December 8, 201014 yr Meg, how disappointing. So near and yet so far. At least you are not stuck in Glasgow. It must be very discouraging for D and the cast to be playing to near empty houses, and I guess there have been a lot of children's tears when their treat had to be cancelled because of road conditions. Many people are going to miss the panto as the shows are all more or less fully booked up, so unless the show is extended the people who miss out now will be unable to re-book.
December 8, 201014 yr Ambassador tickets have now told me that the panto ISN'T cancelled and no refunds are being made. Not many people can get there but it will go ahead. Sorry to hear you haven't made it to Glasgow Meg. The roads are still pretty bad though we have had no more snow. There are some trains and bus services on which is better than on Monday. The sun is actually shining and we have blue skies in Glasgow at the moment. Very deceiving because its lovely to look out to but absolutely freezing. To be honest I don't think The Kings can afford to cancel any performances and give refunds, which is a shame for people who just can't get there in these conditions. December 8, 201014 yr So sorry Meg. At least if it had to be it was the right way round, you would have been so worried if you were stuck in Glasgow and couldn't have got back to your mum. It's such a shame when you think of how much work they must have put into the show for this to happen. Sue
December 8, 201014 yr its a shame so many people are missing out - it is such a shame especially if school outings are involved too - my daughter wen tot see cinderella at Oxford today with her school and absolutely loved it - didnt need to know anyone in it, she just thought it was the best! so it iwll be a shame if kids in scotland miss out on their trips. I wonder if they will do some extra shows or try to accommodate school trips that have been scuppered, hopefully the roads seem to be getting cleared from what I saw on BBc news - as long as it doesnt come down again!
December 8, 201014 yr Author It is only a panto and I agree, it isn't King's fault and they just couldn't afford to cancel as they'd still have to pay the cast and their staff. I just didn't think the weather would be that bad this early in December. I'd love to see it but that's life. I hope everyone who is yet to go is more successful. I'm so limited by having to be here to get Mum up and back again to put her to bed.

I'm glad you seem to be taking it ok Meg, but I have to say, I'm gutted for you :( Wish I'd just kept my big gob shut for once instead of suggesting it :( Sorry!
December 9, 201014 yr Author Then I wouldn't have tried and that would have been worse. I appreciate that you thought of a way I could get there. I don't like the weather though.
December 9, 201014 yr Author Well - I'm now glad I didn't get there. Among the thousands of people unable to get to work yesterday was pantomime star Darius Campbell, 30. His role as The Prince in Snow White was taken by understudy Nicholas Munro-Clark after Darius failed to get to the King’s Theatre in Glasgow. Thank goodness you didn't get to Glasgow Meg and double thank goodness you didn't get stuck up there :)
December 9, 201014 yr At least this should make you feel better, Meg. And you were refunded your air-fare, so not too bad. But still very disappointing.
December 9, 201014 yr Author And annoying at the same time. If I hesitate about going somewhere in case I can't get back on time, I'd expect the star of a show to do at least that. I would not now know whether it'd have been worth trying again -in case he did the same again.
December 9, 201014 yr If he had to go and his plane was cancelled, neither car nor train could have got him back on time so he should have posted some forewarning on his sites that he wouldn't be appearing or the Kings should have on theirs. It was unfair to keep stumm and let people turn up at the theatre to see him, if they knew at least an hour (the flight) and half ( check in /loading) before that he wouldn't make it.
December 9, 201014 yr yup, BT - I would have been livid if I had made all that effort to find D wasnt appearing! makes it worse that its where he lives, he should have been in a hotel nearby - everyone knew the situation -
December 11, 201014 yr Well it's absolutely clear here today by some miracle. Just a few ice patches left on the pavements of my street. There must have been a huge shift in temperatures overnight. It's such a relief. I can actually see a window of opportunity to get prepared for Xmas.
December 11, 201014 yr yup, its a veritable heat wave - but its meant to be closing in again next week..I bet the shops will be busy as evryone trys to get things in the break in the weather

December 14, 201014 yr Thanks for the warning, megham. What on earth do they get out of creating all these malicious viruses ? Oh and Darius has included an apology in his latest tweet. He hadn't tweeted or posted on facebook for so long, that I began to think he wasn't allowed to while he was on the show. Edited December 14, 201014 yr by Baytree
December 14, 201014 yr Author I'm glad he did. I wonder if he understands how upset some people were.
