Kid Cudi – Memories [40] haha, considering your views on Cheryl's (lack of) vocal ability, it's surprising to see how much success she has on your chart  I'm well over Parachute now but still loving Telephone, and have been for 4 months now - an impressive length of time to hold my fickle attention for!
March 28, 201015 yr Author I heard Soul Survivor at work the other day! Exciting :D my faves; haha, considering your views on Cheryl's (lack of) vocal ability, it's surprising to see how much success she has on your chart  I'm well over Parachute now but still loving Telephone, and have been for 4 months now - an impressive length of time to hold my fickle attention for! Haha, at least it's being played somewhere. :drama: It can't even chart in the top 40 on here. :( Oh I know, I can't stand the woman and she's pretty weak live (though her version of 'Fireflies' was quite endearing, if a bit cheesy) but her singles tend to make sense after they're picked. This is pretty much how Beyoncé's last era went for me. Played the album once, said it was all pretty rubbish apart from the first two singles. Then everything she released from it went top 15 in my chart. I even like some of the album tracks now. I'm pretty much the same with Cheryl. After the first play I only loved "Make Me Cry" and "Happy Hour", but I can now add the four singles to that. (if "Stand Up" really is next) I suppose I'm not over her yet because I didn't play it so much in the first place. Totally agree about "Telephone" as well, my favourite GaGa song, been loving it since the first time I played it. It's a shame it's come up against another one of my favourites from last year in my chart.

It's a shame it's come up against another one of my favourites from last year in my chart. It has all of the ingredients of a huge hit, well in 1979 at least :drama: I guess it's too retro to smash in 2010 :( it sounds like a lost classic though almost, maybe people think it's a cover? See! Cheryl's album isn't that bad :heehee: I can see why people think it's weak but most of the songs really do take a while to grow, 3 Words and Parachute being prime examples  Sadly for Telephone, despite its long run in my chart, it's never quite managed top 5 (despite 7 weeks between 6 and 10). Doesn't mean I love it any the less, it's just never been one of my top 5 songs of any given week period.

Oh definitely. :( If only Bev started her career 20 years earlier, we'd probably be remembering her in the same breath as Chaka Khan and Tina Turner. (at least in terms of vocal ability) I know, it's actually decent. :( I might not like the woman, but it's quite R&B/urban tinged (except she's white, so it's called Pop. I think it'd be a different story if this was by a black artist) so I was bound to love it in the end. Definitely agreed about those singles. I've figured that there'll be an album every year that I don't like at first, but grow to love eventually. Ooft, that's quite the feat! If my chart was more like yours, she'd have probably already had a few weeks at #1 from when I first charted it. (as an album track, which is unusual enough for me!)

She reminds me of some of the soul divas who were about in the early-mid 80's who people still rave about even though they only had a few hits, like Jocelyn Brown, Kim Mazelle etc... I was far too obsessed with Bad Romance at that point for Telephone to be anything more than a nice distraction  now Bad Romance is gone, I'm loving it a lot more for its own merits, but it's come back in Eurovision (and random Boyzone revival ) season, so it didn't stand much of a chance of going to #1 :drama:

Only Bev has never really managed to have a hit almost everyone knows. :( Ah yes, well it took me quite a while to get into "Bad Romance", but I did in the end. I'm still yet to hear anything from Eurovision this year (except our entry) and I can't say the Boyzone revival interests me a great deal. I suppose "Gave It All Away" isn't bad, but I'm not that excited by it.
March 28, 201015 yr Ahoy Aaron! 02 (02) Lady GaGa ft. I laughed at work today, I was on the music desk for about 2 hours this morning and a woman, probably about 65, asked if we had Beverley Knight's album '1000%'. I said, I think you mean 100%, but it dropped out of the charts ages ago :( poor Bev, one lost sale there just because she can't stay in the charts longer than 4 weeks :drama: I told her to go to HMV though so all hope is not lost :funky: Our ESC entry isn't exactly great, there are far better that would be more suited to your tastes - I won't recommend any, I know you always get round to hearing them eventually.

Haha, "1000%"! Hopefully she found it in HMV. If not, there's always the one hour QVC special at 7pm tonight where Bev is selling the album! It's not really, it might have been alright if Esma won, I didn't really like Josh. (or any of our hopefuls really) Yeah, I'll have a look for the album at some point. ^_^

Haha yeah, I'm not sure how big QVC is any more, hopefully she'll manage to pick up some decent sales for the album though. :drama: Yeah, he's an alright singer, I just didn't find him very likeable and the song sounded cheesiest by him.

I think it's fairly popular, but I've never heard of an album being sold on a shopping channel before, apart from those 'greatest 80's jukebox anthems' things, and I can't imagine they sell in huge quantities. I wonder how much she'll be selling it at? I guess 7pm is likely to attract her sort of 'dining and wining' audience though who will be home from work, but then again, I always imagine her to have quite a mature classy fanbase, would they really be watching QVC? Agreed. Although it was out of tune/not sung properly by the other two :drama:
