April 2, 201015 yr I got the magazine yesterday. The list is all over the place. As if the singer from Kasabian is an all time great.
April 5, 201015 yr Liam Gallagher!?  That was perplexing, then absolutely hilarious! What a terrible list! I echo what everyone else has said - no one even comes close to the greatness that was Freddie Mercury. Gosh this list pretty much equals blasphemy. Q's much worse than I thought it was  .
April 6, 201015 yr Who on earth is reading Q these days? I do, for one. And tbh what else would you expect from a magazine that doesn't try to hide the fact that it's in thrall of the Nineties? Its first issue was 1986, and to be brutally honest where could you find a better list? For example, I bought the other week a copy of Kerrang! that featured their top 21 21st century icons, also voted for by readers. The top 10 was as follows: 1. Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day) 2. Hayley Williams (Paramore) 3. Gerard Way (My Chemical Romance) 4. Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters etc.) 5. M. Shadows (Avenged Sevenfold) 6. Jared Leto (30 Seconds to Mars) 7. Matt Bellamy (Muse) 8. Corey Taylor (Slipknot) 9. Ian Watkins (Lostprophets) 10. Chester Bennington (Linkin Park) Which list do you prefer?
April 6, 201015 yr Both lists are as awful as eachother ^ this. there is a big lack in decent music magazines these days, Mojo and Record Collector are pretty good sometimes but it seems the music press is ruled by NME, Kerrang and Q which are all awful.

April 6, 201015 yr Author oh, but hold on, 21st centuary = y2k, so technically these ARNT RETRO!
April 6, 201015 yr I like Uncut and The Word but they are quite expensive compared to Q. I still buy Q each month but I really dont know why. I buy NME each week but again, dont know why. I still think NME brings me more new bands than any other publication.
April 6, 201015 yr Liam Gallagher is not that bad choice (not no. 1 material though) but overall the list is just hilarious.. I don't get Q Magazine, what are they trying? Does anyone know if they have lost readers or sth?
April 6, 201015 yr ... im not so sure that list is bad IF its 21st centuary icons people are voting for! thats pretty much what id expect from a bunch of youngsters. Kerrang readers are around my age, and there is no way in hell that I'd include the likes of Green Day, Paramore, My Chemical Romance, Linkin Park and Slipknot in my list. Not that they're bad bands (well.. ), but their leading front men are hardly 'iconic'.
April 6, 201015 yr Maybe those who voted in this poll are between the age of 16-24 and have therefore never heard of some of great frontmen that others have already mentioned. The mere fact Robbie Williams features proves that Q is just very expensive toilet paper...but it feels so soft on those buttocks. ^_^ Maybe Buzzjack should run its own Best Frontman Of All Time poll. I do agree that Freddie Murcury is without a shadow of a doubt the greatest frontman the world will ever see - there will never be anyone else like Freddie. Edited April 6, 201015 yr by Hitstastic

We could do a few in the retro forum (or lounge) every now and then,.. best album of all time.. best band.. etc. etc. get a few lists going.

If we were to run two Best Frontman polls; one in Retro and another in Lounge, I suspect we'd end up with two very contrasting sets of results.

April 6, 201015 yr It isn't just Q readers thought that vote ... so its a bit unfair to slag the mag off ... even though it does appear to be very MOR compared to when it began. Most official fan sites have links to the voting pages (of any poll ... from any mag) so I wouldn't be surprised if there was a direct link from Oasis site to the vote ... as with other artists. It can surely be the only reason that Robbie Williams is there ... I'm assuming that his site (the official one and the unofficial ones) will have directed their fans to it. Rabid fans will vote for anything. It would be the same with Take That ... if Mark Owen were up for an award as the tallest rock star ... he'd be top ten as fans are directed to vote for absolutely anything (well they could if the TT Offical Site forum wasn't closed down ... thanks to the philandering little munchkin himself! Note! I exclude myself from this rabble! Norma Edited April 6, 201015 yr by Norma_Snockers

Hmmm... bad examples you've put, certainly with Paramore, Hayley Williams pretty much IS the band to 80% of the general public and GD and MCR wouldn't be the same without Billie Joe and Gerard Way. Green Day less so because both the others are big personalities (Tré Cool would finish pretty high in anyone's 21st century drummers list). As for Linkin Park, I thought singling out one vocalist over the other was pointless since the thing that makes most of their stuff great is the combination of the two.

Seriouslyyyy? :| So of the last 10 years, you reckon 80% of the public would note the lead singer of Paramore as an iconic figure within the music industry? :/ Even above people like Madonna, Britney Spears, Lady GaGa, Eminem,? .. And Green Day? Let's be honest, they only reason so many people know them now is because 'American Idiot' was so big. And don't even get me started on My Chemical Romance. If we're talking about 'iconic bands of the 21st Century', I'd personally look to bands like Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys, The Killers, RHCP, White Stripes, etc. [especially if this is based on mainstream appeal and success].
April 7, 201015 yr Author Maybe Buzzjack should run its own Best Frontman Of All Time poll. feel free to undertake this (in here), after all if its 'of all time' then its clearly retro whilst the lounge would pander to 'todays generation', so the result wouldnt be 'of all time' but 'as seen by todays youth'.
