We are thrilled to announce that Will is to play a one-off gig at acclaimed Chelsea jazz venue, the 606 Club, on Monday 12th April, and reservations will be taken from 11am today!

This will be a very rare chance to see Will in such an intimate setting at this famous members only club. The setlist will comprise reworkings of a mixture of jazz standards and 80s covers from Will and the band, many of which they have never performed publicly before. The band will perform two sets in the evening for diners.

Limited Reservations will be taken at 606's booking site from 11am today, but please note ALL submitted reservations made before this time will not be valid so make sure your request goes in after 11am. You will find out if you've been successful in your reservation if you receive a confirmation email within 48 hours of receipt of email from the club. Maximum guests are six per booking, subject to availability. Phone bookings will not be taken.

There will, of course, be limited dinner reservation spaces for fans to book. On top of your dinner bill, cost will be £25 per head for the entertainment. Reservations are secured by credit card and cancellation charges may apply – please check the site here for details. There's also a dinner menu details on the site too.

Thanks TT. I logged on Devoted just before 11 so I was in the right place at the right time for a change  Not holding my breath - members get priority and it's a tiny venue.

It looks very intimate. Just wish I lived closer to London as I can't really justify the cost, having booked two summer gigs, involving train fares & overnight stays. :( Still I went to Ronnie Scotts & maybe he'll return to do another gig when my finances aren't as stretched. :)

Sadly not able to go to this one.. :(

It will be a Wonderful night..

Good Luck to everyone who tries for Tickets.x

Look forward to the Reports. :)

If we're lucky to get a booking we'll have to go up on the train so will get a travel card - but that will cover the Tube fare too. We usually try to go up to London by National Express as it's tons cheaper but the last coach back from Victoria is at 12.30 and I'm not sure we'd make it back in time with the gig finishing at 11.45.

Yes I did look up National Express and I can get from Sunderland for £5 each way (funfares) but it means over a 7hr journey each way. :o Also the last coach from Victoria is at 23.30. :(

They want people to leave their cars and travel by public transport - but they don't make it very easy with their timetables if you're going to be travelling late at night. It's alright for his nibs - he only lives up the road from there

P.S.

Victoria is at 23.30.

Yes it is - my mistake .

from the lucky ones who manage to get a ticket, good luck munchkin.

No luck sadly - but I'm hoping all those who were 'remember' everything in great detail :P

We were just saying how many of us filled out the form just a minute or two after 11 but the e-mail says that we wrote at 11.56. I was wondering if it could be down to the server traffic. One of the girls says her confirmation email says they received it at 11.00am and she was lucky but someone else who also got her's off at 11.00 was unlucky.. It was done on a first come-first served basis so the timing would have made all the difference - especially as it's such a small venue.

Gail over on Devoted had a problem with her email and rang the club to sort it out - she said to Steve:

I suggested that they get Will to do a week there, they would sell out every night and he said that judging by the number of applications, he agreed with me!

I know that Will loves to do these intimate Jazz clubs like Ronnie Scotts and now this one etc, but it leaves so many

fans feeling frustrated when they don't get a ticket and want to see him in that setting. Maybe he should really think about doing a whole week like Gail suggested?

Sorry Munchkin you must be so disappointed... :(

I am hoping for some Good, Detailed Reports from those who were lucky enough to get tickets... :D

I haven't been lucky enough to see WILL in an Intimate setting YET!!!! I can but Dream...

Love Dot.x :)

when i went to Ronnie Scots John said if Will did something similar again he would go .... but i did not get online until 2pm so i had no chance

Aww never mind sunday, :friends: that's the thing with Will news, "anything can happen in the next half hour", anyone remember Stingray?

:friends: It's OK Dot I wasn't holding my breath - but it would have been great to see him, just once, in an intimate setting such as this.

Valr over on Devoted has just posted that she didn't get an email so she got in touch with them and they said she had put her email in wrongly but they had sent a confirmation to her - so another happy bunny :D

I think there are probably more who haven't declared - perhaps if they have won before, fearing reprisals. I noticed MrsB who hasn't been near Will's websites since the last special posted on the O/S. There are probably thousands of lurkers out there who all tried for tickets.

I'm hoping we have a fan there who'll be able to give us special feedback :P

From the 606 website

Mon 12th ***606 Club Special*** WILL YOUNG

This gig is now fully booked

Tonight the 606 Club is very pleased to present one of the icons of UK popular music, Will Young. This one off gig is a rare chance to see one of the UK’s biggest music stars in such an intimate setting. Over the course of two sets Will and his band will be reworking a mixture of jazz standards and 80’s covers, most of which they have never performed publicly before. As a British male artist, Will Young has few contemporary peers. With almost nine million record sales in total, his recent ‘The Hits’ collection was his fifth platinum album in eight years. He is responsible for a catalogue of classic pop songs, from ‘Evergreen’ and ‘Your Game’ to 'Changes' and ‘Leave Right Now’ (the latter having been selected as the weekly exit song for the 2010 series of American Idol) and has been nominated for ten Brit Awards, winning two. Since Pop Idol catapulted him to fame in 2002, Will has successfully mixed mainstream music success with cool collaborations and acting projects, witness his recent guest vocals for Groove Armada and a very funny appearance in Channel 4’s hit series Skins.

He will be playing a series of outdoor gigs this summer, check www.willyoung.co.uk for details.

I believe that there are 2 on O/S who are going to this Concert .Lucky Peeps... :) (Charlote/Dizz), So we should get some good reports...Fingers crossed.

Will Young

Pop chap does standards and covers 606 Club, Monday

Will Young taking career tips from Steve Brookstein makes as much sense as Louis XIV taking constitutional reform tips from a bucket with his head in it. But Will Young seems to be aping Brookstein's post -'X Factor' career plan, this week treating a selective crowd in a small venue to a set of re-worked jazz standards and '80s covers. However, Young probably has loftier ambitions for his intimate show than an obligation to his gas bill.

Young is one of the few mainstrean pop artists who can carry off such a set convincingly. On Westlife, for example, this kind of enforced maturity has the uncomfortable ir of a young offender buying his first suit for court. But level-headed maturity has been one of Young's USPs since his 'Pop Idol' days-so casually has he taken to fame it sometimes seems like he's been on the receiving end of a 'Freaky Friday'-style body-swap with George Michael.

This week's grown-up show sounds like the sort of concept which would make for a good contract-fulfilling covers album or even a classy ITV autumn special, although we can't be sure without having seen the setlist. he moght be reworking Sun RA's 'Trip to Saturn' and covering 'Atmosphere' by Russ Abbott, which would probably reduce the concept's monetising potential. Eddy Lawrence

Also in their listings under Monday 12th
