January 25, 201114 yr What a miserable damp day. Can't wait for the drier weather....do we get any in the UK???
January 25, 201114 yr Author We have some beautiful, dry, sunny days. A little damp today though. Not enough to put an umbrella up or even really class as rain - just damp.
January 30, 201114 yr How old is he, BT? Hope he's alright. Sixteen, I think. He's done very well. I really thought I was close to losing him last May. The vet was really pleased with him although there was a slight rise in a couple of the things she tested. That's the good news. Unfortunately he also has a heart murmur and she said his heart was beating much too fast even for an average cat who's stressed. He then had a blood test and thyroid problems and other things were ruled out, so I didn't want to have to stress him out more that day. I've to book him in again in a couple of weeks to see if it's still the same. If it is, then I hope she can give me one-a-day pills. He gets really, really worked up if I have to give him tablets. I also have to make the appointment for my dental check up this week. I got the reminder in last week ..................and I procrastinated - there's a shock! After that my eye test will be due. At least the water leak was not anything major - once again it was just the seal on the special roof tile housing the TV aerial mast. This time he's sealed around the central part as well.
January 30, 201114 yr Author I'm not sure if I'll have another animal in the family - it's just so worrying when they aren't well.
January 30, 201114 yr I say I won't, but doubt I could last long without one. The house always seems so empty if I come home from holiday and don't pick the cats up right away.
January 30, 201114 yr Author It's the coming home and not having an enthusiastic welcome waiting. And going round the house and not being followed. And having a bath without furry friends either trying to join me or standing guard over me. I kept telling one of my cats that he didn't like water but he'd never believe me and always wanted to lie in my arms - in the water.
January 30, 201114 yr Talking about animals, I'm listening to my very, very poor recording of the dogless version of If You Go Away ( No me dejes no) and it still raises the hair on my neck and gives me goosebumps. Exquisite! What I'd give for a good quality CD version of that! D's voice is absolutely perfect for the big emotional ballads as well as the simple stripped back quiet ones like his own Big Feather Bed and Simple Like The Truth

You can say that again Meg, oh you did :D It's the coming home and not having an enthusiastic welcome waiting. And going round the house and not being followed. Oh my :o , I hope David's not neglecting his duties :D Sorry  I'm glad he's been seen back with Natasha again. I too was getting a little worried, not having seen them together for a while, but he has been a busy boy. Our dog is 13 and is having some trouble with her legs. I'm dreading the inevitable, as she means so much to us both. Just hope it's still many happy years away yet. Lyn won't be without a dog from now on, even though it will break her heart to lose them, when the time comes. All you can do is make their life as interesting and happy as possible for as long as you have them, whilst they bring you more joy than you can ever reciprocate
January 30, 201114 yr Author At least you can choose not to let them suffer when the quality of their life dwindles away - but that in itself makes for a hard choice as well.
January 31, 201114 yr love if you go away - i was so hoping for an album of matt monro songs, darius's voice suits them its tough having pets - i feel we owe them a life they enjoy, and to spare them suffering - we have that duty -i hated having my dog put down, but i knew all that was left was extending his life into pain and fear just for an extra year or so, he hated going to the vets as it was tbh

That'd be amusing. As for Natasha - well, my David has never met her so it's not surprising they've not been seen together. Are you trying to cause trouble, Paul?

February 4, 201114 yr Gosh that was some windy night! Any receive any damage? At least we haven't the snow that they have over the whole of Eastern USA!!
February 4, 201114 yr Author It was a bit windy here - enough to shake the tiles but not too bad at all. It's mild as well, so I think we are lucky here.
February 4, 201114 yr Not too bad here either. We've just learnt that daughter's job is safe!! After various legal challenges, connected to the people on maternity leave etc, they have all been put through really stressful interviews over the past couple of weeks. This week however, after one more person decided to take voluntary redundancy, the union, after long discussions with the remaining workforce, during which some people agreed to work less hours, put a proposal forward to the authority which has been accepted ,so the remaining 8.5 jobs have been saved! It's been a horrible time for them all, and even now they don't feel they can celebrate because their jobs have only been saved because other people have taken redundancy. Now we have to wait and see what happens to son's job! Sue
February 4, 201114 yr Fabulous news Sue. Fingers crossed it's the same news for your son. What a horrible time
February 4, 201114 yr Author I'm glad one of your children is OK. I hope it works out as satisfactory for your son as well. I know so many people being threatened with redundancy at the moment. It causes so much worry.
February 17, 201114 yr Well I survived my 2 days at work after a fabulous week+ off. Now looking forward to a wonderful Friday and Saturday before I start nights on Sunday! Lets hope for good weather!!
