Glad you had a good time with Neil and enjoyed 30 seconds to Mars. Hope the weather is kind to us and Meg next week. Tomorrow I have to drive to Cambridge. First time driving in about 7 years.

Glad you enjoyed it, Pam. Nina, you never forget how to drive. I hope the weather stays fine for you though.
Glad you enjoyed yourself Pam. Hope you get there ok Nina. Don't think the weather is supposed to be too bad tomorrow, it's later in the week they reckon it's going bad again.(Sorry Meg!) Sue

Snowing here - which is a pain. On the plus side, we have the plumber, 2 window men and 2 men outside building David's work space. Still no bath, no door on the bathroom and not much hot water anywhere but the kitchen. No heat in the top floor either. Still no shower room or kitchen but things are moving on. It's a good job you don't know how long these things will take or else you'd never have them started.
Oh my goodness. I just can't imagine all that on top of these wintry conditions. I don't know how you cope, megham.

After more than 2 months, it's wearing thin. The window people didn't seal Mum's new window properly and we had quite strong, very cold winds so Mum's not oo well. It is sealed now, they thought that it would be Ok. I wouldn't have let them take the bath out if I realised that the plumber would be away, snowed in for a week. Mum has given up asking when her shower room will be ready, there's no way I can get her upstairs now. Just think how nice it'll feel when, sometime in the dark and distant future, it's all finished

He does seem to be but it's too cold for them to dig out the water main. Until that's replaced we haven't enough water pressure for anything to work.

I hope Nina is Ok driving today. It must be scary in snow after not driving for 7 years.

OMG. I really hope she's had a decent drive.

My car has been like a snow car for over a week now.

My neighbour, who drives for a living, came home at lunch but ended up going back to work without it. As he tried to back into position, his wheels just started spinning. He had a spade in the car and dug away the snow all round and tried again - repeat time and again with no success.

Then with his car still sticking out out into the road, another car came up the drive and started sliding in the narrow gap between the front of my car and his. Thankfully the driver was able to stop and my neighbour gave him a push which helped him on his way. My neighbour then gave up trying to park here and drove away. again.

That sounds awful. We've just been told we have 2-3 days without heat or hot water coming soon. Really looking forward to that. Luckily we have an oil radiator we can use in Mum's room.
Back safely. Luckily there was no snow just patches of fog on the way home. Didn't like driving in the dark and lots of traffic. Got stuck in a traffic jam as well coming off the M11. Reminds me why I don't have a car. Still Claire's stuff is home and Hayley's interview went ok. Now fingers are crossed for next month when she hears if she will be offered a place or not.

I hope she is offered one. I'm glad your both home safely. I'm just waiting for the washing to finish so I can hang it up to dry.

Been catching up with news after a close relative has been in hospital.....all OK again now

thank goodness. Was the return to driving horrific, Nina. You never forget how to drive,

but road conditions alter in seven years, and to drive again in current conditions called

for a lot of nerve.

Meg, you must be very stoic to live without heat or hot water. But who expected prolonged

snow in November. I hope by some miracle you manage to see the panto tomorrow.

Pam, I'm glad the weather eased for your trip to Manchester.

And BT, I don't know how you Scots can withstand the weather!

Glad everything's ok now Bramley, and Nina glad that you got there and back safely. As for you Meg, I don't know how you're coping, it's hard enough when the weather's normal but in this lot it's must be horrendous. Your poor mum must think it's never ending. Sue

She's kept warm - we have an oil filled radiator. She forgets how long things have taken and sometimes loses whole days. She's fine now. We have heat at least until Monday now. The plumbing and electrics are so bad, it's been put off 'til next week

Well, I'm not in Glasgow. David dropped me off at Heathrow, I went through security, went to the boarding gate, waited until it opened, queued to go through and the flight board altered the flight from scheduled to cancelled. The staff then got a phone call to tell them. I was not happy. David came straight back to pick me up - another 1hr 30 out of his working day. I was not happy.

On the way back home, Susan texted to tell me that the panto had been cancelled as well. So, today never was going to happen. Mum is tired out as I had had to get her up so early. Still, not getting there is just so much better than not getting back.

sorryto hear that, butas you say - if you had gone through all this and found out the show was canceled anyway you could have gone to all this trouble and ended up stuck in glasgow for nothing..that woud have been worse, plus suppose as they cancelled the flight and the show you can get refunds

what a shame, doesnt it all conspire?Darius must be disappointed too,

Oh Meg I'm so sorry that it didn't work out for you and also for all the others who would have been in the matinee audience.

I guess there were a lot of bookings from groups and a lot cancelled with the schools closed and travel so disrupted, the coach companies probably couldn't risk setting out.

Ambassador tickets have now told me that the panto ISN'T cancelled and no refunds are being made. Not many people can get there but it will go ahead.
