - Ha Dias Assim
March 20, 201015 yr My revised prediction: 01. Serbia 02. Belarus 03. Slovakia 04. Greece 05. Albania 06. Russia 07. Latvia 08. Moldova 09. Iceland 10. Bosnia-Herzegovina 11. Finland 12. Belgium 13. Poland 14. Estonia 15. Macedonia 16. Malta 17. Portugal Which would be a great shame for Finland and Belgium :( . My averages between numbers 10, 11 and 12 were all very close though, so the draw for the running order will have an effect on my prediction. Can't wait for the draw to happen :D
March 22, 201015 yr Will in bold, want in italics... Bosnia-Herzegovina: Vukasin Brajic - Munja I Grom Estonia: Malcolm Lincoln - Siren Finland: Kuunkuiskaajat - Tyolki Ellaa Latvia: Aisha - What For Moldova: Sunstroke Project; Olia Tira - Run Away Russia: Peter Nalitch Band - Lost and Forgotten Serbia: Milan Stankovic - Ovo Je Balkan Slovakia: Kristina - Horehronie Albania: Juliana Pasha - Nuk Mundem Pa Ty Belarus: 3+2 - Butterflies Belgium: Tom Dice - Me and My Guitar FYR Macedonia: Gjoko Taneski - Jas JaImam Silata Greece: Giorgos Alkeos - Opa Iceland: Hera Bjork - Je Ne Sais Quoi Malta: Thea Garrett - My Dream Poland: Marcin Mrozinski - Legenda Portugal: Filipa Azevedo - Ha Dias Assim A pretty dire semi compared with SF2! I only love three of the songs in this one...
March 25, 201015 yr My final prediction for this semi with the draw results taken into account: 01. Serbia 02. Belarus 03. Greece 04. Iceland 05. Slovakia 06. Albania 07. Moldova 08. Russia ------ 09. Latvia 10. Belgium 11. Bosnia-Herzegovina 12. Finland ------ 13. FYR Macedonia 14. Malta 15. Poland 16. Estonia 17. Portugal The block of 4 between 9 and 12 could fall any way I think. Was very hard to order them. Above the line should all make it through, below the line shouldn't I would have thought.
March 25, 201015 yr Russia to still qualify despite going on second with an awful song with not that many neighbours?
March 25, 201015 yr Just heard Malta's final version. Still definitely lacking oomph. I know people are comparing it to It's My Time but Jade had a much more powerful and distinctive voice and the production was so much grander  If Malta do qualify they will literally be scraping in.
March 26, 201015 yr Russia to still qualify despite going on second with an awful song with not that many neighbours? It's an interesting song. My list is based on a number of factors. Russia ranked the following: Success over 4 years: 2nd Political voting: 1st (Estonia, Latvia, Belarus, Finland, Moldova & Poland could all favour them, some more than others) Song quality: 16th Draw: 15th Type of entry (genre, lanuage, type of artist): 9th My personal prediction: 7th It all averaged to an overall placing of 8th when ranked with all the other entries. I think it will qualify, only just though. It's not a song that the typical ESC fan would like, but my parents (who aren't ESC fanatics) liked it when I played it to them. Belarus will sink Malta I should think.
March 27, 201015 yr Are Albania singing in English? I've downloaded the English final version and I have to say, it's grown on me massively, even if it is utterly generic a la Montenegro last year, which resulted in an unforgivable DNQ :drama: Albania will do better though - my prediction for semi 1; 1. Greece: Giorgos Alkeos - Opa 2. Iceland: Hera Bjork - Je Ne Sais Quoi 3. Slovakia: Kristina - Horehronie 4. Belarus: 3+2 - Butterflies 5. Albania: Juliana Pasha - It's All About You 6. Serbia: Milan Stankovic - Ovo Je Balkan 7. Moldova: Sunstroke Project; Olia Tira - Run Away 8. Bosnia-Herzegovina: Vukasin Brajic - Munja I Grom 9. Belgium: Tom Dice - Me and My Guitar 10. Finland: Kuunkuiskaajat - Tyolki Ellaa --------------------------------------------------- 11. Malta: Thea Garrett - My Dream 12. Estonia: Malcolm Lincoln - Siren 13. Latvia: Aisha - What For 14. Russia: Peter Nalitch Band - Lost and Forgotten 15. Portugal: Filipa Azevedo - Ha Dias Assim 16. FYR Macedonia: Gjoko Taneski - Jas JaImam Silata 17. Poland: Marcin Mrozinski - Legenda No obvious winner in this semi in my opinion...Maybe I'm being massively over generous on Iceland, but I reckon Hera will do a Portugal 2008, finishing top 3 in the semi before slumping to mid-table in the final. I can't actually believe how awful this semi is compared to semi 2! Literally all of the favourites are in the other one
