not much here for me

2. Moloko - The Time Is Now

5. Chicane & Bryan Adams - Don't Give Up

9. All Saints - Pure Shores

19. Artful Dodger & Romina Johnson - Movin' Too Fast

Very little for me as well:

24. Primal Scream - Kill All Hippies

29. Embrace - You're Not Alone

1. Melanie C & Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes - Never Be The Same Again - My two favourite members from the best UK & US girl groups of the 1990s united to make a brilliant record.

2. Moloko - The Time Is Now - Probably their best track.

3. Santana ft Rob Thomas - Smooth - A great track that flopped in 1999. But reissued after its success at the 2000 Grammy Awards.

4. Geri Halliwell - Bag It Up - How did this dire track reach #1?

5. Chicane & Bryan Adams - Don't Give Up - An OK track but hardly deserving of a #1 hit.

6. Blink 182 - All The Small Things - Awful. I hate Blink-182 records.

7. Dr Dre & Snoop Dogg - Still Dre - A really good record.

8. Madonna - American Pie - I hated the Don McLean original. But I really liked this version.

9. All Saints - Pure Shores - A great song from a dull movie with a dreadful video.

10. ATB - Killer - A pointless Ibiza dance record.

13. Lene Marlin - Sitting Down Here

24. Primal Scream - Kill All Hippies

25. Gabrielle - Rise

31. Kelis - Caught Out There

33. Doves - The Cedar Room

34. Christina Aguilera - What A Girl Wants

39. Semisonic - Singing In My Sleep

A very poor chart from a very poor year in music.

2. Moloko - The Time Is Now

5. Chicane & Bryan Adams - Don't Give Up

6. Blink 182 - All The Small Things

7. Dr Dre & Snoop Dogg - Still Dre

9. All Saints - Pure Shores

13. Lene Marlin - Sitting Down Here

19. Artful Dodger & Romina Johnson - Movin' Too Fast

23. Moby - Natural Blues

24. Primal Scream - Kill All Hippies

25. Gabrielle - Rise

30. Macy Gray - Still

31. Kelis - Caught Out There

33. Doves - The Cedar Room

Doves the best track there, not much above average really tbh.

The public must have been asleep this week - 2000 has a load of great songs but they're mostly absent in this chart. Only ones I like are:

6. Blink 182 - All The Small Things

7. Dr Dre & Snoop Dogg - Still Dre

10. ATB - Killer

23. Moby - Natural Blues

Following week wasn't much cop either :\

1. Melanie C & Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes - Never Be The Same Again - Brilliant track, still love it now

2. Moloko - The Time Is Now - Decent enough

3. Santana ft Rob Thomas - Smooth - ??

4. Geri Halliwell - Bag It Up - :puke2:

5. Chicane & Bryan Adams - Don't Give Up - ??

6. Blink 182 - All The Small Things - Quite like this

7. Dr Dre & Snoop Dogg - Still Dre - Rubbish

8. Madonna - American Pie - Reasonable

9. All Saints - Pure Shores - My favourite All Saints track by a mile

10. ATB - Killer - Alright..

11-16??????

17. Vengaboys - Shalala Lala - Awful cheese

18. Tom Jones & Stereophonics - Mama Told Me Not To Come - ??

19. Artful Dodger & Romina Johnson - Movin' Too Fast - ???

20. N Sync - Bye Bye Bye - Decent enough manufactured cheese

21. Five - Don't Wanna Let You Go - Bleh...

25. Gabrielle - Rise - Alright

27. Jamelia ft Beenie Man - Money - Average

28. Backstreet Boys - Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely - Embarrasingly i like this

31. Kelis - Caught Out There - Good for when your in a bad mood

34. Christina Aguilera - What A Girl Wants - Alright..

36. Eiffel 65 - Move Your Body - Not their best

40. Mariah Carey ft Joe & 98 Degrees - Thank God I Found You - Very poor track, cheese

1. Melanie C & Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes - Never Be The Same Again Whoever told Mel C could sing was insane, her live vocals were on par to the sounds of a strangled cat. Her occasional piece of critical acclaim went straight to her head, when really she is equally as unpleasent as a singer as Victoria! Shame about Left Eye, TLC were great. This is a very poor single though.

2. Moloko - The Time Is Now Great single from a great British act, a shame Roisin has never received the exposure she deserves as a soloist.

3. Santana ft Rob Thomas - Smooth Santana... EUGH!

4. Geri Halliwell - Bag It Up Still not as a vulger as Mel C

5. Chicane & Bryan Adams - Don't Give Up Rubbish

6. Blink 182 - All The Small Things Annoying

7. Dr Dre & Snoop Dogg - Still Dre Never liked this

8. Madonna - American Pie One of the worse things Madge has done

9. All Saints - Pure Shores Great track

10. ATB - Killer Totally pointless and uninspired cover version

And of the rest, I like...

12. N'N'G ft Kallaghan - Right Before My Eyes Great 2-Step version of the Patty Day classic

30. Macy Gray - Still Better than Try, or probably because it is sooooo bloody overplayed!

31. Kelis - Caught Out There Great track from a great album

37. Barbara Tucker - Stop Playing With My Mind Now this is RIGHT up my street, Ms Tucker has a massive cult following in house music circles. Absolutely love this bit of vocal house with knock-out vocals. Probably means absolutely nothing to anybody else here though...

And the worse...

13. Lene Marlin - Sitting Down Here

How can anyone got any form of pleasure or emotion from a truly pointless artist was beyond me

Fabby retro, easily my favorite year.

