August 22, 201014 yr Author I have 8 chocolate muffins and 8 toffee muffins left. Some people brought home made cakes which really went well. I had 150 scones and muffins, so I was glad they had or else I may have run out (except I wouldn't have as I had 12 butter scones frozen, just in case. It went really well. I missed my family being there to help me though. Luckily, after about 3hrs, one of the ladies just came into the kitchen and started washing up. I always run out of things to drink out off. By the second lot of teas and coffees, I have problems.
August 22, 201014 yr Author But we only do one once a year - so you get the pleasure of knowing it'll be 12 months. As well as that, the people are lovely and enjoy it, so, although I'm glad when it ends, it's not something I wouldn't have.
August 22, 201014 yr Well done for tackling it, Meg. Especially with your Mum to look after. Did she enjoy it? Wonder how it just happened that the leftovers were chocolate and toffee. Method in the madness?
August 22, 201014 yr Author Or the fact that I had many, many more of those two? The cream scones went first though. Mum had a lovely time but after 3 hours just had had enough so we took her back to her room and put a dvd on for her. Within 30 mins, she was sound asleep. She was much brighter at about 7 when I checked on her but more than ready to be put to bed when the last person had gone. Edited August 22, 201014 yr by megham
August 22, 201014 yr glad the weather was fine, and all went well, dont think I could face so many at once!!I could just fancy a cream scone right now..cloted cream of course. Edited August 22, 201014 yr by prettyinpink
August 22, 201014 yr Author I wasn't buying clotted cream - they just had to make do with whipped cream. Pip, once it starts, you just keep going. It's like a running fall. There are always those that turn up a couple of hours before it starts and those who turn up when most have gone home. It makes a long day but it is good.
August 22, 201014 yr Glad everything went well Meg and that you mum could join in and enjoy it as well. Sue
August 22, 201014 yr Author We had her sitting in a prominent position so she'd have people around her all the time. It took both me and Dave to get her back in and on her bed but she thoroughly enjoyed it.
August 24, 201014 yr Have you ever started something, thinking it will turn out a certain way, only for it to evolve into something much bigger than you wanted or planned? :( For a long time I've wanted to have a go at busking, just for the fun of it, but I've never plucked up the courage. After finding out a friend played guitar, we've been rehearsing for the last few months, and I thought it would give me extra impetus if we went out and busked on behalf of a local charity. To cut a long story short, my firm are now involved making a donation and are supplying t-shirts and some signage for us to use whilst out. I've also been told that our main boss will be in attendance. Whilst it's great of my firm to make a donation and the charity will benefit, it's not what I wanted for my first ever busking gig  If I'd done a few previously that had gone well, then I'd probably be quite happy, but it's gone from being what I hoped would be a happy-go-lucky, fun and pleasant experience into a much more structured and pressurised event than I wanted. I think we will do ok, but I'd sooner have known that was going to be the case before this thing escalated as it has.
August 24, 201014 yr Author You'd be nervous anyway, Paul. Do a Darius and look at the positives. People are behind you which shows they care how you do. Try and relax and just enjoy it. It's a shame I can't be there - you'd be on youtube as well. Good Luck - I bet you'll be fine. And the charity will benefit as well. Great that you're doing this. Too many of us have dreams and have to let them slip away. It's nice to see someone able to slip along with one of theirs.
August 24, 201014 yr You'll be just fine, Paul. You're not going into this unprepared, you have been rehearsing for several months. Now you have to present an air of self-confidece (even if you feel like a jelly inside) Put on the act, as all performers do. Your friends and work-mates are all gunning for you, and it is for a good cause. Follow your dream! Good Luck !!
August 24, 201014 yr Paul, you'll be fine. No one has any expectations. It doesn't matter how confident or not you feel. It's for fun and charity. If you raise loads of money that's all that is important. It's not X factor or any other contest just you and a friend finding a way of doing something for charity.
August 24, 201014 yr Thanks for the encouragement ladies :) I'm going to try and get a few on video Meg, so if they're good I'll post them and send you the link. If you don't hear from me I'm sure you'll understand
August 24, 201014 yr Shame we can't come and support you Paul. That's all they are doing, how wonderful they think so much of you :) Do what Meg said and hold those positives and most of all ENJOY. Good luck with your charity collection, hope you raise loads :)
August 24, 201014 yr We'll all be thinking of you Paul and sending positive vibes. I admire you for having a go, it's much better to have gone for it than to think if only. Good luck. Sue
August 24, 201014 yr Thanks guys  Truth be told Spam, it's because it's for the local charity that my firm are wanting to contribute, but it's still nice of them and nice to be a part of it, even if it's not what I would have chosen originally. Just had a good rehearsal microphoned up. If we can do 80% as well in public we should be fine, though it's 100% easier to sing in the privacy of your own home.
