It's got to happen surely. There wouldn't be any point in Simon suggesting him for the exit song if they weren't going to use this as part of his US promotion would there?, but as yet, he's not even been name checked on the show, so many twitters asking what's the song and who's the singer.

Will Young, Idol's First Winner Ever, Releases Digital Album May 4th

Once upon a time, before American Idol took the US by storm, there was a show in the UK known as Pop Idol. It was the pre-cursor to the show we now know as American Idol, the world wide mega-franchise that began as the brain child of creator Simon Fuller. Will Young, a British singer/songwriter was the first official "Idol" to win the competition back in 2002, after which time he began his ascent to fame. Young has since released four studio albums and one compilation outside the US, selling over eight million records worldwide.

 

Now he's ready to take on America with his ultra-bright smile and a Brand New CD. On May 4th, Young's label 19 Recordings/Jive Records will release a digital-only album called "Leave Right Now," through all digital outlets. His current single of the same name can be heard every Thursday night during this season's American Idol as the exit anthem being played for eliminated contestants as they say goodbye. To know he's going to be performing different tracks is just great news..it really will show his diversity..he can go from LRN to Grace to ATL to SIO and so on..brilliant idea! what a showcase. :dance: :wub:

Looks like Wil is going to be spending a few weeks in the US promoting. I would love him to do a radio tour showcasing the 8 tracks. It certainly paid dividends with sales for the Hits.

Hopefully he'll have a busy schedule planned. The OS did say performances. :cheer: Think he could be on Ellen Degeneres chat show with her being a judge on American Idol. :dance: I'm sure Simon Fuller will get as much exposure for Will as possible. Explains that meet up we saw months ago & looks reassuring that Will will be joining Simon on his new label.