Favs:

1. Melanie C & Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes - Never Be The Same Again

2. Moloko - The Time Is Now

5. Chicane & Bryan Adams - Don't Give Up

9. All Saints - Pure Shores

10. ATB - Killer (better than the original)

11. Precious - Rewind

13. Lene Marlin - Sitting Down Here

14. Savage Garden - Crash & Burn

16. M2M - Don't Say You Love Me

19. Artful Dodger & Romina Johnson - Movin' Too Fast

20. N Sync - Bye Bye Bye

21. Five - Don't Wanna Let You Go

25. Gabrielle - Rise

27. Jamelia ft Beenie Man - Money

28. Backstreet Boys - Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely

30. Macy Gray - Still

31. Kelis - Caught Out There

32. Honeyz - Won't Take It Lying Down

34. Christina Aguilera - What A Girl Wants

36. Eiffel 65 - Move Your Body

In fact I like most of the songs, but don't register as favorites.

1. Melanie C & Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes - Never Be The Same Again Whoever told Mel C could sing was insane, her live vocals were on par to the sounds of a strangled cat. Her occasional piece of critical acclaim went straight to her head, when really she is equally as unpleasent as a singer as Victoria! .

i fully agree scotty.... i know richard rates her but i cannot fathom why. she is beyond doubt one of the worst female vocalists of all time, ok not as bad as heather small (m people) or dido (it would help if she finished the word she was singing instead of seemingly running out of breath), but mel c has clearly a very unattractive voice...its horrible! and most of her lyrics are appallingly childish.

9. All Saints - Pure Shores

Wonderful tune ! Still listen to it from time to time

Brilliant:

2. Moloko - The Time Is Now

3. Santana ft Rob Thomas - Smooth

6. Blink 182 - All The Small Things

7. Dr Dre & Snoop Dogg - Still Dre

9. All Saints - Pure Shores

10. ATB - Killer

14. Savage Garden - Crash & Burn

20. N Sync - Bye Bye Bye

23. Moby - Natural Blues

24. Primal Scream - Kill All Hippies

25. Gabrielle - Rise

28. Backstreet Boys - Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely

30. Macy Gray - Still

31. Kelis - Caught Out There

33. Doves - The Cedar Room

Actually an amazing chart tbh...Full of great pop songs

Songs I liked the most:

1. Melanie C & Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes - Never Be The Same Again

I thought 'NBTSA' was by far Mel C's best single. Despite other posters views in this thread, I'd much rather listen to Mel C anytime than one minute of Geri Haillwell.

2. Moloko - The Time Is Now

Following the anthemic 'Sing It Back', I was surprised this was Moloko when I first heard it. Another brilliant track

3. Santana ft Rob Thomas - Smooth

Who'd have thought Santana teaming up with all those young US artists would prove to be such a success story. Even in Europe follow up 'Maria Maria' was a massive hit. I liked 'Smooth' but it's far from a classic.

6. Blink 182 - All The Small Things

Their spoof US popstars inspired video was great. In fact I saw the video this morning on VH-1 Classic.

9. All Saints - Pure Shores

100% By far one of my fave tracks of 2000. Adored this song when it was first released and I still think it's excellent ten years on.

18. Tom Jones & Stereophonics - Mama Told Me Not To Come

Like Santana, there was something in the air making aging musical acts to collaborate with younger acts who appeal to a different audience. I thought this was a decent cover. However, the idea of Tom Jones singing a song called 'Sex Bomb' at his age seemed a bit...erm, perverted?

23. Moby - Natural Blues

This was a great chilled out track. I don't think Moby will ever enjoy the massive worldwide success he did with his album 'Play'.

31. Kelis - Caught Out There

"I hate you so much right now". First time I heard this was on Radio 1 during an art lesson at college. The expressions on some of my mates' faces at that very moment in time were priceless. It seemed like at first they were thinking "wtf is this?" but by the end of the song thinking "yeah, this is cool".

Other comments:

4. Geri Halliwell - Bag It Up

I mean, seriously? :puke:

In 2000, there were two ways of achieving a no. 1 single. Firstly, appear in Smash Hits or secondly, appear on the front page of a tabloid newspaper for several consecutive days. Geri did both. Media whore!!!

5. Chicane & Bryan Adams - Don't Give Up

'Saltwater' from the summer of 1999 was a fantastic hypnotic slice of Euphoric trance. This was dull - even by Bryan Adams standards - so how the hell did this get to no. 1? :manson:

8. Madonna - American Pie

I know it's her Madgesty, the Queen of Pop but still, just because This Morning had the world exclusive first play of the video shouldn't mean people rush out and buy this thing. Madonna's released much better songs that have sadly missed the no. 1 spot.

25. Gabrielle - Rise

I was plesantly surprised when this went to no. 1 in the UK. Especially after 'Sunshine' made #9 in November 1999. The boxing inspired video fitted in well with the lyrics to the song. Jamelia released the sequel 'Thank You' in 2004.

i hate both! :P emma was the best imho.

Not much!!

33. Doves - The Cedar Room

I 100% agree with that. How I'd rank Spice Girls as solo artists:

Emma

Mel C

** big gap **

Geri/Mel B/Victoria <--- didn't rate any of them as solo artists.

i only rate emma (and thats just 'ok')

cant abide mel c's voice and her lyrics can be bloody embarrassingly bad.

1. Melanie C & Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes - Never Be The Same Again

2. Moloko - The Time Is Now

two of the best singles of the year
