March 28, 201015 yr Author Gavin Ryan Chart Commentary (Thanks to Gavin Ryan) Train hold for a second week at the No.1 station with their track “Hey, Soul Sister” (DL: 1 hold, Phys 1 to 6), and also score themselves a Gold certification for the effort, plus gain the No.1 airplay song in the country for the first week. The former No.1 single for Jason DeRulo, “In My Head” (DL: 2 hold) holds at No.2 for another week, but jumping up to No.3 from nine, with the help of a new video and a national tour is Lady GaGa’s “Telephone” (DL: 8 to 3) feat Beyonce. The Lady was last this high in the charts in mid January when “Bad Romance” (DL: 18 to 20) was spending it’s seventh week inside the Top 3, having peaked at No.2 in December, the song this week is down a single place to No.18, whilst some of her older charting songs move back up the charts, more on that later. With “Telephone” ringing up the charts, it pushes last weeks No.3, 4 and 5 tracks down a single place, with “Rude Boy” (DL: 3 to 4) by Rihanna, “Memories” (DL: 4 to 5) by David Guetta and “3 Words” (DL: 5 to 6) by Cheryl Cole and falling to four, five and six respectively. The thirteen Top 10 single for The Black Eyed Peas occurs this week with “Imma Be” (DL: 11 to 7) jumping up five places to No.7, and the other Top 10 entry of the week is Timbaland and Katy Perry’s “If We Ever Meet Again” (DL: 13 to 9), which is up a single place to No.10. Sandwiched in-between those two new entries to the ten are two former No.1 singles, “Fireflies” (DL: 7 to 8) by Owl City at No.8 and “Replay” (DL: 6 to 10) by Iyaz at No.9. NEW PEAKS: Justin Bieber and his “Baby” (DL: 17 to 16) is up five places to No.13, and Gabriella Cilmi is back to her 22-Feb peak of No.16 with “On a Mission” (DL: 27 to 14, Phys: 18 to 14), jumping up ten places due to her new album and her promotional tour at the moment. Adam Lambert scores a No.20 placing for his first single “Whataya Want from Me” (DL: 31 to 29), and Florence + The Machine are up a place to a new peak of No.29. Lifehouse leap eight places to No.30 with “Halfway Gone” (DL: 37 to 30), and occupying that position now is Miley Cyrus and her new track “When I Look at You” (DL: 38 debut), which is up fifteen places to that No.38 position. Cascada maintain their No.41 peak for a second week with “Fever” (DL: 40 hold), and Angus and Julia Stone reach their Dec 21st, 2009 position of No.44 again this week with “And the Boys”. Bobby Ray Simmons was born in Atlanta, Georgia in November 1988, and this week the 21 year old scores the highest new entry of No.25 under the name B.o.B., featuring guest vocal with Bruno Mars on the track “Nothin’ on You” (DL: 24 debut). The Grand Hustle artist in the past has produced tracks and rapped with such artists as T.I., Solange Knowles, Big Boi, Cobra Starship, Mario and Pitbull, and this lead single is taken from his late April due debut album “B.o.B. Presents The Adventures of Bobby Ray”. Perth group Gyroscope debut at No.32 with “Some of the Places I Know”, the lead single from their fourth album “Cohesion” (due April 9th). By debuting so high it instantly becomes their second highest placed single on the ARIA Charts, just behind the No.30 placing for “Snakeskin” from November 2007, whilst this new track is now their fifth charting single. Sean Kingston returns to the ARIA Charts with his ninth entry, debuting at No.49 is “Eenie Meenie” featuring Justin Bieber on backing vocals. It’s the first track from his mid-year due third album, and is also featured on Justin’ newly repackaged “My World 2” album. Welsh heavy metal act Bullet For My Valentine score their first ARIA Top 100 single entry this week by debuting at No.85 with “The Last Fight”. It’s the first single of their late April due third album “Fever”, and their only previous chart action in Australia was from their second album “Scream, Aim, Fire” which hit No.4 in February of 2008. Very little in the Top 5 albums move around this week, with Angus and Julia Stone holding onto the No.1 spot with their second album “Down the Way”, just barely keeping Lady GaGa’s “The Fame Monster” at No.2. Mumford and Sons’ “Sigh No More” is up one place to No.3, swapping places with the Gorillaz album “Plastic Beach” down to No.4. The Top 5 is rounded out by the self-titled debut album by Jason DeRulo holding at No.5. Her debut set “Alas I Can Not Swim” hit No.98 when it charted eighteen months ago, so her new entry instantly becomes her highest charting album.
